General Mills Case Analysis Essay

General Mills has been lucky to have you as an employee for the past twenty years. In the twenty years that you have been at this company, you had earned the title of Vice President of Sales: a huge honor.

As you are well aware of, the past year has not been a good economic year for General Mills. The overall economy has forced many key employees to seek employment elsewhere. General Mills’ current employee benefit costs have risen by 20%. Overall revenue is down 15%. Your department has declined to a 15 year low.

After much consideration, I have determined the best thing for the company is to terminate your employment at General Mills. As you are aware the following takes place after your termination:

• You must find private insurance. If

you are unable to find private insurance, you can sign up for the ACA through the United States government.
• You will be terminated from the General Mills building immediately upon this notification.
• You will turn in the keys to the General Mills building immediately.
• You will have five (5) business days to turn in the company car.
General Mills wants the most peaceful transition for you and is prepared to give you:
• Twenty weeks paid salary
• An outsourced office
• An administrative assistant to help you with a job search for the next ninety (90) days
