The film( Inception) ends with a close up of the spinning top and then the film ends. Now the meaning of this final scene is to make the movie matter to our the viewers in a way that we will remember after watching the film. When Cobb hugs and embraces his kids he lets go of all the grief and guilt that he was holding in his heart since the death of his wife( Mal). This is shown in all the dreams that Cobb has with his kids in it, because he never sees their faces because of his grief and guilt. All his grief and guilt was gone when he let go of Mal when Ariadne shot Mal. This film shows what grief and guilt does to a person, how Cobb cannot even look his kids in the face. John Singleton’s view of social problems in South Central Los Angeles happens in a tale of three friends growing up together. Doughboy and Ricky Baker are half-brothers and have opposite personalities. Ricky is a football player who hopes to win a scholarship and spends most of his time playing football. On the other hand, Doughboy is a young man who looks upon his environment for guidance. He is involved in violence, abusing drugs, and participates in violence. In between is their friend Tre, who actually has a father to teach him what is right from wrong. Furious Styles, who is Tre’s father in the film does everything in his strength to keep his son from becoming another startling statistic. As you can see, it is always important for parents to be a part of their child’s life because it can make a big difference not only in their life but also their child’s future.
The people in this story go through a great transformation from hating each other to being as close as brothers but I do not feel that the end result is the most important part. These boys had very difficult decisions to make. I think that all these young men were raised to be racists to varying degrees. This graveyard moment was a very clear message that could not be misunderstood. They learned tolerance for those of their loved ones that couldn?t or wouldn?t learn as quickly as they did. When the audience keeps jumping to ideas it makes the movie very intersecting because everyone has different ideas of who can be under the mask and what is their motive of purging. So when the end of the movie it ends of being the neighbors because they hate how this family lives and how perfect their life’s are. They kill the father at the end and are about to kill the mother but the guy the little boy help saves her and the family. At the end when the man that was save comes out again makes the viewers wonder where he was through the whole movie. It gives the movie a different kind of twist to the movie, because he only appears couple of times in the movie, and hi saving the family is like thanking them for saving him from being killed.
The eldest brother who is also the narrator of the story gives the reader a glimpse into their lives and the struggles that he and his younger brother Sonny go through. Through the narrators eyes Baldwin does a wonderful job showing how the brothers grew up to lead different lives but are both still struggling from the hold that poverty in Harlem has on them. Baldwin shows how both “the narrator and Sonny are both imprisoned and also free in exactly opposites ways” (spark note). For example, Sonny has physically been imprisoned due to his addiction to drugs but was able to escape from Harlem and create his own life through music. Whereas the narrator is physically free but trapped in the housing projects of Harlem which he clearly hates. It is Baldwin’s unique style of writing that has the characters asking themselves the question, “Does one embrace the hand that they are dealt in order to live or does one bow down and allow it to consume them?” Baldwin shows how each brother at different times in their life allowed for it to do both. For instance, in the beginning Sonny seemed to be consumed by his suffering which led him down the path of drugs but by the end he had embraced it and let his suffering playout through music. The narrator on the other hand seemed to embrace everything that he was dealt and did the best he could to better his life.
The film exhibits and analyzes the story of NFL player Michael Oher’s life through high school as he endures various adversities and difficulties in his life. It tells Oher’s story of being the son of a cocaine addictive mother and absentee father, who is homeless due the circumstances of his family. Despite not having either of his parents in his life he did have Big Tony, who was his friend’s dad. Big Tony would allow Michael to sleep on his sofa some days when he did not have anywhere else to live and he also was the main cause to Michael being admitted to the Wingate Academy Christian School. Inception explores dreams as something that can be changed at will, whether at the owner's will or someone elses. One scene takes place in Cobb's (the main character) mind. He is training a recruit, Ariadne, as “The Architect”, so she could become the one who would build a dream for the victim, Fisher. The invader needs to create a realistic world that is based on what the victim normally does every day so as to allow the victim to think that everything is not a dream. This one scene appeals mostly to our emotions and is incorporated into my project the most. Ariadne starts to playfully change the scenery within Cobb's mind. The setting is originally a small cafe in a busy urban town. She skews reality and twists the streets around themselves until one layer of buildings is folded up and around to stack upon each other roof to roof. Cobb and Ariadne can now walk on “walls” which are actually the ground, but at the same time “walls”. The unconscious has a huge part in shaping human behavior, yet many overlook the idea behind it. This is an idea that maybe these unconscious behaviors can be used to alter the future or the past mistakes or anything in between for that matter. Everyone dreams at some point in their life and what many people don’t realize is that dreams usually develop from past experiences or from actual occurrences and thoughts. This means that if someone happened to see a guy wearing a cowboy hat with a feather in it, in one of their dreams, they most likely saw this person at some point in their life and may not have even realized it. It is impossible to create a new face in a dream. In Inception (2009), Christopher Nolan portrays Dom Cobb as a special operative whose life mirrors a Freudian psychological reality in which his repressed guilt leads to self-destructive behavior.
Inception (2010), directed by Christopher Nolan, is an action and adventure film shot in a world where fantasy is as real as reality. The main character Cobb is on a journey to get reacquainted with his children after being falsely accused of murdering his wife. In order to see his children again, he must forsake a task that is seemingly impossible and dangerous, all the while protecting his partners from the truth that lies ahead. In the end, this film leaves a twist on what is reality and what is fantasy and will keep you guessing if things are as real as they seem to be. Up until the very end, you will be guessing if Cobb will ever get to see his children again and will end with a “spin” you didn't see coming, pun intended.
Descartes makes a valid point when pertaining to the movie when what we see may not be real. Our experiences may just be a dream because dreams can feel so real. In the movie everything in the dreams seem real but they are not, they just think they are real. In the movie the always take something physical with them from the real world to help them differ from reality and dreams. Cobb always bring a spinning top into the dream world so he can differentiate from the real world. Descartes writes: “there are never any sure signs by means of which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep” ( Descartes Med. 1, 472). ...s the movie ends with the sun coming out over the rainy gate, one cannot help but to feel as confused and lost as the characters at the opening lines of the film when they intoned their total incomprehension of the situation. Although the woodcutter seems to redeem himself of the perfidy of (possibly) stealing the dagger by adopting a baby left under the gate, the movie is never resolved. While faith is restored that men can also be good (a central question throughout the film) we are never any the wiser as to what was real. That is the whole point of the movie; we are never shown what is real because we will never know.
