Good Cop vs. Bad Cop
Have you ever met a cop that was corrupt to the point that you wanted to do something about it? What would you think if I told you that there is a cop that thought exactly the same and even tried to do something about it? That man’s name is Frank Serpico. Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 14th 1936, Frank was a man with a strong heart and an almost pure morality and understanding of justice. In 1959, he became a police officer and served a good twelve years in the NYPD. Serpico was shot in a drug raid in 1971, by a drug dealer who had a .22 LR handgun. The bullet went through his cheek bone and lodged itself in the top of his jaw bone. Frank used perseverance, passion, and courage to try and put an end to the corruption of the NYPD. …show more content…

First of all, he had to deal with the fact that nobody in his force trusted him, let alone liked him at all. In fact it was this very police force that left him for dead during the drug raid. A man, who lived in the apartment across from the one occupied by the suspects, was the one to help him. Not knowing he was a cop, he was sent to the Greenpoint Hospital. Furthermore, the fact that he was shot and lived to tell about it is a great way to see that he persevered. Finally, and unfortunately, he now has to live his life with a cane, because the shot to his head made it difficult for him to walk. Thanks to all these actions, Frank preformed, he persevered and lived to tell about
