"In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." When we look at this quote that was said by Anne Frank, we ask ourselves, why would she be saying this when she's only months near death? I believe that Anne had a joyful spirit, so she was positive and uplifting to others. I also think that she thought that everyone should be, and was just like her, and that's why the quote, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." was written in her diary. From the collections version of the script and the play we watched, I've learned that Anne was very jumpy and talkative. Those characteristics describe what was in her diary perfectly. Anne Frank just always saw the best in everyone. …show more content…
The first reason that supports my thesis, is that Anne Frank had a joyful spirit even when she was in misery.
Anne always wanted to be playing or dancing. She asked peter to dance, but that had no chance, so instead, Margot. Either way, she was dancing. Anne had once said, "I'm going to be a famous dancer or singer... or something wonderful." Anne had so many dreams of what she'd become when she got out of hiding. Also, after she had been sitting quietly for hours on end, her energy would burst right out of her. She was extra joyful and spirited after the long ours of silence. Nevertheless, Anne had high spirits throughout the whole day and would make the best of her
life. Additionally, Anne had always seen the best in everyone. Mr. Mussel was a grumpy man that did not get along with Anne, nor did he get along with Peter. Of course Mr. Mussel wasn't Anne's favorite resident of the annex, but she tried to be the best roommate that she could be. Anne let the newcomer choose when he got his alone time in the room, and gave him as much privacy as possible as a child. She even made him a present for Hanukkah. "And last, but never least, my roommate, Mr. Mussel!" Just from this one example, you can tell how Anne saw the best of each and every person. If you had read the diary and watched the play, you would've been able to notice that Anne gave good vibes to the family and friends that lived in the annex. She always knew how to make everyone laugh. She would dance around like a clown to lighten the mood. Like when Anne tried on Mrs. Van Dan's fur coat and Mrs. Van Dan taught her to say, "Remember Mr so-and-so, remember I'm a lady." Anne was always excited about something that she was going to do after the war. It is sad to say that her dreams never came true, but she was a true hero. For the most part, Anne had a positive attitude. She definitely gave the members of the annex quite a show with her good vibes and humor. From what I've seen in the play, and read in the book, I can conclude that Anne was hopeful, positive, and uplifting. "In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart." This quote shows the Anne Frank character accurately. That's why I think Anne Frank wrote the quote.
The “Diary of Anne Frank” is a real diary written by Anne Frank, during the time of the Holocaust. She describes her days hiding in a secret annex with seven other people. Some days they got along and others they didn’t, but in the end they all respected each other. In the “Diary of Anne Frank,” Anne Frank says, “ I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are really good at heart.” This message serves as a theme throughout the diary. Throughout the diary, she explains how the people she spent her days with were good people at heart.
Jews. He took it upon himself and Miep to give the two families in hiding
In Bettelheim's essay, The Ignored Lessons of Anne Frank, he criticizes Anne Frank's father because of the way he had his whole family hiding out in the attic of one family. Bettelheim claims he is not criticizing Mr. Frank, he just wants his readers to reexamine the way we read history. In his essay, Bettelheim concinced me that we, as readers should look again at the text and realize all the possibilities that the Franks had.
I told you why Anne had felt this way during her ordeal, and what this reveals about her character and her views about life. Anne is a strong and heroic young girl who has a heart for others and she is very compassionate towards others. Which is a great quality to have in that time period she was going through? No one could have done it better than Anne. She helped people look at the good in the situations she was never the one mention the negative things. You think how you would react to this situation. Would you be buoyant? Or would you be colorless in this and always look at the crummy never say anything positive. All quotes can be found in the collections book pages
How would you feel if you were a Jew in World War II? Anne Frank was a Jew in World War II. The play we read was called the diary of Anne Frank. She said, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." According to the diary she believed in the quality in people even after hardships her family has endured. Anne Frank had to go into hiding from Hitler because he wanted to kill all of the Jews. He thought that they should not be allowed to practice their religion. Because of this, she had to go into hiding for two years. Here are some ways she showed her belief that people were good at heart. The first reason is she thought of different ways to make her family happy in the darkest of times. The second reason is Mr. Van Daan stole bread to feed himself. The third reason was she found someone to talk to even when she was trapped for two years. She was believing in everyone else as they were breaking down in fear.
Everyday, their lives are filled with darkness and degeneracy. The whole world’s scared and they decide to swallow the fear. Growing up in a wartime environment isn’t easy at all. All of their lives have been mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood. Yet, Anne Frank still believes that people are good at heart.
" 'How can I join such a club?' I icily asked. 'Look at what the
This shows she good at heart because she had very little money, and she managed to gives gifts out. After a while, Anne started to feel more comfortable with strangers in the Annex. In act 2 scene 1 she starts to talk to Peter Van Doon more. They start to like each other and the end up falling in
Anne’s thoughts and perspectives of stuff she encountered with, or the struggles she endured weren’t shown in depth in the film. Her curiosity and wonders of countless stuff weren’t shown to the best of ability. Anne was a young girl figuring out many new things in life, in the film however her thoughts aren’t really elaborated. Making the film less interesting, considering the book is a diary full of her encounters of war and the disruptive life that she constantly envisaged throughout her life. She says, “What does that matter? I want to write, but more than that, I want to bring out all kinds of things that lie buried deep in my heart. (20 June, 1942). This quote accentuates the way she wants to write stuff, in the film however she doesn’t
Anne Frank stated in her diary that "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." As a Jewish teenager during the time of the Holocaust, Anne had been hiding in an attic with her parents and sister, as well as the Van Daans, their son, and Mr Dussel. This time was extremely rough for her entire race. This quote shows how optimistic she really was. She had the attitude to think that even underneath all of the hatred that not only the Nazis beheld, but perhaps also the people that she was hiding with for years, there was at least a small amount of good in them. With that optimism, came the strong hope that she had. She was completely aware that the Nazis were not good people, but she refused to take that as a
There have been countless people throughout time who were wonderful people, and Anne Frank was one of those people. She has multiple great quotes such as, “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Most people would have considered Anne to have been a brave individual. I also feel that Anne was a extremely honorable person. Another characteristic of Anne that made her so wonderful is that she was persistent.
In my English class we were learning about Anne Frank and her life during the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, many people, mostly Jews lost their lives; Anne was one of the 6 million Jews who died. Before her family and everyone else were taken to concentration camps Anne liked writing in her diary. After the war Anne father the only one in their family that survived received Anne’s diary from Miep, the caretaker of the families while they were hiding. One of the most eye catching quotes of Anne’s was” I believe people are really good at heart”, I believe Anne when she says that.
“There's only one rule you need to remember: laugh at everything and forget everybody else! It sound egotistical, but it's actually the only cure for those suffering from self-pity.” (Frank 321) Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who went into hiding during World War II to avoid being captured by the Nazis. She and seven other people had to hide in a secret annex Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. Anne received a diary on her 13th birthday and wrote about all the little things that had happened to her throughout the day.
How do you feel about Anne after reading portions of her diary and watching the movie? I feel like I know her like we could’ve been friends. She was so straight forward if she didn't like something she said it she was so honest, she told you when she was mad and how she felt and how she wishes to grow up and have a life. She believed in everyone even those who “disliked” her she still had
When she goes through some tragic event she always shows her belief that her eternal life will be better than her worldly good. Anne is always trying to find God’s work in her trials and tribulations through life. Anne Bradstreet seemed almost optimistic in a way through her religion. No matter the event of pain she was faced with. she finds it a lesson from God. Bradstreet shows this in her poem: “Verses upon the Burning of our House, July 10th, 1666”(ThoughtCo.)
