George Halas George Halas born on February 2, 1895 to October 31, 1983. By the age of 49 he was a legendary football coach. Halas’ parents stressed education. Halas says that it was because his parents wanted George to have the education that they didn't have. He eventually did when he went to illinois and got a degree in civil engineering where he also played football for Coach Bob Zuppke. George Halas, also known as “papa bear” the founder and coach of the Chicago Bears. He was a good coach, he ran a tight crew. J.R. He effectively delivered his argument by giving an appropriate amount of evidence without crowding the piece and losing the reader. There were certain sections of the essay that would have been difficult to understand without context, however Epstein was able to guide the reader and explain the evidence and situation when necessary. The title of the essay drew me in because “child's play” coincides with something that can be easily accomplished and is enjoyable. However sports, at the higher level, are challenging and are required to be taken seriously. If children are playing at competitive level too early in their life, it can cause a loss of enjoyment and be detrimental to their physical and mental health.

Basketball was first heard of in the winter of 1891 when a man by the name of James Naismith was told to instruct a physical education class at the Young Men’s Christian Association in Springfield, Massachusetts. While trying to come up with a brilliant and fun game for these young men, Naismith reminisced back on his childhood in Canada. Naismith’s idea pertained to nailing up raised boxes so that players could attempt to throw a ball in the basket. When there were no boxes too be found, he used peach baskets. Supposedly, Naismith came up with all the rules for this game in no more than “about an hour”, according to Alexander Wolff.
