The fondest memories of my youth include hitting people with sticks and throwing people out of trees. I was probably only about 8 years old when I started masquerading in the woods as a Robin Hood type character. Along with me I had about 7 other outlaws. Daily we would go into the woods and change teammates on our different Klan’s. Someday's we even had up to 12 kids parading through the woods on missions to free friends and seek vengeance for unjust acts that had been committed in our territory. Literally jumping 30 feet in the air from one tree to the next was no large task, it was done almost automatically when a foe approached and was gaining fast on you. Especially when you carry a wound from a battle, the adrenaline will make you do crazed things. Without hesitation or second thought we commonly committed feats which would have caused our parents to banish us from the woods. Trees were used to cut down and turn into weapons. There were throwing sticks, swords, staffs, and an entire array of undecipherable weapons that were used. Going into battle included tying sticks to your shins so sword blows wouldn't hurt and using sap to thicken the skin on your hands so when the sword went uncontrollably smashing into your hands it wouldn't hurt as bad. I proudly wore the title of king of the mountain.
When there was no snow we climbed a steep hill that went straight down about 12 feet into a grass field. Uppercuts and hooks were not uncommon ways of getting a nemesis off of the mountain. I even had a special attack where I would squat, jump, slap the victim in the face, land, and sweep there legs out as I hit them in the knees and stepped on their feet. This would inevitably cause them to crash into the ground. It was almost every time someone was hit off the cliff that we had the wind knocked out of us. If a blow were too forceful then other people would hit you with sticks. At the end of the day we outlaws would be covered with dirt and blood with several abrasions. I loved those woods and think fondly of them whenever I reminisce upon my early childhood.

It may seem like Ghost on the Throne by James Romm is just another one of the thousands of books written about the life about Alexander the Great. The fact is it was nearly the exact opposite. Of course, Alexander the Great plays an enormous role in the book, but Ghost on the Throne told the story of the legacy Alexander the Great left behind after his death. In fact, the word “Ghost” in the title of the book refers to Alexander the Great. Throughout the book, Romm told many stories about those who ruled after Alexander the Great and the influence Alexander had on the way those people ruled. This is why the book was given the title “Ghost on the Throne.” James Romm proves the impact Alexander’s legacy had on those once under his command even after he was no longer alive. Ghost on the Throne was a very interesting read and did an excellent job explaining Alexander the Great’s legacy.
The image created for the outlaw hero is the “natural man.” They are adventurous but also wanderers, and loners. Outlaw heroes are more likely to commit a crime, use weapons and carry guns. The outlaw hero represents self-determination and freedom from conflicts. On the other hand, the official hero is portrayed to be “the civilized” man. He often follows the norms of society, and has typical roles such as a lawyer, teacher, and family man.
In the middle and late part of the nineteenth century, the West was a harsh and dangerous place to live. Bar fights and murders were being committed in every town. This was acceptable behavior however in those days. Men settled their problems face-to-face, and normally, the slower man ended up dead. Gunfighting in the West was started and carried on by a group of men known as the Clanton Gang. Old Man Clanton was the leader and founder of gunfighting, his sons carried some of his fights and continued with their own fights, and his last surviving son parted with gunfighting and started his own successful business.
While the western frontier was still new and untamed, the western hero often took on the role of a vigilante. The vigilante’s role in the frontier was that of extralegal verve which was used to restrain criminal threats to the civil peace and opulence of a local community. Vigilantism was typical to the settler-state societies of the western frontier where the structures and powers of government were at first very feeble and weak. The typical cowboy hero had a willingness to use this extralegal verve. I cannot say I completely believe in just one of these Psychologist, but rather agree with many of their ideas. In particular I agree with Piaget and Vygotsky more than others. I think a child’s learning is about more than just social development, but also developmental age. Jean Piaget research is truly fascinating and a foundation in child learning for many. At first I thought his theory was a little odd, but after hearing more about it and applying his theory myself and to people I know, I knew Piaget was right. I believe that a child’s cognitive development is a process but that not all steps are completed prior to adulthood. I myself have seen adults and even myself be in a place of being stuck because I had not yet fully developed a stage of cognitive development. I believe this happens more so than we realize and that many people do not associate the feeling of being stuck with skipping or missing a step of cognitive development. Piaget theory said that a person will complete all of the steps of development by the end of their life, they may just skip or be stuck in one before completing development. I also believe in Vygotsky theory of cognitive development associated with social development. There are things that stick out about Vygotsky to me that have made me feel his research and study are accurate. When you look at the lives of children they act, talk, and interact just like the people around them. Children copy adults as Vygotsky referred to as the more knowledgeable other, as they see them with greater knowledge than themselves. When you study other cultures and how children are raised you see a pattern of how children grow up to be like their example, the more knowledge other. One exciting thing about being a teacher is how you get to decide what you want to bring into your classroom. You also have many roles as a teacher, and I am looking forward to having all of these roles. Piaget and Vygotsky are both very famous psychologist who studied cognitive development. They have different views and opinions on what educators should do. There are certain roles I believe teachers should play, and I plan to compare Piaget and Vygotsky’s theories to come up with five roles I believe are important.
Lourenco’s (2012) article makes the point several times that the biggest difference is that Piaget adheres to an autonomous view while Vygotsky adheres to a heteronomous view. Piaget sees the child as constructing his/her own knowledge and that this is an internal process. Vygotsky, on the other hand, sees the child as developing through social interactions and that this is an external process.

The differences these theorists have are how they view a child development just as the active role. For Piaget, the child is view as the constructor of knowledge where as for Vygotsky; the child is views as the co-constructor of knowledge. A child’s learning is subordinate to their development in Piaget’s opinion. In other words child are born with knowledge and learn on their own through what they experience by themselves. A child’s learning proceeds development in Vygotsky’s opinion. In other words, children learn from others as well with the help of a wiser and experienced individual. The similarities both these theorists have is that social interactions played an exceptional role in a child cognitive development. Piaget encouraged interactions and the most beneficial where the ones where the child interacted with peers their own age because children feel a basic equality. Vygotsky felt that social interactions leads development. Through interactions between children and adults cooperate in helping build meaningful constructions which learning therefore becomes a reciprocal experience where the children becomes the wise
A determination is a driving force that helps people through rough times in their lives. Without determination, people would no longer strive for their goals. Throughout the short story, ‘Then Later, His Ghost,’ Sarah Hall shows how strength and determination can get you through these tough times. This theme is made clear through the severe setting the characters are faced with and her use of symbolism.

Cold and fresh snow is the type of morning that is be for hunters in Central Nebraska. It’s cold, quiet, and the clean freshness is in the air while the moon is still high in the night sky. Fresh coffee is brewed for the day while breakfast is packed for the blind at the river. This is a typical morning for a hunter anywhere around Nebraska and is usually quite an exciting time. Hunting around the world is always different, whether it’s the weapons used, the style of how an animal is hunted, or the cultural or social background a hunter might have. These weapons can range from firearms like most of the United States uses, to blowguns and spears. The styles also differ from sitting in a blind or walking through fields to running down an animal for more than five hours and over twenty miles. It all depends on their upbringing, availability of weapons and resources, and type of animals hunted.
