Introduction
I. Attention Getter: GM technology has been around for the past 20 years, and today, 70-80% of the foods we eat in the United States, both at home and away from home, contain ingredients that have been genetically modified.
II. Speaker Credibility: After finding out that GMO exist everywhere I conducted extensive research into the topic and tried to find out the important things I found.

III. Relevance to Your Audience: Food is a major part of us college kids and knowing what you eat is very essential.

According to an article written by Somini Sengupta published on 19 Sept, 2006 in the New York Times companies like Monsanto have taken disadvantages of GMO for an instance the GMO cotton in India turned out to be a huge failure causing devastating impacts on the Indian Farmers.

C. The currently drafted guidelines for the labelling of foods obtained through certain techniques of genetic modification/genetic engineering (FAO/WHO, 2003e) are still in an early stage of discussion and many sections are still not finalized.
a.) Although there is scant experience regarding consumers' reactions to labelling of genetically engineered foods, there is concern within the food industry that labels would lead consumers to infer that the products were inferior to conventional products.
b.) The international council of science also suggests that more informative food labelling should be implemented which informs you about the type of transformation and any resulting compositional changes.
Transition: Now that we know a little bit about what GMO and why it needs to be listed let’s talk about the safety impacts of GM food.
