Gay marriage should be illegal because it is a sin. It is against natural law, and God disapproves of the lifestyle choice.
The United States is a theocracy. Every citizen is a Christian; therefore, everyone believes in the Bible. In the United States, we do not advocate for civil liberties and/or religious freedom. The right to marry whom you love? That is an abomination!
As we all know, the eighth commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” clearly states that marriage to the opposite sex is a sin. In Paul’s Letters to the Corinthians, Paul states openly that it is wrongful for women to pray without a head covering and for men to have long hair, but we live in a contemporary society! We have to open ourselves to new ideas! It is not wrong to not wear a head covering because it is Paul that says it instead of Jesus. Even though Jesus never says homosexuality is a sin, because it is written in books such as Leviticus, which also supports polygamy, which is widely and legally practiced in modern American society, and Paul’s Letters to the Corinthians, we cannot support gay rights...
...a was based on Christian beliefs, hence, a nation under God. Acts 5: 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than any human authority”(Holy Bible). This Biblical verse reflects the Christian beliefs of our founders that men should try to live their lives as God desires. Leviticus 18: 22 says that you should not lie with another man as a women; it is an abomination (Holy Bible). If the United States was truly obedient to God as it should be then there would not be any laws passed allowing gay marriage or abortion. These go against the Bible, the word of God, but the Government has deemed them acceptable. This issue shows how obedience to authority can cripple a nation. The Government is allowing an issue they should never have considered to become recognized as acceptable. If this path continues, society will continue to crumble and decay.
God has declared through His loving kindness and His righteousness how He enjoys heterosexual relationships, as Creator of man and woman. God created a woman from Adam’s rib so that Adam would not be alone. Upon completion of God creating woman, God asked Adam to name her; Adam declared she would be called woman as she was created with man’s rib, but her name will be Eve as she is the first woman. Therefore, that pleased God, and we have the first marriage. A marriage where to people man and woman come together. They were creatively designed by God to fit each other. God did not create man to lay with another man, as their bodies are not designed to fit or complement each other. Adam was given instructions from God not to eat from the tree of knowledge and as head of the marriage; it was his responsibility to enforce God’s command. Yet he failed and ate with Eve from the tree. And later that day, as God was walking in the garden in the coolness of the day, He called out to Adam. Adam and Eve were hiding from Him, as they knew they blew it. When God questioned Adam why did he eat from the tree, Adam blamed Eve. God is fair and just and He loves us all. Even when they had sinned against God, God loved them and clothed them with animal skins. In order for Him to provide the animal skins, He had to kill the animal.
America today still maintains the separation of church and state, an idea that was founded by some of the earliest colonists.... ... middle of paper ... ... William Penn, Quaker and founder of Pennsylvania, soon after wrote the Pennsylvania Charter of Privileges and Liberties, a constitution for the colony of Pennsylvania, which enabled the people to freely practice their religion of choice without fear of government punishment. American colonies were clearly established with the intent to all live together with Christian beliefs, but with so many interpretations and versions of the same religious scripture, freedom to practice whichever adaptation feels right became most important in colonial life. And as a safe haven for those who were persecuted in their home countries, America truly flourished as a place for the religiously tolerant.
The United States of America, as a whole, has pushed for rights and equality for any and all people. Gay rights and racial equality have received an ample amount of support as well as opposition. Even bringing up the other side’s argument may cause a debate in almost any environment. Today, Americans are easily offended by things that don’t agree with what they believe. America is full of passionate people who always have a cause to fight for or against. Gay marriage has been opposed countless times on local, state, and national levels. “Almost two- thirds of Republicans oppose the Supreme Court’s backing of gay marriage, according to Reuters/Ipsos Poll ” (Reuters). Even though another online survey stated that “more than half of Americans support it,” they still
There were many different attitudes from the religious people. Some hailed the Supreme Court decision as righteous and holy, while majority deplored it as an affront to God. Many Americans with Christianity beliefs are not happy, with the same sex marriage. They go by the Bible, and fell the “Courts decision does not alter the Lords doctrine that marriage is a union between a man and a woman”. They still show respect towards those who have different believes, but will continue to teach and promote marriage between a man and a woman as a part of their doctrine and
America has been named the "melting pot" of the world. It houses many different cultures, nationalities, ideas and religions. There are Christians, Jews, Catholics, Buddhists, Mormons, Hindus, Spiritualists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Islamic, plus many more. America is unique in that all these religions are represented in a nation that is only 200 years old. And America has upheld, throughout history, that the freedom and equality of religion is extremely important in order for this nation to function as a free nation. The foundations of America were set as a result of England's persecution; more specifically, England's religious persecution. The colonists wanted to create a nation that allowed people to be free. They desired to speak what they wanted to speak, do what they wanted to do, and practice what they wanted to practice... without the government watching their every move. Thus came religious freedom.
... what can be considered one of the most forward thinking countries in the world. The longer we hold out on allowing homosexual couples to marry, the further we will fall behind in the world. We cannot continuously look down upon other countries degradation of particular minorities while we continue to do the same thing in our own country. Gay marriage it simply gives another minority the opportunity to express their love. Being married involves legal matters, and religion is simply something that we have added to it. The ideals of marriage have been ever-evolving and we as Americans, the pillar of modernization, the ever futuristic mainstay, should be open-minded enough to evolve even more to benefit the homosexual community. If not open-minded enough, look at the laws: America established itself upon the ideals of equality for all. We should follow our own rules.
Many disagree, due to the Leviticus 18:22 quote; “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” Homosexuality is a sin under the law of the bible. The United States is a nation under god, as it is stated in the pledge. To practice homosexuality legally would be a direct violation of the United States as a nation under god. It is also said to be wrong because it defeats the purpose of procreation; which is only physically possible between a man and a woman. This is also a theory stated in the bible; “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” (Gen. 1:28-29). Meaning that it is our duty as humans to procreate. This is obviously something a homosexual couple would be unable to do, thus not fulfilling their responsibility clearly stated in the bible. "From the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife." (Mark 10:6-7); this bible quote states that any marriage that is true is a marriage between a man and a woman. Allowing ...
Legalizing gay marriage has been a controversial topic in the past few years. In my opinion, gay people should be allowed to get married because it is a civil right. It shouldn 't matter what gender they prefer because they 're still regular people. Making gay marriage illegal, is the same as taking away someone 's freedom and civil rights. That is unethical and completely awful. There 's no harm being done by letting two people who are in love with each other get married. However, many religious fundamentalists are against this and believe gay marriage is wrong and needs to be stopped. Homosexual couples should have the right to get married because it 's a civil right and their sexual preference doesn 't make them any less human.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 3:28 the following words, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” As we consider these words, there are those who argue that this passage is the authority to approve homosexuals. Anyone who arrives at this conclusion has failed to examine carefully the context of the passage under consideration. The Apostle Paul is not providing permission or approval for homosexual activities or relationships. He is indeed, providing information about the subject of salvation. In the previous verses, vv. 26-27, Paul discussed the subject of salvation in Christ. He argued that we are all sons of God through obedient faith in Christ Jesus, and that all those who obey the gospel being baptized into Christ, have put on Christ (v. 27). The message of Galatians 3:28 is one in which Paul emphasizes the fact that concerning the salvation of man, we can all be recipients of it, so long as we are obedient to God. In the book of Acts, Peter made the following comment, “Then Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘In truth I perceived that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts
With the economic support, the adoption rates rising, and the equality same-sex couples deserve, gay marriage deserves to be legalized throughout the nation and the world. Rejecting the right of marriage to these couples hurts them and the way they are able to live their lives. Everyone deserves marriage and life equality despite the person they love because we have equality rights based on us as an individual, not on who we decide to love.
"Homosexual [persons], like everyone else, should not suffer from prejudice against their basic human rights. They have a right to respect, friendship, and justice. They should have an active role in the Christian community.(To Live)
Like many people in our time, Christians are studying and discussing issues related to human sexuality over many years. What is God’s view of sexuality? How are the pressures from a broader culture and the development of technology affecting God’s role in regards to human sexuality in tomorrow 's society?
Gay and lesbian unions have been for a long time a subject that no one liked to discuss. For the last few decades, gays and lesbians have come out and expressed their sexuality preferences. Many believe that same sex marriage should not be legalized because it's against the moral. It's against the definition of marriage, which is considered as the union of a man and a woman as a husband and wife. Same sex marriage should be legalized because the way society views the union of lesbian and gays can a change. Another reason why same sex marriage should be legalized is that children that are issued from a gay or lesbian couple will be loved and raised in a family that is legally recognized under the law. Lesbians and gays also deserve to have the same rights as heterosexuals.
Legalizing gay marriage has caused many problems in the society today. The U.S. Constitution is making some people go against their religious beliefs because of this law. I personally do not think people should have to go against their religion to support something that God would not be pleased with. We have enough things going on in this horrible world and irrelevant things like this should not be added to society’s problems.
