Earth has 3 worlds to equal one. Throughout history, humans have developed societies, states, cities, civilizations etc. However, we are not all equal. In the world, we are divided into two groups of countries; ones that are industrialized, have political and economical stability, and have high levels of human health and those countries that do not. The countries that are not industrialized, and do not have political and economical stability, and have low levels of human health are categorized as third world countries. In these third world countries the gender gap is obvious in various ways, through education and also environmental. Women’s impact often times can go unrecognized because they are not able to completely demonstrate their abilities. Women in the third world countries are unvalued both culturally and politically, however through educational advancement their value can become more prominent.
Gender inequality in the world remains a big challenge. Of the 1.6 billion people who live in poverty, majority are women. In many of these developing countries or third world countries there are far fewer girls than boys found in secondary schools and it makes it difficult for them to find good jobs which means less food and much poorer, harsher lifestyles. Women’s life span has begun to decrease and men tend to live longer lives. This is a contradictory statement although statistics show that women live longer lives than men. Women in third world countries are suffering in the environment in which they live in, not only is it unsanitary for them to eat, drink, and sleep, but also prevents from reproducing healthy children. Women in the third world countries like Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania, all have cultures that mainly revolve around the average male, are beginning to have a shot at ruling. These hardworking women are showing the interest in education, politics, medicine, etc., which will create dreams that turn into the reality goal. With determined women chasing their dreams, the world with be complete. With help from others around the world who advocate for more women’s’ rights in developing countries, it will be possible to remove the gap that is found between women and education in these Third world countries.
Women throughout history have fought very hard to earn a respectable place in society, despite a patriarchal society and male dominance that remains. The roles of women have developed widely over time. Women frequently fall inferior to men politically, socially, and intellectually. This intellectual gap restricted many women to the role of a domestic caretaker. For others, education is the foundation to discover new ideas and new ways of thinking.
As huge as the gender hole is, women, above all in developed countries have more contingencies today than ever before. But even with this, no country has truly accomplished gender equality. We need to shut down the gender gap in capacities such as health,employment, and education. The destiny of our world entrusts on the young women of todays times. Women have been struggling for equality for thousands of years. Even though we have taken many successes on our battle for equality and have made a tremendous amount of progress, we still are at disadvantages. We have been approved to vote and now we now can apply or take any job a male can have. Even if we are able do this, we nonetheless still are pinned to the equal expectations we had for all these years. We are anticipated to watch over the kids, have dinner made ready for everyone to enjoy, to do the laundry, and make sure the dishes are clean and put back where they belong. We must make our way towards the movements needed to make sure that the health of women around the world is efficient and fair. We must inform coverage and encourage actions throughout international location, groups, and development partners. For centuries now, males and females have never been viewed as equals. Males receive better wages, more opportunities, and greater praise compared to women. Equality is a goal throughout society, yet we are very far from achieving it. It is evident throughout society that women are not yet equal to men, when women are constantly objectified by people in our society. There are obvious differences between men and women whether it’s anatomically, financially, and so forth. The gender inequalities women face compared to men is alarming and saddening. Gender stereotypes reinforce gender inequalities because stereotypes can often be internalized which results in biases against either sex. I have chosen to write about the women’s education rights in Afghanistan I believe that the education of women is necessary for any country’s development. In fact, women are the mothers, sisters and daughters and they deserve to be a part of the society. Also, Women should be treated the same as men, so they can be productive in their countries and contribute to its development. Women need to be independent and have their right to study and join schools and colleges. Actually, they can be effective citizens if they have enough support. Women need to have the basic knowledge, so they can deal with different life issues. They need to be educated, so they can be aware of different diseases and participate in the development of their country. Also, the lack of education for women can be a reason of social and economic problems. Women today face many hardships and suffer throughout the world because of poverty and the multiple factors that contribute to it. The “Feminization of Poverty” is a multifaceted problem that does not only have a huge impact on women, but to their children and the society as a whole. This term describes a phenomenon in which women represent unequal percentages of the world’s poor. The UNIFEM describes it as “ the burden of poverty borne by women, especially in developing countries” (“Economic Empowerment, FIND YEAR). To me this definition explains how hard my single mother had to work for a job supporting my brothers and I. This concept is not only a result of low income, but it is also because of the disadvantages of opportunities and gender bias in society (Brady and Krall, 2008). In the contemporary society, education is a foundational human right. It is essentially an enabling right that creates various avenues for the exercise of other basic human rights. Once it is guaranteed, it facilitates the fulfillment of other freedoms and rights more particularly attached to children. Equally, lack of education provision endangers all fundamental rights associate with the welfare of human beings. Consequently, the role of education and in particular girl child education as a promoter of nation states welfare cannot be overemphasized. As various scholars asserts, the challenges and problems faced by the African girl child, to enjoy her right to education are multifaceted. Such difficulties include sexual abuse, child labor, discrimination, early pregnancies, violence and poverty, culture and religious practices (Julia 219). Across the developing world, millions of young girls lack proper access to basic education. In the contemporary society, this crisis, which is particularly critical in remote and poor region of sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia have fascinated increased public attention. However, almost all global nation states have assured their commitment in addressing various girl child challenges and allowed a declaration to enable each young girl and boy receive education by the year 2015 (Herz and Sperling 17). This target was firmly established and approved in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. However, this study will focus on girls’ education in Africa and its impacts to their livelihood.
It is true of Africa that women constitute a treasure that remains largely hidden. (Moleketi 10) African women grow 90% of all African produce, and contribute about 70% of Africa’s agricultural labor every year. (Salmon 16) Both the labor and food that are provided by African women go towards the increase in Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). (Moleketi 10) Although African women are feeding the majority of Africa’s inhabitants, the constricting ropes of gender inequality are still holding them back from being appreciated and living up to their full potential. Outstandingly, women such as President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, of Liberia, have gladly accepted the challenge of breaking free of these ropes. The history of women’s rights in Africa, the glass ceiling, and the modern aspects of women’s rights, all play prominent roles in the overall condition of women’s rights in Africa. Until the day arrives that these discriminatory injustices are corrected, individuals in African nations will continue to struggle.
An important area for the development of a country is definitely the health sector, but in countries like Nepal where the Human Development Index(WHO, 2012) is only 0.463, a lot of people do not even receive any health provisions. The ethnic groups such as Dalit and Janajati in Nepal, are much affected by the unequal access and use of state- provided public health resources, facilities and services. In many cases, even among all these, it is the women and children (especially girls) who suffer the most as they are discriminated based on gender, caste and ethnicity. That being said, through this research I will be focusing on the health issues among the women in Nepal and how various factors such as the gender inequality, caste system, and traditional beliefs contribute to affect their health.
