(1) Why would you like to participate in the Summer Graduate School Preparation Course?
I will graduate this June with as a communication studies major and a Labor and workplace studies minor. Before transferring to UCLA, my goal was to attend law school and work in public policy or become a private lawyer. However, coming to UCLA greatly affected my GPA and opened me to new cultures and experiences. I realize now that law school is not for me and have spent my senior year exploring different career options. Although I am not quite sure about I want to do yet, I have narrowed it down to a couple of fields and professions. Participating in this course would further teach me the ins and outs of the application process and allow me to connect with graduate students and professionals who have been through this process and can offer their guidance and wisdom. Participating in this program help me finalize my options and starting my pursuit

By the end of the course, I hope to know which graduate exams to start studying for, which programs and schools to apply to, how to find grants and resources for graduate school. I also hope to have a better understanding of student life in grad school and what one is expected to do outside of the academic settings. For example, I would like to learn more about the way networking works in graduate school (should I have business cards?), how to find faculty mentor for projects I work on, how to become a teaching assistant or supplement my income. I am really hoping that this program prepares me for the next chapter of my education. I am very behind on my preparations for someone who hopes to start a graduate program. This program would greatly help me catch up and plan for my future. Since I am graduating, many of these resources will no longer be readily available to me. I will take full advantage of the few resources that I still have access
Overall, this course has provided me with one thing. . . hope. Hope that we will one day there will be unity among all of the human race; man, woman, child, black, white, gay, straight.
College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.
I have always been someone that is afraid to fail. From such an early age as I can remember I didn’t like to be the loser in games or get questions wrong on my school work. To me failure meant that you weren’t good enough. My parents never really taught me otherwise. I don’t think my parents really felt that they had to go over failure with me even through college. I encountered many coaches throughout my soccer career and I was always the outstanding player on the team. I was used to winning, winning in games and in the classrooms.
I had not looked over or updated my resume and cover letter for nearly a year, so being able to have a chance to make corrections to them was a great time saver. I also found the peer reviews over the resumes and cover letters to be constructive in that they allowed a fresh pair of eyes to rake through some of the mistakes I may have overlooked. I will undoubtedly keep referring back to this course over the next few years when I am out in the job market looking for my future dream career.
This course made me rethink my first occupation, I learned that I might not want to be just a photographer but rather a photojournalist, in which I could make use of my love and talent for photography, but also journalism. However, that’s not all, I also learned that some other occupations that I might be interested in could be things like interior design, videographer, and advertisement. These are now all occupation plans for me and widens my once narrow mind, and opens up a bunch of different options for me if I learn that I actually don’t like
... The program is clearly not a perfect substitute for experience, but I believe it would program would also allow me to further research my business ideas through the experiences of my peers, independent study, and related summer employment. This would let me have a deep understanding, as I hope, of financial and other market structures, competitiveness, and other factors that a consultant needs take into account when recommending whether to pursue a career as an international business consultant.
Ultimately what I hope to gain from the program is creative destruction. I hope to learn new ideas, and challenge my old ones, learning invaluable wisdom from my peers, professors and staff along the way. Above all, I hope to see the destruction of myself and leave the school realizing a new level of self-efficacy and
To conclude, I have enjoyed this course very much. I think I may have benefited personally by taking this course at this point in my career path with Hope. I understand why it’s the first course in the program, but for me starting the third semester, I have had some background and instead of this course wetting my appetite, I was able to dine on the content.
When I first started the semester, I had absolute no Idea of what major I wanted to do. Now after taking this course I have been able to narrow it down to 2 majors that I am interested in taking. I had no idea that there was even a sports administration major. If the class never brought in the sports administration presenter I would have never known about the major. In this course I have learned more about my transferable skills, personality type, academic interests, personal values, skills and strengths.
Graduate Courses In Four-year Institution. This program is ideal for students who have GPA performance that is above 2.50 and below
In my future, this will be especially important because I will be able to know that gaining new experiences can help me in daily tasks. By applying the knowledge that I gained by overcoming challenges in this course, I have a higher chance of successes in my future when dealing with new
The program administers great flexibility, which allows the fortuity of pursuing my dream career while still getting the work experience I need. The options granted by this program are one of the many reasons why I became interested; allowing myself to take evening, weekend or online classes. Going into the Human Resource field, this is something to appreciate since it gives me – a part-time student and full-time employee – the time to complete the program at my own
Within the tutorials, I didn’t really know anybody and groups changed from week to week until the final project. I had to learn how to talk and interact with several types of people within a new environment. This is especially important going forward at McMaster and into the future within the work force. Procrastination was also a large issue during my time in high school. This course taught me the importance of having a set schedule to maintain a healthy work ethic, prevent work from piling up and the importance of iteration.
In terms of Personal Development I feel that the course has helped me to develop the skills I need to improve my grades, and to build my confidence.
This course has helped me in many ways, especially time management, health, and money. Instead of having a very relaxing week and then panicking at the end of the week when everything is due, this course has helped me to plan out my studies. Planning them out helps me produce higher quality work and assists me with my stress problem. One thing that has helped a lot is getting short easy assignments or parts of assignments done in short periods of extra time I have. For example, instead of turning on that TV, wait ten minutes and knock out an assignment. Another asset for myself has been setting dates to have assignments done. Although these assignments may not be due on that day, getting them done and out of the way, makes more time for other
