My EAST project is called Greenbrier Cemetery. My project members are Garrett Ring me, Jonah Ashworth, Connor Reeves, and Ryin Johnson. Our problem in the community is people can’t or cannot find their relatives at a certain point that's where we come in. This project will benefit people like that, that are confused or do not know were there past relatives are buried. I could personally tell you this is a problem because I was in this same situation. One time when I and my family were going through Quitmen, AR to see my great grandpas but we were confused on where that might be located. This gave or group an idea how we could do this for Greenbrier. By the end of April this project should be completed. Our team will complete project inside
the EAST classroom and in the cemetery’s in Greenbrier like Estep, Springhill, Pleasant Valley, and Thorn. The steps to our project are first we create a plan on who will be getting the names of the names of the people, next we have to create an open street map so that people can figure out how to get to the cemetery, then we will go to the cemetery’s and record the names of people. Next we must make a paper list to print off. Also we must have to print out are map. Then we must get permission from either Greenbrier city hall, or the city center. Our task to complete this are for me to go to Pleasant Valley and Springhill to get the names. Then Jonah will go to Thorn and Estep. Ryin and Connor will map out the cemetery. Then the public or anybody will that might be a visitor in the city hall or city center will be able to see our project.
Morbid Funeral Home, Inc. is an accrual basis taxpayer who sells preneed funeral contracts. Customers pay Morbid in advance for goods and services to be provided at the contract beneficiary’s death. Under state law the payments are refundable if the contract purchaser requests them any time until the goods and services are furnished. Morbid, for both financial and tax accounting purposes, includes the payments in income for the year the funeral service is provided. Morbid insists that the amounts it receives under the contracts are customer deposits. The IRS agent insists that the payments are prepaid income that is subject to tax in the year of receipt.
Ever take a midnight train to Georgia? No, well ever drive through Georgia? When driving through Georgia on State Road 49, there is a little town called Andersonville that is very easy to miss. To many it is just another town. Yet this town has its own trail. The Andersonville Trail is a small brown dirt road that leads visitors to the Andersonville National Historic Site (Roberts xi). This National Historic Site looks like a “well- tended” national cemetery. On closer examination, this cemetery is nothing like Arlington (Roberts xi). “In this national cemetery, the marble headstones are so close together, they almost touch. The markers appear to be one long head...
In Five Days at Memorial, Fink depicts the deadlock that went on at Memorial Medical Center for five days as several individuals were caught in the hospital without electricity.
A code of ethics provides a standard by which nurses conduct themselves and their practice, observing ethical obligations of the profession and providing quality care. To achieve its purpose, a code of ethics must be understood, internalized, and used by nurses in all aspects of their work” (Aliakvari, 2015, p. 494).
Without the assistance of generous community members, the cemetery would not have been possible. “Pap” Taylor, a longtime citizen, gave the first acre of land, which inspired another outstanding citizen, namely “Uncle Bob” Wilson, to donate a second acre of land for burial p...
While looking through the book list I was mainly looking for a title that really got my attention and would be a good read. With this goal in mind I really thought that “From a Watery Grave: The Discovery and Excavation of La Salle’s Shipwreck, La Belle” fit that criteria. While reading it I gained a lot of insight on how you go about excavating a sunken ship. The book is about the excavation of the explorer Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle ship the La Belle. The ship slammed in the Texas bay by gale winds and storm surges, La Belle finally slipped beneath the water and sank, where it would remain for over 300 years until it was finally found by the Texas Historical Commission archaeologists. It was assumed that Robert Cavelier was looking to establish a colony in the New World. I believe if they had landed where they wanted to, they would have been able to colonize there with the cargo they had arrived with. To see if this would have been able to achieve I must take a closer look at the materials that they brought with them on their voyage.
In the midst of one of the busiest cities in the world, there lies a sanctuary. There lies an area where all men are equal, where poverty is non-existent, where all men are united under two things; the first being death and the second being America. Arlington National Cemetery is a tribute to all of the fallen heroes, the patriots, the soldiers, the pioneers, all who have cried American tears. I have been forever changed since visiting Arlington National Cemetery and it is a visit that every American should make. The statistics are truly mind-numbing, as more than four hundred thousand people have been buried at Arlington National Cemetery since the 1860s.
The Battle of Cold Harbor was fought from May 31- June 12 1864. The most significant fight of the battle occured on June 3rd. It was one of Ulysses S Grant’s last battles of the overland campaign. It’s remembered as one of America’s most lopsided and bloody battles. Thousands were killed or wounded during the frontal assault on Robert E. Lee’s army. On May 1st the battle first ensued with Ulysses flanking Lee’s army. The union seized the old Cold Harbor and defended it from confederate attacks. Both sides had suffered enormous casualties, and when both sides received reinforcements, it happened again. On the days after both sides had received their reinforcements, both sides spent time preparing and defending.
This project has helped me in a way to make a decision on how important this upcoming election is to my heritage as a black man and to take full advantage of this opportunity.
For years the burial ground was a forgotten part of American history until it was rediscovered in 1991. The site was then designated as historical landmark and later a national

The cemetery my grandfather is buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, one of the largest cemeteries in the New York City area. It’s filled with people of all backgrounds and nationalities that came to the city and surrounding area. It has become home to many people as it was created in 1917 and it’s still active to this day, showing exactly one hundred years of progression. The location of the cemetery’s first plots is important to begin with, because New York City is an urban and central hub for lots of the world, the cemetery being outside the city in Westchester County is done on purpose. A cemetery can be a somewhat depressing sight, so it’s placed away from everyone and where they will only see it if they travel out to. It creates a separation between “us and them” (233). Because of the large number of residents from New York City are buried there, the cemetery’s origins start the progressive story of how it grew. The beginning of the cemetery tells a great deal about who was living there at the time. The original tombstones had all of the last names seemed to be
Project Citizen is an annual project where people in the 7th grade must identify a problem with Edgewood Middle School or the community and come up with a solution for the problem. In past years of Project Citizen, there have been many meaningful changes to Highland Park and Edgewood. Some of these were recycling bins in Edgewood and traffic lights and stop signs where they were needed. Before these ideas were set into place, nobody realized how much they were needed. It is a program that can be very impactful on our community.
