A hero is someone who does what is right even when they know nobody is watching them. They are always prepared for any situation and they don’t let anything get in their way of accomplishing something. Giorgio Perlasca was one of the people who saved a lot of the Jews, over 3,000. Giorgio Perlasca was born on January 31st, 1910 and died in August 1992 because of a heart attack. Giorgio Perlasca exhibits the characteristics of a hero because he did everything he could to help the Jews without being selfish about it.
Giorgio Perlasca always did what was right even if he had to lie to do it. Lying isn’t necessarily the best thing he could have done in all the situations he was in but, that is what he did to help. He was one of many people who

risked their lives to help the Jews. He was one of the people who spoke the truth about himself but, lied to help keep others safe. For example, he claimed that, “[he] was neither a fascist nor an anti-fascist, but [he] was anti-Nazi.” (Perlasca) This is the truth about how he felt during his lifetime. But, the fascist was kind of a lie because that is what he wanted for his country. So, he did both lie and told the truth in this quote. He was prepared for any situation in case the Nazis found out about a plan that he had.
He was prepared to make a new plan sometimes in a split second. Once he grabbed two boys off of a freight train that was heading to a prison camp. He was prepared for that situation because he just grabbed the boys off of the train without thinking just to save their lives. He ended up saving those two boys’ lives that day. He just did that out of the blue to save just those two lives but, those two lives were going to be lost if he didn’t do something about it. He always thought about things on his feet for example he says, “At first, I didn’t know what to do, but then I began to feel like fish in water. I continued giving out protective passes and looked after the Jews in the ‘safe houses’ flying the Spanish flag.” (Perlasca) This quote shows that he thought on his feet because he was trying to figure out what to do and then he got the hang of it and just started doing more and more for the Jews. He was giving out protective passes by appointing himself d’affaires and obtaining them that way. So that he could save a lot of the Jews in that time by doing that.
Finally, he does whatever he needs to do and he doesn’t let anything stop him from doing what he needs to do. He could have gotten caught and given a warning from the Nazis and he still wouldn’t let that stop him from still saving the Jews. Even if there is a small obstacle Giorgio Perlasca would try to get around that obstacle. But, some people wouldn’t consider him a hero because he couldn’t get around those obstacles. He also made some bad mistakes that may have also caused him to be called a normal
person. Overall, I do feel like Giorgio Perlasca was a hero. Although some people might not believe he was a hero, even himself I think he was. He even said so himself that he wouldn’t classify himself as a hero but, others would consider him this or those reasons. He was prepared for anything, he overcomes obstacles, and he always tried to do the right thing. Those are some of the many reasons that other people and I believe Giorgio Perlasca was a hero. These two stories are so different from each other they just have two things for each section that are the same. Heroes Every Child Should Know is a more interesting story of how to kill Medusa. Perseus the poem isn't that good because it just has a part of what how to kill Medusa it is just that he had a shield and just chopped her head off. So the rest of the paragraphs are just to say the similarities and differences. Perseus is different by many things the characters, settings, event, and the theme.

Who is your hero? Many of us can clearly picture our idea of our personal hero in our head, but is the person you consider to be a hero really a hero by definition? In Heroism: Why Heroes are Important, Scott LaBarge, a Classics and Philosophy Professor at Santa Clara University, awakens your thoughts on the word heroism and how it has changed since its origins in ancient Greece. Throughout his essay, he goes in depth into the term ‘hero’ and compares it to society’s take on heroes today. Although LaBarge uses examples to back up his stance that “Today, it is much harder to detach the concept of heroism from morality (LaBarge. 1),” his essay contains flaws and he contradicts his own words.
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
In this essay I have only shown three, but there are so many more and the traits of a hero are not only restricted to people who save lives, chase bad guys, or change the world. He overcame constant pressures with his determination, led a whole team with his outstanding leadership, and never gave up thanks to his passion. He is a hero to many, no cape, or superpowers needed. So now it’s up to you, is he, or is he not, a
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example

A hero is a man of courage and ability who is admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. A hero is a person who does not come along very often in any time period. He is a special person, who is a step above the average person in the way that he handles any situation that may arise.
A hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievement, or noble qualities. John Jay was a hero because he was one the nation’s Founding Fathers. He helped bring independence to the colonies along with creating a constitution
The man who was once all about making money to satiate his own desire in becoming the richest man in the world found a new, greater motivation that helped him become a better person, that even Schindler himself became more self-motivated in becoming. You can see the phases of change Schindler went through and each time, he was always so determined and driven by something.
Michele is a hero in many ways. He exhibits all the characteristics and actions of someone who would certainly be considered a hero. He is compassionate for those who are weaker and more vulnerable, and helps them in spite of his fears for his own safety. His actions in the case of Filippo set his apart from others, as a hero. Michele defies his parent's wishes and, with the knowledge he would be in trouble, he returns to Filippo to honor his promise. However, it is his actions in the end of the text that define him as a hero. When saving Filippo from the hole, and taking his place he is risking his life and is He is a hero to Maria, who he protects from all the problems and conflicts in the Amitrano family.
“I do believe and hero is a person that can be knocked down. A failure isn’t a person who gets knocked down; a failure is a person who stays down, and to me, the great heroes take the beating, get knocked down and stand back up again. Perseus is defined as one of the great heroes in literature, so you gotta take that on board.” Said Sam Worthington talking about the hero Perseus. Perseus was the best greek hero. He slayed Medusa, he saved Andromeda from a sea monster, and his own grandfather put him and Danae, his mom, in a chest and threw him into the sea when he was a baby!
