It had to start with a challenge: my module (Documentary Filmmaking Practice) was suffering a negative peak in popularity. The first day of classes, only two students were sitting in front of me: but a couple of weeks later, 23 were populating the tiny classroom and spreading the voice about that stimulating course and the lure of its new teacher's methods. I caught their attention through providing them with a broad look at different film genres and techniques, in order to help them developing a personal hybrid documentary form with awareness of the different creative possibilities; then I brought them to work on the field, and the results were remarkable. Despite the limitations of that short course, I stimulated their creativity providing guidance to the students even when off-duty. When my contract expired the subsequent year, I sadly had to renounce to a renewal due to my full-time commitment in the TV industry in Rome. Their forever developing talents and favorite interests are left for an uncreative school environment. I, for one, have always been taught and believed in an education, or following the guidelines of another, was essential in achieving wealth and success later in life. However, after listening to Robinson’s argumentative speech, I realize creativity and a valued education coincide with each other. To justify myself, creativity and thinking outside the box has led to many of the world’s advancements. Whatever the case may be, teens often try to find ways to achieve social and academic “checkpoints” so that their future seems heartier. Over the years, studies have been conducted regarding whether or not music has an influence on these achievements. After graduation from KOREA University, I decided to enter Hyndai MotorCompany(HMC), which is the largest Korean car manufacturer and global player, to pursue a career as an international businessman. Mali spoke with so much passion as he answered the age old question ‘what do teachers make.’ “I make parents see their children for who they are and who they can be,” this quote really moved me because I think in a lot of situations students’ talents are overlooked by their parents (Mali.) My art teachers always had their hand in the community creating sculptures for the local fire department or crocheting hats and baby booties. I feel good teaching shows students how to apply the knowledge they learned. I want to model what they learned so they can apply it to their everyday life. I attend to teach my students to be active members of society and be aware and respectful of others’ culture, and teach them how to apply the skills they learn in art in their everyday life.
