In the article “Learning by Degrees” by Rebecca Mead describes both sides of the argument is college worth the money. Rebecca tells us the benefits of going to college by giving examples of certain degrees that are paying well and have a good hiring rate. For example college students who earn a degree in business have a 44% chance of making it into a job right out of college or students majoring in economics have a good starting pay around $50,000 per year and could get to over $100,000 before they retire. Both of those examples show why college is a good investment and will get people better jobs.
Preparing for College after graduating from high school is considered to be as one of the most thought by students. Even so, most students nowadays are uncertain whether attending college will be a good advantage for them. Some believe that it is a waste of time and money, but most people consider it as a reason to thrive in life. Unlike High school, College is certainly different because it determines your future and should be taken more earnestly by the students. College education is a worth of cost because it basically provides students with great benefits, which can be a good help in shaping their future goals.
College is thought of as what every parent wants for their child, so they can go off andmake something of themselves. For the most part, this is true. Those who attend college arebetter off than those who do not, on average, earning far more than their undereducatedcounterparts. College is a worthwhile investment and should be pursued by all who have thechance because it helps students further their knowledge, it is a place to find who you are, and itgives them a different perspective of the world.College is worth the cost because if college was available for everybody and collegedegrees were handed out as commonly and at the same rate as high school diplomas then collegewould not be that special. Therefore, college would just be an extension of high school. Ifanyone could get their hands on a degree, how would you be able to get the job you want? It isbetter for college to cost money because if a student really wants to attend college and furthertheir education, they should have already been willing to pay or to find a way to pay for collegeto get the upper hand on the general

One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
Sometimes students question themselves if college is really worth it? That question has many answers that only a student can answer and decide for him or herself. For some students college can have a positive, life-long outcome. However, there are many obstacles when it comes to college. A student has to be very dedicated in school, and they have to know how to manage their personal life, school and work. College seems like it has more negative effects than it does positive for some people. For the following reasons college is not worth the cost because it is very difficult to find jobs after graduating or they find a job that is not in their field, some students who are not academically prepared wind up dropping out of school and wasting their money and some students struggle to balance school life, personal life and work life. As a result these students end up dropping out of school.
Most people know that having a college degree could get you a higher paycheck. However, what people do not know is how much of a difference that degree could get you. Through a study of more than 6 million employees, it was found that people with a four-year degree make about $215,000 more than people without a degree. In addition, people with a graduate degree can make about $440,000 more over a period of twenty years, according to The Ladders (2013, September 7 p. 1). Three quarters of the highest paying industries, eighty percent professionals hold at least a four-year degree. (The Ladders 2013, September 3 p. 2).
Most people today think of college as simply a place to get a better education, or merely as a steppingstone to financial success. College is far more than that. College is an experience that shapes a person, which can have both positive and negative outcomes. It is all up to the students to make the college experience worth their time and effort. Students must realize the importance of the responsibilities now demanded of them by higher education.

There is a thin line of people who should and should not attend college. That is a huge decision that could either be the best decision they have ever made or it could be a costly mistake causing thousands of dollars of debt to pile up. There are reasons such as costly tuitions, unnecessary fees, no guarantee of a career, piling of debt, and questionable educational quality, that lead me to believe that college is not worth the money people pay for it.
Also the earning gap between a college degree holder and a high school graduate is increasing rapidly. According to the research done by Forbes, a high school graduate earns around $23000 per year on an average, however a typical college graduate earns $55000 per year on an average. This shows that getting a college degree not only helps to get a job but also makes you
Having a college education is very beneficial for a person’s future. The degree itself is not the most beneficial aspect of a person’s success in the future nor is the type or rank of school attended will be most beneficial. The education received throughout the years in college will be the most beneficial reward in a student’s life. The education a person receives from a college experience is not only the textbook education or the education provided by the professors but also the real-life experiences. The real-life experience benefits are what will truly matter in the future. A few specific benefits from a college education are the life experiences, the commitment to someone/something other than yourself, the skills achieved such as time management and organization, and also the self-sufficiency a person profits. College is also a great time to find yourself through the chaos of balancing life and maintaining passing grades. “Another one of the many benefits of a college education is meeting others from distant places with diverse backgrounds.” (McGuire) In high school, students do not have the wide range of people from different backgrounds. In college, students are introduced to everything new to life and along with that comes other students from different areas of life. Going to college and having the
