During my secondary school days, I was the best student in Mathematics and Biology and as the senior girl (Head-girl). After completing my secondary school education in 2004, I got a job offer from the same school I graduated from, to teach Maths and Sciences. I was a very active full-time teacher in this school for four years; I participated in different extra-curricular activities such as leading the Jet club, inter-house sports and preparing students for competitions. In addition, I counselled and gave extra help to a lot of students struggling with their academies. This had a lot of immediate and long-term positive impact on many of the students. I was awarded teacher of the year twice.
In 2007, I secured a place in a University to train as a teacher and I had to choose one area of expertise, I chose to train as a Biology teacher at the cost of my beloved Mathematics as it was the nearest to studying medicine (the so-called ideal profession for any intelligent and smart lady in my society). Irrespective of this decision, I continued to teach Maths, Further-Maths and Sciences

This impressed the Lagos State Governor at that time (Ex-Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola) and he sponsored me to the UK for Master’s degree. At this time, I wish I could express my interest in Maths but, people around me advised that, this might make me lose the scholarship because the Governor’s plan was to make me the head of a department in the Ministry of the Environment. During my MSc at the University of Reading, all my presentations were always unintentionally relating to children and schools. My supervisors were quick to discover my unequivocal love for Teaching and they encouraged me to pursue it. Therefore, I was given the privilege to write my thesis on issues around Education, Students and Schools in the UK and the world at
College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.
I have become much more flexible in my approach in dealings with others thanks to the guidance of my Principal and Mentor. I am much more willing and open to pursue different avenues to build and maintain trusting relationships with staff. I’ve worked one-on-one and presented several teachers with new ideas and strategies for ensuring all students can meet objectives, but have different ways of demonstrating them. I’ve facilitated and worked alongside the Science Department as they rolled out a new cross-curricular project with our Math team, which required a conglomerate of teacher communication and learning
“I was shocked! I couldn’t believe that what I do for kids was a reason to be teacher of the year. I do what I do for kids because I have a passion for helping kids. I knew from a young age I wanted to help children.” Mr. Ghasedi is still a little surprised he received this award. He is happy that people respect the work he is doing
Being strong in my field, I decided to apply for a position as a math tutor. I received the job. I also ran for the freshman representative for Minority Achievers in Science (MAS) and was voted in. The experiences have helped me develop my skills and help others. As a tutor, I aid students in seeing the concepts; then they do well. In addition, I represent MAS, and they feel comfortable with my representation. Nothing makes me feel better than being around people and helping them.
I am engaged in professional development activities, I am committed to becoming a teacher, I promote life-long learning, I am excited to become a teaching and to learn more about teaching, I believe that all students can learn, and I believe that I play a large role in influencing student learning. On campus, I am working towards becoming a member of the organization SNEA. I want to become a member because I already go to the meetings on campus and I want to continue to be a part of it when I am teaching. Outside of school, I work at the Boys and Girls Club. Working at the Boys and Girls Club gives me vast amounts of experience working with children from ages birth to fifth grade. With working at the Boys and Girls Club, I am required to continue my professional development as well. I have attended seminars about incorporating play into course work, how to develop as a professional if I were to want my own education center, and obtaining certificates for CPR, First Aid, and
I wanted to start making a difference in kids as soon as I had the chance. I started to take Early Childhood Education classes at my school. This course was rigorous and so important, due to the fact we ran a preschool of 20 four and five-year old’s. Their education was in our hands; we were that building block for their first insight on school. I feel in love with writing lesson plans and being hand in hand with other teachers and the students became a part of my life that I never wanted to go away. I interned at an elementary school just to get more involved and learn more about collaborating. I started taking a Teaching as a Profession class, so I could not only know today’s education but become familiar with the history of education, how to accommodate your classroom for students with special needs, and the issues in todays education. I completed this class and took the state mandated test to complete the pathway and get a cord at graduation. I came in on Sundays to work and study with my teacher for this test and it all paid off when I passed the test with the highest score out of the nine people who took the test. While this was all happening I was inducted into National Beta Club for my grades and averages in my classes, which mostly included advanced courses. I then completed the Early
As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
After graduation from KOREA University, I decided to enter Hyndai MotorCompany(HMC), which is the largest Korean car manufacturer and global player, to pursue a career as an international businessman. In January 1991, I joined Domestic Finance Team of HMC. My specific assignment was to plan monthly and annual financial schedules for HMC's domestic funding needs. About two years later, in January of 1993, I was transferred to Retail Finance Team from Domestic Finance Team and responsible for financing by the sales and factoring of Car Receivables.
I began to strive for straight A’s and my days consisted of hard work and constant studying. I feel that I was hit with a sudden feeling to become a better student because of all my teachers who motivated me to do well and I did not like being one of the only students to not do well in school. Without Edison I never would have become a leader, I never would have been Editor-in-Chief for our newsletter, I never would have gotten Rotary, and I never would have understood who I truly wanted to be but my drive that was created here has shaped me, it really has shaped all of us, and for that I am eternally grateful. Before attending Edison I loved making a difference but I feel that my wish to make a difference will become a reality because of all of my experiences here, one day I wish to change the world, whether it be helping the homeless, editing a book that will change lives, informing the public about major issues or even changing our environment. I know I can do it because of how much motivation we are given by our amazing teachers. It it our teachers that play a huge role in our daily lives, they help us when we can’t help ourselves, throughout my years with them they aren’t just our teachers, they are family, our
In the middle of my junior year, I got a job with the YMCA for an After School Leader position at a local elementary school. My family was surprised that I applied for this job because it would require that I scold kids and yell across fields, which is out of my character. Being a soft-spoken person, I would have to put more effort into my job than my coworkers would but, I was more than ready to step up to the job. Everyday immediately after school, I report to Pu’u Kukui Elementary School and before getting out of the car, I shake off any negative energy so that I can lead in the best way that I can. As an after school leader, I get to spend time with these students on a daily basis but on a deeper level than most teachers. I organize games
Throughout my life, I have had plenty of opportunities to take on demanding roles in my school, community, and personal life. My many commitments included competitive dance, volunteering at my local hospital, maintaining high grades in school, and taking part in the planning of a variety of other school and community events. The

I spent most of my time in a first grade classroom. In this classroom I observed the children as well as the teacher and paraprofessional. This classroom had children with special needs and that is why there was a paraprofessional in the classroom for half the day. What I observed in this classroom was how children with special need should be handle and taught. The teachers in this room loves her job and each student in her class. While in the classroom the teacher allowed me to help with children with their work, read to them and help them with anything else that they needed. During this field experience I got to give back to not only a school, but to a community that is very near and dear to my heart. I hope that I touched each student in a special way, because the students that I got the opportunity to help learn touched my
Never in a million years would I have thought I would be a teacher, much less a candidate for teacher of the year because, as a child, I was one of those kids who didn’t really like school. I was the child who stared out the window wishing I was anywhere but there. It was the teachers who cared enough to foster my creative side , made learning fun and made me feel my worth that kept me in school along they way. That is the teacher I try to be for others.
Everything was great and I spend a great eight years. I was a good student in all of my natural science classes, especially in Biology and Math classes. I was in contact with many of my school friends and teachers in every of our school activities. I still remember playing soccer for our school team when I was thirteen-years-old. Actually, I still play soccer and I play awesome, but I don’t want to be a player. In addition, my elementary school life was great and successful eight years for me. I had a great respect and personal admiration how our school teachers, stuff workers, and directors treated us especially, our educational manager, Mr. Belay Amara, because he treated everyone like his own son or daughter. He was a great gentleman and I really admire him for what he has
