I find the question to be a very interesting concept or proposal because general psychology can be used or discussed as role in business, criminal justice, sociology, mathematics, political science, education, physical therapy, and many other type majors. For the simple fact, the field of general psychology covers an overview of the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes, which it probably establishes a role of the college student in their cognitive development in collectively pulling together integrate parts of their majors, and it would probably include everything that a student’s needs in one’s their field of work. There are numerous more positives or pros in support of general psychology being utilized as a prerequisite for all college majors. Regrettably, there are some that believe why it would be included as a requirement when the field generates low paying jobs and not many paying employment opportunities. This push forward the argument that suggests it is weak field and it is probably not a useful course for students. They also put forward that most students probably view general psychology as an easy and non-interesting class. These opponents would ask the question: why would a field that is not an economic engine for graduating college students, view as easy class and considered not useful be a part of college overall curriculum or plan in order to graduate from college? Their arguments do not capture that it helps with the foundation or understanding of critical thinking, which it could be applied throughout other majors. The ability to critically think is a valued commodity in the workforce, and it helps promote the linkage of students to process the originally of the information or data. A class in general psychology course assist with building skills that would help construct thinking in all types of careers; such as: business, law enforcement, education, and other professions. Additionally, since courses in psychology are considered to have an emphasis on research and scientific methods, it would help with students with their careers with the understanding and interrupting of research projects and results at their prospective professions or workplaces. I never noticed how much psychology could be incorporated into everyday life. But really, any decision or action you take is related to it. I have personally been extremely interested in social psychology: why people do things because of social norms, what people do in order to look socially acceptable, etc. Others topics I also find interesting are sensation and perception; how past experiences can influence how you perceive the things around you, states of consciousness; how things that have happened in your day can be transferred into a mash of events in your dreams, motivation and emotion; what makes a person do something or what makes a person start or stop procrastination, and lastly: personality; what characteristics and traits stand out the most in a person, what makes a person who they are.
