As violence becomes more and more common place in today society people are searching for something to blame. Experts tend to use violent video games a scapegoat. They believe that kids that play video games where violence is glorified are more likely to be violent in real life. Author Gerard Jones disagree with this ideas and make a good argument against it in his article "Violent media is Good for Kids." I believe this article is best because it has the most important point and uses his life experience to tell it. In his thesis said that comics book which some think are immature and gloried violence actually teach pacifism and tolerance. The first example he gives was when he was little in school at first he had trouble fitting in and had trouble fitting in. In comic book he found a fantasy world where he started to control his rage. This help him find a group of like minded friend where he could feel like he belong. Another example he used comes later in his life when he now has his own kids. One day he hears that unlike his kids friend he is scare of climbing trees. Trying to help him overcome his fears he share the story of Tarzan with him. This story teaches kids about overcoming their fears and being brave, and this fantasy story help his son over come his own fear. I think this is a great argument because it is easy to relate to because he pulls on experience from his own life. Dealing with problem that every human has to go thought. When it comes to refuting the opposition he does a great job of that too. He said that greed, power-hunger and rage are emotions that every human has to have. So it is better that kids at a young age start to learn to deal with these feeling. He goes on to cite some an experts who support his belief.
