1)Definitions:
a) Gender- “The state of being either male or female”. (Oxford Dictionary, 2014)

b) Sexism-“Prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex. Sexism in language is an offensive reminder of the way the culture sees women” (Oxford Dictionary, 2014)

c) Gender stereotyping- “the relatively fixed and overgeneralized attitudes and behaviours that are considered normal and appropriate for a person in particular based on his or her biological sex.” (Psychology Dictionary, 2014)

d) Gender Equality- “Gender equality is achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making, and when the different behaviours, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and …show more content…

For example, an event will happen, such as a party because of a men’s rugby match but nothing happens and no one knows about a women’s rugby match. The women rugby cup is also only 7 aside where as men have a full rugby team. Results have also shown that professional men sports players get higher wages/salary than women and scholarships are also given more so to men than women because schools and Universities know that if they have one of the best male sport players they have more of a chance to get noticed than women.

C)i) A gender role is a certain job character or behaviour that an individual should have based on their gender that is considered socially appropriate by others. Acceptable gender roles alter within different cultures of the world. There are still certain jobs that are dominated by a certain gender in our society and in many other societies around the world.
