The use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) will affect our environment and community in both positive and negative ways, because the good part of GMO is that it helps us grow our food and keeps away pest from eating it while it grows, also get rid of weeds. But the negative part is that the weeds get immune to the chemicals which the farmers will have to use more round-up to get rid of the weeds, and many more.
Some risk from GMO, are environmental hazards, uncontrolled biological pollution, and health risk, etc. GMO is affecting some of the insects like the monarch butterflies and bees, from monarchs suffering to bees vanishing, and some of them occur to GMO use. Experts believed that the dramatic decreasing populations of bees both in the United States and abroad are directly related to genetically modified plants and their pollen too.
Genetically Modified organisms are organisms that had its DNA altered in some way through genetic engineering. In a reading “Hawaii is at the Forefront of Genetically Modified Crops”, by H. Sterling Burnett, who is a senior fellow from the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) that he wrote about genetically modifying papaya, to resistance to the papaya ring spot virus.
The negative impact about genetically modified foods is that about seventy percent of the food package in a grocery store is mostly genetically modified foods. In conclusion, I think from everything I researched about I believe my message would be for this is that no matter how bad GMO is it still helps us with our food, but we need to find a different way to grow foods without GMO before it starts killing every thing and we will have nothing and soon we will parish. Another thing is that I want to try not to eat GMO crops and try to grow my own foods. Lastly, I learned that genetically modified organisms does affect our environment and is killing them.

However the most critical counterarguments stem from the visible negative effects of GMOs. A study published in Nature magazine concluded that the transgenic modification which resulted in corn stock being resistant to pests such as corn borers, additionally caused the pollen to harm monarch butterflies.

These organisms are made from the DNA of bacteria and the DNA of other plants and animals. Thus genetically diverse, these various combinations cannot naturally happen in nature. On one side genetically modified food is more sustainable, safe, cheaper, easier to grow and has the potential of creating disease-fighting foods. Although this is positive and good intentioned, there may be unintended consequences that we have been quick to overlook. Those opposing genetically modified food clam that it is dangerous, harms the environment, increases health risks, and causes infertility and weight gain. Even things like the declining bee population may have closer ties to modified food than previously thought. We must look to science for answers. By studying genetically modified organisms (GMOs) we can guide our decision about whether we want to be consuming them.
There are two sides to every coin, and the topic of GMO foods is a prime example of this. An assessment of GMOs analyzes and weighs the risks and benefits on health. If we also make more of our food on farms, we can get more people to get jobs. GM critics also worry that transgenic crops could harm wildlife and cause lasting damage to fragile food chains. GM crops harm wildlife and wildlife. Since some birds and small mammals feed on these crops, they will soon disappear. They will disappear because they are making the crops pest resistant.

Consumers in America have been eating GMOs since 1996, when they went on the market. There are benefits to genetically modifying crop plants, as it improves the crop quality and increases yield, affecting the economy and developing countries. But there are also negative effects from GMOs. Consumption of GMOs has various health effects on both body systems of animals and humans. GMOs also affect the environment, ecosystems and other animal species. The cons outweigh the pros in the case of GMOs.
In conclusion, the application of genetically modified food has a lot of pros and cons. There is so much disagreement about the benefits and risks of GM because there are so many different views surrounding it. This issue is very important today because it will change our future. How would the world be when every single living creature will be in some aspect genetically modified? Would we be more resistant to illness? Or would we be weaker and more vulnerable to diseases? Would this be the beginning of the mutant era? Regardless of the answers to these questions, we will need to consider the implications of genetically modified foods.
