Many people perceive the world as globalized, others see the world as semi-globalized. Because democracy is allowed in some states and not other states conflict is continously a main problem. The history of Democracy started around 600BC. Classical Athens granted democratic citizenship to an upper-class of free men and excluded slaves and women from political participation. At the same token, Syria excludes citizens from political participation also. Authority and rights are ongoing issues in the Middle East, especially in Syria. Therefore, the world is seen as semi-globalized because of the dictatorship seen in Syria, other countries interactions with Syria, and advantages Syria has gained so far as far as weapons.
Globalization is the interconnectivity between customs and cultures. The first group of humans left central Africa 100,000 years ago, arriving in the Mediterranean. Europeans brought the Africans back to America, and the Africa’s brought their culture and customs with them. Ancient humans were the first globalizers that migrated before there were any borders or limitations. Those people were searching for a better life with better living conditions. This process of reconnection began thousands of years ago with simple acts like trading of goods, and sharing of experiences in hubs. One major event that led to this massive global expansion Silk Road. The overland Silk Road that connected Asia, Africa, and Europe is a good example of the transformative power of local exchange that existed years ago. Philosophy, religion, language, the arts, and other aspects of culture spread and intermixed as nations exchanged products and ideas. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Europeans made important discoveries in their exploration o...

The world is not as connected as people seem to think it is because some places do not have the advantage to get access to advanced technology. Also, some places have trouble with communication, and miscommunication can lead to all types of conflict. Disagreements between countries result from non-democratic states being at odd with democratic policies. Therefore, countries that do agree with one anothers’ policies or laws form alliances or strengthen their exsisting alliances. Countries try to negotiate with one another, but some countries get discouraged by the how long it takes to completely process the full agreement. Authorians become tense and prepare their military to engage in warfare. New technologies have allowed them to attack faster and harder.

During this era of global history from 632 to 1352 C.E, it is seen that the societies began to interact with other cultures leading to cultural diffusion which would have both positive impacts, such as new trade goods, on societies along with negative effects, such as being conquered, on these societies as well. The documents provided show these benefits and harmful factors of cultural diffusion during this global era. Documents one, two, four, and five show some of the negative effects of global interaction. Within this group document one, four and five shows how societies have a direct negative impact on each other. On the other hand document three and six show how global interaction can have a positive impact on societies.
One of the key factors that fueled violence in the Syrian War was due to foreign influence. In September 2015, airstrikes were inaugurated by both the United States and Russia. These airstrikes were targeted towards terrorists. However, the US and Russia had different views on groups. "Russia includes many US- supported rebels groups in their lists of 'terrorists'" (Document G) The US viewed the Kurdish group as an ally, while Russia viewed them as a terrorist group. Due to the opposing perspectives from both foreign countries on Syrian groups, the conflict of being unsure of who to strike arose. The US attacked who they believed were terrorists while Russia did the same, therefore creating violence all over. The Chart in Document D displays the relationships between foreign countries and Syrian groups. Russia
...g. The tying together each small item to the events of world history symbolizes how the overarching theme of globalization involves many different aspects. Samuel Champlain’s excursion which could’ve been seen as complete accident actually helped establish a very profitable fur trade between North America. Chinese porcelain and its high demand introduced the world to the wonders of China as well as the rest of the world to China. Tobacco became a popular commodity of trade and was exported globally. Along with discoveries of routes, goods, and beliefs, and other things, the movement of people was, and still is, the most vital part of globalization. Without it, history wouldn’t be the same.
Some americans say that nations hinge on each other, while others say they also compete with one another. This gives rise to rivalry, which sometimes leads to war. Some wars emerge from differentiation in race, religion and culture. Due to the evolution of technology in an accelerated pace, highly sophisticated weapons are now available for use in wars. Wars also bring about widespread destruction, disrupt communication and hamper commerce. Thus, they cause heavy financial loss and great suffering to people. The effects of wars often affect countries that are not involved in the conflict. The threat of war can pressure a nation to waste immense amounts of money on defense instead of spending on developmental works like creating roads, hospitals, schools, and much more. War can halt a countries development. Some countries try to achieve political desires by using terrorism as a weapon against other countries. Terrorism spreads fear in civilians through acts of violence like killings and hostages. This intimidation has transformed into worldwide threat.
Throughout the 20th Century, the world was engulfed in global conflicts, engaging in one war after the next. When looking at these different conflicts, interconnected themes and issues seemed to lead to the later conflicts. The first of the conflicts to affect the globe was the Great War. Since the Great War, numerous conflicts have followed including World War II, The Cold War, and eventually the War on Terror. These wars share similar goals and themes of gaining power and prestige, seeking revenge, and fighting ideologies. Each of these conflicts results in events that eventually lead to the next conflict, creating near constant warfare around the globe. The effects and fears created by these conflicts can still be seen today as we fight
It seems since that dawn of the era of man we have always been in competition with one another. We have fought countless wars over every issue imaginable, with many great civilizations being founded and destroyed by war. Though with each new conflict comes newer and better technology. Technology is what drives civilizations forward, but it can also lead to its downfall. It is fascinating see how much technology has evolved over history, and how we have incorporated these innovations into newer technology. In past century technology has seen its greatest leap forward. This is in large part due to the two major World Wars that plagued the early part of the 20th century. (Koch p.122)
...lecting convincing evidence that Syria has used Sarin gas in Ghouta, Syria. Currently, diplomacy has prevailed; the Security Council has shown rare unity on Syria by passing Resolution 2118 requiring Syria to destroy its current stockpile of chemical weapons and prohibits Syria from using, developing, stockpiling, or transferring any chemical weapons. Syria by not agreeing to these terms will face penalties under Chapter Seven of the United Nations Charter. Syrian government has yet to defy the resolution and the OPCW has declared they have successfully destroyed the sites used for production of the chemical weapons it remains to be seen whether the 2014 deadline for destroying Syria’s current stockpile of ammunition will be met in light of the ongoing destabilizing conditions. Despite this amount of progress fighting between the regime and rebels has continued on.

Unfortunately for the citizens of countries like Syria, the rules enforced in the international sector are set by western nations to the benefit of western nations. This is evidenced, for example, following the Washington consensus policies instituted by western nations for the developing world, “The Washington Consensus era is often considered the “lost decade” of development, with increases in acute poverty, urban migrations, environmental degradation, increased militarization” (Lecture, 10/11/16). The west may claim that it has the best interest in aiding the developing countries growth, but empirical evidence shows that western nations will support a leader that is hostile towards improvements within their borders. Humanitarian Imperialism details the shift of humanitarian assistance in favor of western interests, “The new humanitarianism involve[d] a shift in the centre of gravity of policy away from saving lives to supporting social processes and political outcomes” (Bush 313). Although the Syrian president had been abusing human rights, the democratic process, and economic opportunity, his business friendly policies kept him in good graces with the west (Leber). The push on behalf of western nations for an integrated global economy creates a vacuum of human rights, leaving developing nations wrought with domestic
Globalization is defined as “the historical process involving a fundamental shift or transformation in the spatial scale of human social organization that links distant communities and expands the reach of power relations across regions and continents (Baylis, 2014).”
Throughout history, the Silk Road complex increased the lines of trade, communication, interaction and exchange of ideas, the foundation of cultural writings. These routes have shaped the history of Eurasia, its languages, arts, sciences, traditions, and religions, leaving a lasting intellectual and artistic legacy (SILK ROAD Dialogue). “The Silk Road in our time has become a metaphor for cultural exchange among people of diverse societies, distant places, and different religions” (Silk Road and Beyond) and continues to be a source of international cross-fertilization, influencing literary fields through archeological travels, curiosities, and discoveries.
All living things need the resources provided by our natural world to live, leading to them adapting to specific environments. Animals in particular are mobile creatures that move from place to place searching for the best environments for their survival. The most intelligent creatures in our animal world are human beings and like other animals, they moved from place to place while organized into races in search of the elusive desirable environments. However, there is always the likelihood of finding fellow humanity already thriving in that environment. This resulted to conflict as competition for the inadequate resources arose. Consequently, human beings formed nations, allegiance to the national system meant loyalty to the governance, and regions and they formed military groups to defend their resources. However, the military warfare has changed with international understanding, though the idea still rests heavily on fight for resources. Further, international politics illustrates the causes and effects of modern military war have changed due to chan...
Globalization affects this world and the people of this world in many ways. It is the idea of making the entire world like a single country.
Globalization’s history is extremely diversified and began during the beginning of civilization. Now we live in a world that is constantly evolving, demanding people to use resources in locations that are very difficult to obtain certain resources. This could make it completely impossible to operate in these specific parts of the world. However, globalization allows people across the world to acquire much needed resources. Globalization creates the opportunity for businesses to take advantage and exploit the ability to take part of their business to a different country. Nevertheless, globalization is part of today’s society and will be involved in virtually all situations.
