The word “feminism” means the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Gloria Steinem was born in Toledo, Ohio and was forced to grow up faster due to her parents divorce. She began work as a freelance journalist and from there worked her way up to earn her title as one of the world’s most famous feminist’s. Gloria Steinem is a revolutionary figure in American history because she has changed the course of women’s rights in the United States. Steinem has made a major impact on society today in many ways, one being through “Ms.” magazine, which was founded in 1972. Her magazine was the first to talk about domestic and women issues. Many people were interested in learning about the topics she wrote about in her magazine.

Steinem granted. Although supporting abortions is usually deemed immoral, Steinem is held in a high regard for her opinion on the subject. Some would agree that Steinem was the first advocate for “reproductive freedom”; especially because she conceived the name itself. “Nothing but nothing is more important than ensuring our fundamental right to reproductive freedom. Global warming is said to be caused by environmental factors and Steinem has yet one more to add to the list. “Forced childbirth is the single biggest cause of global warming.” (Steinem qtd by Ertelt). This is more evidence that shows women today to go off of what other people think and say. Women should be able to do things just as freely as men, and not receive the judgement society often gives.
