Gods From Outer Space This was a very interesting book to read. Erich Von Daniken is the author, whose previous works include "The Chariots of the Gods" and "The Gold of the Gods" which in actuality was published after this one. This book right off the bat goes into some detail about our author. It specifically says "Erich Von Daniken is not a scholar. He is an autodidact, someone who is self taught. That is what made his previous book so successful, due to the fact he isn't impartial on anything. He his free of prejudice from colleagues and professors." His audience, so it seems, isn't directed towards anyone particular group of people, but to anybody with the curiosity and willingness to imagine and to question the unknown. Erich Von Daniken isn't qualified to write anything in my personal opinion. This man has no degree, no skills in writing (thank god for editors), all he has is the drive to find the unknown. He has the desire to question and dig deep into possibilities discredited by others who are specialized and honored in this field of work. He is the black sheep of archeologists. Before I had ever heard of this book I had a great curiosity and passion about aliens and the "untold history of mankind." I was hooked before I opened the front cover; I didn't care what kind of credentials this author had. The only thing that bugged me was the age of this book. Published in 1968 left me a little worried, hoping this book wouldn't be too outdated. The speculation and theories are what interest me and that's exactly what this book is all about. Throughout the whole book the author is keenly aware that his explanations and ideas are constantly and will continually be discredited by professionals acros... ... middle of paper ... ...le that an E.T. life form came unto our world and changed the course of man? Which do you think is more likely to happen? There are people out there who believe in God the almighty but don't believe that aliens could come to earth. Why is that so hard to believe when you believe something that's only been written down in a book by old men? Science today proves aliens do exist, science today proves it's possible to travel from planet to planet. To make a long paragraph short; I'm not ruling anything out until I'm dead and I go to heaven or hell, or someone finally figures out the mysteries of the universe. I find the latter statement rather unlikely. I'm sure we will never know the answers about past E.T. visits unless they come back and tell us. By the time everything is deciphered and excavated, unearthed and published; it will be far away from now.
