Module 1 Assignment: Is Goldilocks guilty? Why or Why not? The Goldilocks and the Bears scenario provides us with a plethora of facts to consider carefully. In summary of the case and the interviews connected to it, I found that Goldilocks entered the house because the door was slightly ajar and she claims to have had no ill intent when doing so. Controversially, the Bears stated they left with the door to their property closed; this sets multiple viewpoints into play. To continue, as Goldilocks traversed the house, she saw warm porridge on the dinner table and proceeded to eat a portion of it because she claims she was starving and lost. To begin, there is direct evidence that proves the break in of Goldilocks. In their interview, the Bears state that they left their home with the door closed, the beds made, and the porridge uneaten; however, once they returned, they found their food eaten and Goldilocks resting in Baby Bear’s bed. From this, we can deviate the fact that Goldilocks broke an entry, but is she guilty of doing something wrong? Some may say the young girl is innocent because she was lost, hungry, and didn’t mean any harm; this is an understandable argument, but there is circumstantial evidence that contradicts these claims. For instance, Goldilocks might have been untruthful in her statement because she said she “didn't mean to break the chair”; however, the Bears claim in their statement that no furniture was damaged. The bears wouldn’t gain anything from saying the furniture wasn’t broken, so this brings about the question: is Goldilocks pretending to be innocent? To begin, if the home of the Bears is on a path, then Goldilocks could have found her way home. Not to mention, the YouTube video claims that, after the Bears frightened Goldilocks, she ran straight back to her house. If she was starving, lost, and in need of help, then how could she immediately go back to her house after being caught? First of all, one could say that Goldilocks isn’t guilty because she was lost and hungry. Nevertheless, hunger doesn’t serve as an excuse for breaking into someone else’s house. Furthermore, the Bears’ house resides on a path, so it’s unlikely she wasn’t able to find her way back home. On a similar note, it is reasonable to think that the Bears’ reaction to Goldilocks in Baby Bear's bed was aggressive and unwarranted, but no physical harm was done to Goldilocks and their anger could be justified, seeing as their house was broken into, their beds were slept in, their porridge was eaten, and a chair was possibly
