Golf began when some Scotsman were hitting rocks with sticks in the fifteenth century. Was this sport made just for the men, or is it a sport that everyone can enjoy? Many say golf means, “Gentlemen only; Ladies forbidden.” This makes one believe that women are not allowed to enjoy the game of golf. This however came from men. The men believed this was their time to be men and to get away from their wives and children. Golf is just as much of a woman’s sport as it is a mans. Golf is a sport where everyone is equal, except the fact that women get to tee off up closer to the hole. This is due to the fact that women are not as strong and the men were trying to even up the playing field. The advantage towards women may not be fair to the men, but they are the ones that thought women need to be closer because they are not as good as men are. Is golf a game just for the men, or is it a sport that everyone can share and use just to have a great time?
Golf standing for ‘Gentleman only; ladies forbidden’ is just an “old husbands tale.” Husbands would use the term as a joke. It was used by the men who used golf as a way to get away from their wives and to just be a man. …show more content…

The top goal is to get to the U.S. open. All the golfers that are really serious about the game wants to get there and the ones that golf just for fun strive to get par, birdie, or even an eagle. They all want to get their best round ever. That is the reason that every golfer struggles “to master consistency- to develop a swing you trust and putt with simplicity and ease.” Golfers want this. They all want to be able to say I have a consistent game. One must know that a consistent game for one person might be different than someone else’s consistent game.
