Between Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, and Carlo Carlei’s version of Romeo and Juliet, Carlo Carlei’s version takes the cake. First of all the film by Baz Luhrmann was very distant to the setting in which William Shakespeare had written it, because they use guns instead of swords. Secondly, The set that was used for Baz Luhrmann’s version was not in Italy at all, instead it was filmed in mexico, and the U.S. Lastly, the actor that Carlo chose to play benvolio was way better than the actor in Baz’s version, because he didn’t look like a high school bully. What do you think of when you hear Romeo and Juliet, you think of old tragedy with swordplay, and heartbreak, right?

I believe that Juliet and Maria are so called the “engineers” of their respective lovers. Firstly, because during the setting of both their times (late fifteen-century for Romeo and Juliet and the late 50’s for West Side Story) women were not that prominently empowered to stand up for themselves specially to fight for love or even what they truly believed in. Moreover, strong women like Juliet and Maria are exceptional during their times, most importantly how they broke traditions like choosing a forbidden partner. In both their cases, from the beginning two opposing families who despise each other. Although, both strong female characters still followed for what their hearts desired and fought for their love even though it resulted a tremendous
There Is No Hole Deeper Than True Love— The Original Prince Charming “The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief - But the pain of grief is only a shadow when compared with the pain of never risking love.” Hilary Stanton wrote.
Romeo and Juliet is a famous tragic play written by the well known William Shakespeare. It portrays many different views and definitions on the term “love”. Though there are many unique ways of displaying love, the two that stand the most in this play are the love of honoring your family and of course the infamous love in the play between Romeo and Juliet, which is romantic love. With many different similarities and differences between the two, the list goes on to what seems to be forever. While I agree that both types of love are equally unique and extremely important in this play, I believe that the power of romantic love is much stronger than family honor.

Romeo and Juliet, often called the greatest love story of all times, has a clear distinction from other of Shakespeare´s tragedies. The classical tale is about the forbidden love and passion shared between the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. The love they had for each other is a fervent response to the unjust world they lived in and the authorities in it. Nevertheless they were unwilling to abandon their authorities: themselves, their families, their faith, their state, their prince. To live the lives they desire (a life together in Verona, their families at peace, their faith) they have to alter the cosmos, and that is why they are always evoking the dark and light imagery, evoking the moon and sun; day and night.
