"I'm a Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die, I'll be Sooner dead!" Hearing this chant from hundreds of people in one place is almost breathtaking. Growing up in Western Oklahoma, every day of the week I was looking forward to the weekend, as if every Saturday were a holiday, to watch Sooner football. Once the topic of college came up, the first place I applied was The University of Oklahoma with full intentions of going here and no where else. The University of Oklahoma is full of tradition, pride, champions, and Sooner MAGIC.
Sooner MAGIC is in all of us here at The University of Oklahoma from the football players that make big plays, to the spirit squad that pumps up the crowd, and in the students that give up their Saturdays to cheer

I believe that I am masterful in the sense that I have the desire and ability to master any skill that I desire to achieve. I hate not being the best at something and will work hard to become the best that I can. Masterful can also mean that one has the ability to be a master, or leader within a group. I have always been told that I was born a leader and have been in multiple areas from being an officer and president in multiple clubs, being a supervisor at work, as well as being the one my friends and family look to for answers in tough situations.
Accountability is a trait that seems to be increasingly more rare every day because no one wants to own up and take responsibility for their actions. Growing up I was taught to be responsible for my actions and to always own up to my mistakes. Honesty is one of the most important values I hold and I believe that honesty and accountability go hand in hand. I feel that I am very accountable because I am not afraid to admit when I messed up and know how to use mistakes as a learning experience and not repeat them over

I am inclusive in the sense that I can do a little bit of everything from hard physical work, computer work, talking to people, and the odd jobs that no one else wants to do. Anything that I set my mind to, I know I can pick up quick and do a good job at it. I am also inclusive by the way that I like to include everyone when something
is going on. I do not like people being singled out or left out of the group because everyone has ideas and everyone has something they can bring to a group, no matter what group it is.
Competitive is last but certainly not least, if there could be a silent "C" placed before the "M" in MAGIC, I believe it would also stand for competitive. The University of Oklahoma has a deep tradition and pride in our athletic teams and this is one of the things I love most about OU. I loving carrying on tradition and having pride in something that is much bigger than myself. While I was in high school, I competed in as many things as I could; band contests, choir contests, academic team bowls, state tests, and even games that were only at my school and I went into each of these with intentions of winning.
Sooner MAGIC dates back to the Switzer era but is still alive and strong today, being carried on by students, fans, players, and everyone else that bleeds Crimson and
This tournament, apart from entertaining students and other fans, highlights what stuff different colleges are made of. This comes at a critical time when high school seniors are considering what colleges to attend once they graduate. Thus, it is not surprising that this package of sporting events brings glad tidings to the people as it helps usher-in the beautiful spring season. However, a critical evaluation of the different teams and schools reveal the series of events -both good and not so good- that occur as they prepare for this all-important tournament.
It all begins with SOS and SOS+. Those are the freshman orientations. Every freshman has been through it and knows what I am talking about. Many of the SOS and SOS+ leaders told the freshman during orientation that nobody goes to the football games instead, they go to the basketball games. As a freshman you want to do everything that you can to fit into the crowd. Of course if an older student tells you that it is not "cool" to go to a football game, then most likely you are not going to go. Freshman Lucy O'Kelley says, "I was scared to go to the football games after my SOS+ leader told me that nobody went to them. I thought I would be they only one sitting in the stands, so I did not attend the games this past season." If most of the freshman felt that way then that was about 900 possible fans that the SOS and SOS+ leaders scared away. They are supposed to be leaders of the university, but yet they are scaring the fans away.
It is a town with less than 5000 people, and it is not a location that has many jobs. People must commute to neighboring towns to make a living. Ringgold is a town in North Georgia and is looked over when people visit Georgia. It is not a vacation spot and does not have many recognizable landmarks. Throughout the year, the people of Ringgold only have one thing to look forward to on a given day. That one thing is sports, and for a small town like Ringgold, sports are the only thing on the townspeople minds after 6 p.m. Starting from the age of five kids are placed on recreational teams and taught how to play football. The kids learn about the tradition of Ringgold football and how to play with pride. They are taught to give 100% and never to give up. The parents wear all blue in support of the Ringgold Tigers. Fans will spend almost any amount on the gear just like the Permian fans. The area grocery stores even carry the gear and support the football team every Friday. The people of Ringgold fill up the stands every week and support the team even though the team has never in its history produced a state championship like Permian football has. The fans show up and have a fire in their eyes that would mirror that fire that is shown in the eyes of Permian football fans. Ringgold is willing to support its team at any cost, and that was on display when the school built a brand new football field and had
I have been in this school since kindergarden. I have been here long enough to see our school win the state title for football and I”ve also seen our school locked down. There is the good and the ugly in every story, and what side you choose to pick will make your life easier or a very long road to glory.
Ever experienced cheer camp a famous college? Surround by its famous color orange and blue? Well, I did! A tremendous amount of people have their different ideas an exciting experience in their life. Although out of all of the exciting experiences I’ve ever experienced , I would have to say my favorite is when I visited The University of Florida for cheer camp my sophomore year. I was overly excited about spending four days at The University of Florida; I stayed up all night the night before packing and getting ready to finally stay at a college for four days with my fellow cheer sisters. From that experience I learned a lot about sticking together as a team, and friendship! But, most importantly, I learned that bonding together as a team is what got us to finish strong at the end. Those four days really opened my eyes to a lot of different things and I’m glad I can say that I really enjoyed myself.
I believe that I will be academically successful at Ohio State because I have taken the time to realize what my career goals are. When I graduated from high school in 1996, I really had no idea what career path I wanted to pursue. So I listened to a lot of wise people who pointed out the things that I was good at. I entered Ohio University as an Engineering major and later switched to Industrial Technology. After many years in college I found I was not successful at the things I had previously been successful at. I realized that what I was studying really did not interest me. I actually didn’t like it at all. That was the point that I decided I had wasted enough time and money and I walked away from college.
College football is a major part of many peoples' lives, especially here in the South. Whether we or someone we know is an alumni, we plan to go there in the future we think the uniforms are cute, or whatever reason, we always have one favorite team we cheer for. sometimes fans of a team will wear a shirt with the team's logo and that is as far as their loyalty goes. Others may attend a few games a season, but there are also those die hard fans that never miss a game or always tailgating, screaming at the refs, and have the team's fight song as their ringtone. While all that may seem a little overboard, there are people believe it or not, who take their team devotion as far as killing to show their devotion to their favorite team. Having team spirit is one thing, but when lines are crossed and people begin causing major problems, security should be tightened at games, even if colleges have to change a few things to pay for the extra help.
The University of Michigan, aka Michigan Wolverines, has been a prominent name in college sports for many decades, in many areas of college athletics. From their gridiron glory to their up and coming prowess in basketball, the University of Michigan is steep in tradition and continues to get some of the best talent to come to their university to compete in college athletics. U of M has also been at the fore front of media and technology. Michigan was one of the first schools to start using radio and television to broadcast their games and is now at the top with social media and tracking trends of the population during their athletic competition.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are one victory away from redeeming their disappointing effort from a season ago. In last year’s national semifinal, the Tide were upset by the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes in what was a closely contested matchup. Alabama head coach Nick Saban and his returning
The most simple dictionary definition I have found is: The quality or state of being accountable; an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one 's actions. Accountability can be applied to many situations in the daily life and it can easily be overlooked in the civilian world, but when it comes to the US Army or any military branch, accountability is one of the most important things. That is why is instilled in every soldier since the moment they are shipped out to Basic Combat Training. The whole Army needs accountability to keep operations running 24/7. From the PVTs, all the way up to high ranking officers, we all need to be accountable for our assigned equipment, location/status, personnel, and our actions. If we are not held accountable of our
The 2010 SEC Championship was a sight of horror for the young but explosive South Carolina squad. The Tigers of Auburn, led by QB Cam Newton, stormed through South Carolina winning in dominant fashion by 39 points. Gamecock fans continue to await the day that they will return to that game and avenge their only loss. The path doesn’t have much light shining through it but with one win, the Gamecocks will open that door to a much wider horizon.
Every year thousands of students, parents, alumni and other participants come back to the University of Arizona for Homecoming weekend. This eventful get together consists of class reunions, the Homecoming football game, dinners, celebrations and many other gatherings with the Wildcat family. 92 years and counting, homecoming has been a tradition of the University, which allows anybody involved or who was involved with U of A to join. This annual event has plenty of history contributing to the gathering of thousands of people each year to celebrate it.
All four years of high school I worked behind the scenes on and off the football field. From handing out jerseys and pants, measuring boys constantly for belts, adjusting helmets, patching minor cuts, along with trying to keep our ever so famous title we created as “H20 Technicians” by meeting all of the teams hydrating needs. So, from this angle I saw and heard everything. Even the things boys would not typically share with girls. That is one of the many “perks” of being one of four football managers. When I graduated high school and came back to Putnam County for my first Cougar football game since last season, I realized I had never actually watched a football game. Therefore, I decided to watch the game from a fans point of view. A much more muted version of the game. Watching the game as fan was like holding season tickets with sideline seats for the last four years and on the fifth year watching all the games on a dingy old black and white TV.
Hey guys I just wanted to put my 2 cents into this conversation. I have recently attended OU for school. If you are going to OU instead of schools like Ohio State and Miami etc. because it’s a better “Party School” you may be disappointed depending on what you expect from a “Party School”. Any school can be a party school, it just depends on who you hang out with, and it may just be easier to party at OU because of how the town and campus is set up. Obviously, if you go to school like at UC in Cincinnati, there are many obstacles when it comes to party for example, long distances to go parties and bars, more expensive bars, taxis, and crime. I have been at Ohio University
To begin something new, you must sacrifice something old. To enter the real world, you must graduate your childhood.
