Imagine living on the East Coast of the United States in the "Big Apple", and being able to see the Statue of Liberty from you penthouse window. Every morning you wake up and notice that the island it sits on is slowly shrinking in size. The next thing you know the water is at Lady Libery's feet, and eventually the streets you walk on begin to disapper. Imagine this happening all in a week's time, scary right? While Global Warming isn't going to happen over the coarse of a week, it is happening now. It's very real and it will affect the way the human race and other species live forever. Therefore the fate of so many lies in the hands of the current bodies to rise up and make a difference. One of the major effects of Global warming, which was so clearly stated in …show more content…
The polar ice caps will slowly wither away causing sea levels to climb, but where will the water go? I'm so glad you asked, slowly over a long period of it will creep its way onto our land stealing more and more from us until its to late. For this reason we need not to continue down the path that leads us to this dreadful future. Let's get serious, and talk about loss. What will we lose from this? With so many refusing to take the matter seriously let me step you into your childeren and there childeren's future. Global Warming won't take place of the course of seven days, but what about 50 to 100 years? With sea levels on the rise, the loss of coastal cities will be devastating. We will lose so much of there history and elegance. For those who live in those cities will get to watch their homes slowly sink into the deep blue water. The loss for the human race is significant, but what about the loss of many different species. The loss of an entire species is a big deal. It will cause a tremendous change in the food chain, and just the way all things are in general. All things considered I would hope you choose to make a change that others will see, and
Pollution is affecting many individuals and life, as we know it. We need to do something about how it’s affecting our world. That’s why I urge the issue that more people should realize that pollution is an issue that needs to be prevented because of its negative consequences. Which are health affects, the total destruction of environments, and the death of animals and plants. More awareness must be brought up amongst the people and they must realize the long-term benefits it has for the world.
Global warming has been going on for one to two centuries now. It has affected the earth a lot and not only that , it has also affected the air. Global warming has consequences as stated before , and it usually happens with solar and terrestrial radiation. Even though people believe that all of this is caused by humans. Scientists believe that global warming was going to be caused by sickness or in other words by diseases but it turns out that they were wrong. Not everyone believes that global weather is a bad thing but they just haven’t realized how bad it has affected us. As long as global warming is around the temperatures will keep on rising, animals will keep on decreasing, and the atmosphere will keep on trapping heat. That’s what global warming is all about. It’s all about warming up the atmosphere and affecting those around them.
People need to stop and think for a minute, away from the unfounded claims of inevitable catastrophe and think in a well-educated manner about the actual implications ahead. There is too much uncertainty in how emissions actually have affected, and will affect the climate. Upon moderate investigation, weather events that have been blamed turn out to not have any correlation. Science doesn’t know everything of the impacts of carbon dioxide, nor can they ever know. Global climate change is such a popular topic, but it actually seems to turn out to be a lot of misinformed hype and opinion. The public needs to set aside the hype about global warming and consider the facts and uncertainties surrounding it, rather than just swimming with the current.
Before a person can tackle handling the concept of global warming, they first must analyze the true definition of what it is. Climate change periodic modification of Earth’s climate brought about as a result of changes in the atmosphere as well as interactions between the atmosphere and various other geologic, chemical, biological, and geographic factors within the Earth 's system. (britannica) Since all 196 countries in the world have to share the oxygen and carbon dioxide, we all should take a part in the responsibility of taking care of earth. On November 6, 2012 President Obama said that we want our children to live in a world without the destructive power of a warming planet. The biggest challenge we face is not only saving a warming
The Earth's climate has changed significantly throughout history. In the last 700,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat. With the abrupt end of the last ice age approximately 7,000 years ago the beginning of the modern climate era was born. In the last century the global sea level has risen 17cm. All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880. Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years, having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years. There is no denying global warming. Once considered a conspiracy theory by the world’s leading governments, industries and populations; global warming
In conclusion, inundation events are dangerous hazards to coastal communities.1 These events are further exacerbated by sea level rise.1 Sea level rise is largely due to the warming climate, which causes thermal expansion of oceans, melting of ice caps and glaciers, and ice loss from major ice sheets.6, 11, 15 Current research suggests that sea levels may rise by more than one meter by 2100.9 The consequences of increased future sea levels could be catastrophic for populations and infrastructures14 situated on North American coasts, such Florida, New York20 and Vancouver.21 In order to cope, we can attempt to mitigate climate change through long-term strategies, or we can attempt to adapt through immediate measures. 30, 31
Global climate change and its apparent effects have been the subject of much discussion for a number of years. It is often claimed that this change is too advanced and the damage caused by it is irreversible, meaning that any efforts by us to undo this are in vain. Although I agree that our planet has become unalterably changed, I don’t entirely concur that this change is now completely beyond repair.
Along with being aware about air pollution, we should also be aware about ozone concentrations and fossil fuel burning. The public should be concerned with ozone concentrations because they are constantly increasing. Ozone levels are increasing because of the heat and pollution. The public should be informed on how to reduce pollution and heat. Some steps the public can take to reduce pollution are to use public transportation and electric vehicles, conserve energy and recycle. Moreover, planting more plants will reduce heat and decrease ozone levels. Ozone is considered “bad” when found in the lower troposphere because it leads to many health effects in humans. Breathing ozone can cause bronchitis, emphysema, and asthma. Therefore, humans should stay indoors in the afternoon during the summer months. “Bad” Ozone also damages our crops and forests, affecting our food chain and the economy. Ozone is considered “good” in the Stratosphere because it protects us from dangerous ultraviolet rays released by the sun. Ozone in the Stratospheres protects us from conditions such as skin cancer and cataracts. Furthermore, ozone in the atmosphere protects our crops, thus playing
Our world is slowly melting. With all our experiments and launches in to the sky, we are destroying much more than the habitats of animals. More water means bigger waves, more water means higher water level. What about those cities that were built below sea level? The question I ask you is not what is happening to them but what will happen to them? Venice, Italy for example is a city built on water. Venice has no streets, only canals. If water level rises, Venice will flood. Rising sea level isn’t just affecting animals. It will soon enough affect cities and the
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
The problem is that, once global warming is something that most people can feel in
Background and Audience Relevance: There are always conversations about our planet. We see our earths glaciers melting, weather temperature rising, and pollution affecting our resources. But for some reasons we tend to look away. We should be more aware of this potential event and I’m here to inform everyone about what actually is global warming and the effects of it.
Hurricanes, Tsunamis, retreating glaciers, volcanoes and cyclones. What I'm about to tell you is real and will change your life forever-so wake up and smell the roses which are now blooming in winter.
Global warming has become on of the most controversial issues in the media today. While most of the Western world countries have generally accepted the premise that man's chemical emissions in the atmosphere can and are affected by the world’s climate patterns, in the United States, the issue has become so politicized with many republicans challenging the science behind the theory. Global warming is a greenhouse effect whereby gases are trapped on the earth’s surface causing it to heat up (Maslin 14). It is based on the worldwide temperature records that have been maintained by human beings through their activities since the 1880,s. In addition, global warming is not only caused by human activities only but also through climate changes in solar radiance. The problem is that, humans continue to contribute to the global warming phenomenon. All citizens should work in reducing human activities that cause global warming and also support the development of nuclear power. Scientists deem that, global warming is mainly caused by human activities which accelerate the natural process by creating greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Human activities have become a great contribution to the greenhouse effect and this means that climate changes are inevitable. They further argue that, if these activities continue and are not reduced, it will lead to more trapping of energy radiated from the earth and this will likely lead to extreme weather and global warming. Global warming should be at reduced levels or else, it will be catastrophic.
One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”). Everyone should be knowledgeable about global warming and the dangers that it brings to our planet. This essay will examine
