I personally thought animal farm was a really good book. It was a simple, easy to read story. The analysis of this book is pretty easy to figure out. Animal farm represents Communism in Russia and it is just being retold in his book by farm animals. Every part of Joseph Sterling's rise to power is in this book. The Russian Revolution represents the animals overthrowing Mr. Jones. Old Major (a boar) gathers the animals of the manor farm together for a meeting in the barn. He tells all of them of the dream he had. That all animals lived together in a community with no humans to take control of them. He tells them that they must work towards this paradise and teaches them a song called "Beasts of England" in which his dram was described. When he dies, (3 days later), the two younger pigs, Snowball and Napoleon, make his principles into a philosophy called animalism. One night the animals manage to defeat Mr. Jones (the farm owner) in a battle and ran him off the farm. They rename it Animal Farm and dedicate it themselves to achieving old Majors dream. In particular the great cart horse Boxer devotes himself to the cause, taking "I will work harder" as his maxim and committing his great strength to the prosperity of the farm. At first everything goes well, and there is food for all; Snowball works at teaching the animals to read, and Napoleon takes a group of young puppies to educate them in the principles of Animalism. The animals defeat Mr. Jones's forces again, in what comes to be known as the Battle of the Cowshed, and erect a monument to the event. As time passes, however, Napoleon and Snowball are increasingly at odds, and struggle for power and influence among the other animals. Snowball concocts a scheme to build... ... middle of paper ... ...dmill not long after the battle the outlook is grim. Napoleon sells his most loyal worker to a glue-maker for whisky money, while claiming to have sent him to a human hospital, where, according to Squealer, he died in peace. Years pass on Animal Farm, and the pigs become more and more like human beings-walking upright, carrying whips, and wearing clothes. Eventually the seven principles of Animalism, known as the Seven Commandments and inscribed on the side of the barn, are replaced with a single principle reading "ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL* BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THEN OTHERS" Napoleon entertains Mr. Pilkington., a human farmer, at a dinner, and declares his intent to change the name of Animal Farm back to The Manor Farm. Looking in at the party through the farmhouse window, the common animals are unable to tell who are the pigs and who are the human beings.

“Squealer explained privately to the other animals that Napoleon had never in reality been opposed to the windmill…the plan which Snowball had drawn on the floor…had actually been stolen from among Napoleon’s papers.”That, he said, was Comrade Napoleon’s cunning. He had SEEMED to oppose the windmill, simply as a manoeuvre to get rid of Snowball, who was a d...
In conclusion all the ninth grade English teachers in Public Schools should give the students the opportunity to read this book. This book has helped young students understand what the Russian Revolution had to bring about. Animal Farm had a fantastic way of getting the students to use their brain and read between the lines to understand the unrevealed truth that was written in the text. It also used propaganda that which is usually used everyday and everywhere in the world somehow and help students understand the novel much better.
and the dogs chased snowballs off the farm, which confirmed the untrustworthiness of Napoleon. And subsequently the inequality began. to increase at a more severe rate. The animals gradually become like slaves doing Napoleon’s plans. doing whatever he likes, moreover they are forced to work on Sundays.
Snowball and Napoleon held a great deal of contrast between the way they each ruled over “Animal Farm/Manor Farm.” The only thing he did lack, was the ability of pursuasion to the other animals. Snowball had all the right ideas, all to better the whole farm. Napoleon, on the other hand, had a knack for stealing other animals’ ideas, then telling the rest it was his and getting credit for it. His ideas only seemed to benefit the pigs and not the animals. It was this, that led to the crumbling of the farm. Napoleons obsession with becoming the ruler is what got Snowball nearly killed by the dogs...in a plot made by Napoleon. Which then produced a whole new rebellion not of the animals to the humans, but of the animals to the pigs. So for these reasons, Snowball showed better qualities for leadership than Napoleon because he wasn’t selfish and thought about the future of “Animal Farm.” First, the dominated farm animals viewed Napoleon and Snowball differently at different times throughout the book. The way the animals reacted to each leader brought upon new problems of the farm. The animals respected Snowball, and believed that his teachings were all true and had a good cause. Although Snowball and Napoleon had superior qualities leadership, it was clearly Snowball who had the better qualities for running a farm. Under Snowballs’ rule, the animals were generally content with what was going on and were all for it if it was to better the farm. It was obvious that Napoleon had the better half of getting his own way on the farm. However, the animals had some problems with Napoleon but they didn’t know haw to express their feelings and show him that they didn’t like the way he ran things. It was the animals’ ignorance that helped keep Napoleon in rule for as long as it was. The responses were so different between the animals that it must have been a drastic change between Snowball and Napoleon.
Old Major, a eminent pig on the Jones farm, is regarded as the wise superior by the other animals. He has had a strange dream and calls the other animals together to talk about their disastrous situation. Old major declares: ';Let us face it, our lives are miserable, laborious and short';. He declares in Marxist terms that Man is the problem: ';Only get rid of the Man, and the produce of our labour would be our own. Almost overnight we could be rich and free. What then must we do? Why, work night and day, body and soul, for the overthrow of the human race! That is my message to you, comrades. Rebellion!';
The rising action was that Napoleon took the puppies and trained them. The climax is when Napoleon killed the other animals on the farm from what he feels is betrayal. Falling action was when he replaced the beast of England with a poem comrade. The resolution was really not one, but what can be one is when Napoleon sent boxer’s to the slaughter house to be killed. Conclusion is when the animals were being fooled by the same leadership they started with. Nothing had change it was just a different leader with different rules. The pigs begin taking control of the planning and government of the farm; Snowball and napoleon engage in a dispute in compete for power. Napoleon than runs Snowballs off the farm with his trained pack of dogs and declared that the power to make decisions for the will be controlled solely by the pigs. The animals decided to rename the farm so that their farm will be seen as under control of the animals. They rename it "Manor Farm." With Napoleon at the helm of Animal Farm, things would dramatically change .The two dogs of the farm, Jesse and Bluebell, and their offspring are recruited to form Napoleon 's secret police for the farm. Eventually, Napoleon has a brigade of nine dogs who follow him everywhere for his protection. Napoleon continues to consolidate as supreme leader: the common animals continue to obey the pigs, hoping for a better
By first using propaganda to persuade the animals that Snowball was an enemy, Napoleon’s rise to power began. Snowball was Napoleon’s only real threat to assuming leadership. In the story, the two pigs always disagreed with each other. The other animals were divided equally in supporting either Snowball or Napoleon. By spreading the rumor that Snowball was a traitor, Napoleon was able to drive Snowball from the farm and become the leader of Animal Farm with no one to oppose him. Napoleon, with the help of Squealer, turned all the animals against Snowball. Squealer, who was a masterful manipulator, played an important part in convincing the animals that Snowball was an enemy. Naming Snowball as a “traitor”, Squealer played on the animals’ fear of humans and told them that Snowball had been a spy for the humans. The animals believed Squealer and thought that Snowball was only trouble on the farm. They later suspected that S...
Napoleon stops making appearances to the other animals and makes a deal with Mr. Whymper to sell 400 eggs a week. Napoleon also gets some animals to confess of wrong doings and then “makes examples of them,” by killing them.
Animal Farm is an allegory of the period in Russian history between 1917 and 1944. It is a satirical story written in the form of an animal fable. In writing Animal Farm as a fable, George Orwell is able to present his subject in simple symbolic terms by treating the development of communism as a story that is taking place on a single farm with talking animals. The characters of Animal Farm represent figures in Russian history during the Russian Revolution. Places, objects, and events of the Russian Revolution are also symbolized in Animal Farm.
Because the animals decide that they want to run the farm by themselves, they make up a way of living called Animalism. The basic principles of Animalism are two, all animals are to be treated as equals, and no animals shall acquire any human traits or

“Hey, Snowball.” The raspy voice of the pig rattled like a maraca. The pig had horrifying scars on his face. He looked wartorn, with his hairs rough and like needles. ”Spots ‘ere was telling’ me ‘bout how Napoleon has beens’ plotting’’ against ya.”
After a while, the animals ended up rebelling, and managed to kick out Mr. Jones. During the beginning of “Animal Farm’s” reign under Snowball and Napoleon’s (main characters) lead, it brought the animals on Manor Farm together into a peaceful world. However, after this initial stance of power, Snowball and Napoleon began to fight for it. In the end, Napoleon ends up with control of the farm and Snowball is never seen again. Power is a corrupting influence in Animal Farm and both Snowball and Napoleon’s way of leading are very different.
