Joe’s affirmation for Daisy has him jealous of the closeness that Daisy and the lodger develop. Joe begins to get upset and comes between Daisy and the Lodger which upsets Daisy more. Joe encounters Daisy and the Lodger on a street bench late at night and confronts them. He has finally had enough. Joe “connects” what the dots he has and convinces not only himself but others that “the Lodger flipped the pictures of the woman in the room, therefore he is the Avenger. He has detectives go into the lodger's room and they find a black bag with a gun, and a map of the Avenger’s killings. Not only does Joe and the Buntings believe this, but as the audience, no matter the romantic relationship between Daisy and the Lodger, the evidence shows that he must be the Avenger which is Hitchcock’s intention. After the lodger gets away, Joe causes a bar full of people to run and mob the Lodger. When Joe finds out that the real Avenger has been caught, he goes out to save the lodger and more importantly Daisy. However, as soon as he gets there, the newspaper boy arrives to inform the masses that the Avenger has been caught. The media and newspaper stands inform the crowd and shape how they should feel. The hate and anger against the Lodger, turn into hate and Anger that the lodger isn’t the Avenger and that they cannot kill the actually Avenger. The way Hitchcock has this happen says everything
This film, directed by David O. Russell, takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where former teacher Pat Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper) is released after 8 months of hospitalization by his mother Delores (2012). Due to living with bipolar disorder with mood swings, Pat has anger outburst if not managed properly. After finding his wife cheating and after brutally beating the man with her, Pat was committed where he was closely watched and given treatment such as medication (that could be spit out easily). With the court’s
He has them followed so she takes the boys and goes into hiding. The family takes residence in a house where the previous family had been murdered, which they are unaware of at the time. A supporting character, the deputy, is on a mission trying to break the cycle of murders that are happening by burning the houses of where the murders took place. The deputy and Courtney become friends after he helps fight off sheriffs that try to take the boys away. During this time Dylan is being shown murder videos by the children of the dead families. Clint eventually gets custody of the boys, and Courtney goes with them so that they will not get separated. While they are all together, Dylan’s brother Zach becomes possessed by the dead children and decides to make a murder video of his own family. Zach kills his father, and attempts to kill his mother and brother, but is stopped by the deputy. In the end, the deputy breaks the cycle of the murders and saves Courtney and Dylan, while Zach is consumed by Bughuul, an evil spirit. The main character’s role can be viewed as an independent mother who does whatever it takes to keep her boys safe. Although the movie doesn’t show it, Courtney was abused by her ex-husband Clint, which is why she left with the boys in the first place. In most films, the main reason for divorce in families is because the husband is abusive.

American Psycho is a savage account of a wealthy investment banker in the late 80s that commits heinous acts of murder, rape, and torture. Although on the surface, American Psycho seems as though it is just another horror story, it actually has a much deeper message. This story is a harsh critique of a superficial Wall Street society in the late 80s that was rampant with materialism and greed. This is the society in which the main character Patrick Bateman lives–where appearance, material possessions, and status define a person. This superficial existence leaves him hollow and dead inside and turns him into a psychopathic killer. A society such as this, devoid of any morality, inevitably creates psychopaths such as Bateman. The film shows an excellent portrayal of a vacant, nihilistic killer with no feelings or emotions. However, there is something more to the story that the film did not quite capture. The book seems to not only be a satirical take on this society, but a tragedy as well. Recreating the dinner scene with his secretary Jean shows that underneath the surface Patrick Bateman is, indeed, a human being with real feelings and emotions, and that it is a great tragedy that this superficial society has turned him into a monster.

Situational theory believes that offenders are often opportunistic therefore; it aims to limit the opportunities that offenders have to participate in criminal behaviour (Morgan, Boxall, Linderman, Anderson 2012).
