Grandparents' House
The car ride to my grandparents' house seemed to take half a day even though it was only a twenty-minute drive to Cedaredge. Although the back road over Redlands Mesa was a twisty tourney road, it drug on like a boring documentary. When the car finally pulled into the driveway of the long, white house with a neatly kept green lawn, I knew it was going to be a great day of fun, relaxation, and great food. As I walked around to the back door, my eyes took in the beauty of the grass swaying in the wind and the weathered barn off to the left of the pasture. Inside the barn I could see all sorts of different odds and ends hanging from the walls. When I opened the door to my grandparent's old house, a sweet, sensational smell of cooking food filled my nostrils and made my empty stomach growl. The aroma in the air was always a tease to my stomach and made me think my stomach was starting to eat away at itself.
The normal activity of everyday life sends my family in a hundred different directions. My mom and dad both go to work, and my sisters and I go to school. After school, there are practices that all of us kids attend, and when we get home, we eat, do homework and go to bed. There is no time to sit down and play a game as a family or to just hang out together and talk about how the day went. Weekends and holidays are a time that we get to go to my grandparents' house as a family and have a day of fun visiting with family that I don't get to see very often.
Their old house was to the west of the small town of Cedaredge, so there was not that many houses around it. When we went to my grandparents' house, we would ride our bikes around the neighborhood. My sisters and I would race on our bikes to see who ...

After my whole family was piled into the car, which as my sisters and I got bigger was a harder and harder task, we would wave goodbye to my grandparents and any other relatives that had come for the day. As we would pull out of the driveway, I would think back on the day and realize that I had to go back to the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. The trip home was not as long as the way over, but I could never wait until the next time we could go back to my grandparents' house in Cedaredge, for a relaxing day of spending time with my family and forgetting about our hectic life for at least a little while. Now, with both my sisters in college, the day when we go to my grandparents' house does not seem to come often enough.
The short story by Sandra Cisneros revolves truly around the tittle “The House on Mango Street” and how her family moved from places to places to get there. The recollection of the street names her family lived on and how every time they moved “there’d be one more of us” added to the authors focus of emphasizing how important the word “home” meant to her throughout the story. The family of six included Mama, Papa, brothers Carlos and Kiki, and sister Nenny.
I have a lot of fond memories looking back on my childhood. My dad’s parents had a house on Granbury Lake; it was a kid’s paradise. I grew up fishing, which is my favorite thing to do, boating, water skiing, 4-wheeling, anything you could do outdoors we did it. My grandparents had a massive garden and rows of fruit trees that lined their properly. We would wake up early in the morning to help Pa Pa woke in the garden. Being from the city, we that this was the coolest thing ever. As a reward for our hard work, Na Na would treat us to a snack of fresh cherry tomatoes from the garden. Although, she would always call them little boy and little girl tomatoes. Night time was my favorite out at the lake because that’s when the fire flies would come out. Every evening around dusk we would get our mason jars, poke holes in the lids, and wait to spot the first lightning bug. We didn’t have to wait long until the whole night sky
The first and only time that my family moved, I was three-years-old. My parents bought a new house about four blocks away from our previous house. However, the new house was still being built, so my family moved in with my maternal grandmother – who lives about thirty minutes away – until the construction was completed a year later. Even though I was really young while we lived with my grandmother, some of my favorite childhood memories come from that year. My grandma’s house is a ten minute walk from the beach; a walk we would make at least once every

One theorist that is relevant to this study is Malcolm Knowles’s theory of adult learning. Though Malcom Knowles may not be the first one to introduce adult learning, he was the one that introduced andragogy in North America. (McEwen and Wills 2014). Andragogy means adult learning. The core concept of Knowles’s Adult learning theory is to create a learning environment or awareness for adults to understand why they learn .Knowles developed six main assumptions of adult learners. Those assumptions are the need to know, self- concept, experience, readiness to learn, orientation to learning and motivation. (McEwen and Wills, 2014)
My last day seemed to arrive in the blink of an eye. My “Last Day in Palm Springs”. I couldn’t really spend the day doing what I wanted. There was no time for nostalgia or goodbyes. I spent all my time moving the boxes to the moving truck. One at a time, I stripped my childhood home of everything that made it my childhood home. You never realize how few your belongings are until you pack it all up. Finally, we were off. Driving on the highway all day long and through the dat is such a romanticized concept, but the actual reality of it is very different. There I was, stuck with my whole family in a car that was far too small for a family of four. The trip was supposed to take only 8 hours but we ended up driving for around 11 unbearable hours. I was asleep for the last leg of the trip but I was awoken from my uncomfortable slumber by my family’s voices. There was a crick in my neck, my arms had red marks from the seatbelt, and I felt like I was going to collapse if anything even touched me. I forgot all about that, though, when I looked out the window. The sun was just starting to emerge from the horizon, bathing the whole place in a golden glow. The air wafting through my window was a far contrast from the dry heat in Palm Springs. It was a serene environment that made me forget about everything. The next thing I knew, we had arrived at my aunt’s home. There was actual one good thing

With this number skyrocketing due to increasing labor demand in factories the health and safety risks escalate as well, meaning, “shift work is regarded as a significant occupational stressor which can have marked negative effects on both health and well-being” (Natvik et al. 719). Many diseases are associated with shift work including, obesity, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and sleep disorders (Marqueze et al. 229; Peplonska 693). Similarly, female night shift workers are at an increased risk for breast cancer and heart disease (Wang et al. 462). Even working as little as three night shifts per month for several years can cause increased chances for disease and health problems (Smith 112). One’s health cannot be simply replaced. This means companies should take these conditions into
It has been disputed that school uniforms would encourage protection in our education community. After all, if every student is trying the same style, it would be easier to pick out who on the school property is not a student or staff member. It is also disputed that school uniforms dampen thefts among pupils, since the contest would no longer be there. With identical outfits, no one is slaughtered over a pair of designer shoes or a designer jacket. However, most public schools already have guidelines in place stating that definite colors shouldn’t be worn to school, in areas where this would be an issue - so what has a uniform really unravel? If the students aren't dressed in those colors to begin with, then why do we feel the need to enforce uniforms?

A uniform is a standard set of clothes that is worn by a group of people. These people may be members of an organization or a group of people having the same ideas. There are thousands of kinds of uniforms in the world worn by people, such as police officers, firefighters, doctors, lawyers, security guards, and even fast-food restaurant workers. School uniforms are a controversial issue in schools today. Many schools have already adopted a policy mandating school uniforms, while many more are still considering the change. School uniforms create an atmosphere of equality in which the students are able to achieve to their best, while attaining the most out of their education. School uniforms should be mandatory to unite the school community as one, to instil discipline among the student body, and to eliminate distractions that will help students focus more, which in turn will help our society.
As I walk in through the door, I begin to sense the feeling of warmth come over me. This is the feeling I get every time I arrive at my Grandpa's house in Price, Utah. It's where I spent the first five years of my life. This is my second home.
The air is really fresh, and the wind is comfortable. Grandma usually opened the window during the daytime; I still remembered that feeling when the sunshine came in house and scatter. I walking among those numerous grand trees and admire colored leaves on the trees and on the ground. I miss that feeling of calmness and stability of the world around. I wish I could return the reality of those feelings once more. Memories in mind and never forget about happiness of staying in my grandmother’s house. Grandparent’s time-honored gift to their grandchildren is their unconditional love, unfettered by schedules, routines or commitments. They reinforced their grandchildren’s sense of security and self-value.
Some of my best family experiences were on family trips, but sometimes it was not in fact the activities at the place we were going but the journey there that held the learning experiences. Most of the family trips that we take are over eight hours long. There are many things that come from being in a cramped car for that long. One of which is you get bored unless you talk to other people, so that’s what you do. Sometimes you can find out a lot about a person by talking to them for that long, even people that you thought you knew completely. On one of my family trips my brother told about a time that his friend almost suffocated on a snow caving trip. It happened when they were crushing in the snow caves and it wasn’t working, then the last time that his friend tried jumping on it, the ceiling broke through and he was stuck halfway with his face buried in snow. My brother finished by tellin...
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
