There have been many great presidents and each president carries on the work of the past presidents. George Washington, being the first president of the United states, started it all. There are presidents that have made huge difference in slavery, rights, laws and plenty of other significant changes but none of this would have happened without George Washington. Washington lead by example and defined what the rule of a true leader and president is.
George Washington showed amazing leadership skills while remaining aware that he is not greater then everyone else. When Washington was first brought the idea of presidency he declined not wanting to be viewed as a king or anything greater then the people around him. He didn't want to and didn't become president for power or anything other then to be a leader and guide the country through the good and bad. Washington was the respectable general of an army and was a strong leader through many important historical battles that changed the course of history.

Washington played a part in many great battles including the Revolutionary War, French and Indian War, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
He also had a key part during the Braddock Disaster and The Virginia Regiment. Each of these were important parts of history with great effects. The effects of these battles and conflicts couldn't have been made without George Washington. The best presidents that the United states has ever seen have to have been Abe Lincoln or George Washington. They were both loyal and cared about their country. George Washington founded the base for our beautiful country that we live in to this day. Abe Lincoln put a stop to slavery during his presidency before he was shot in the back of the head and murdered in the Ford Theater. They both put a lot of time and effort into building our country up. George Washington was an Army general and fought in many hard battles in the cold and across rivers and lakes. George Washington was selected Commander in Chief of the Continental Army because of his courage and bravery, his ability to motivate and command respect from his followers, and his strategic ability in battle. His reputation as a daring and successful leader inspired confidence and loyalty in his followers. If it weren't for George Washington, it would be a different America today.

He was an extremely patriotic man, and many people saw that in him. He possessed such patriotism and common sense, it won him the election to be the first president. His actions were performed for his country, not for political gain. He was also directly associated with every major event of the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress, and the building of the new republic. Even the country 's new capitol had his name. These were some of the things that made him so special. Washington was not prideful and not easily led. He offered suggestions and warnings to his replacements and told the government to expand in a way that would keep the country standing; he was well aware of how dainty the country was. The United States would never have survived without him.

The "founding father" has influenced many people today. He also led his troops through the winter at Valley Forge. The fact that it was a brutal winter, they had a lack of supplies, and diseases were spreading throughout the troops, was impressing because Washington motivated and encouraged them to keep going and to fight through the pain. Lastly, he was an ally to the French who provided everything they needed and even managed to combine the troops to achieve many important things.
