The Author of the Great Gatsby was F. Scott Fitzgerald, he has written other novels before but none of them stood out like The Great Gatsby. The theme of the book is very military background and however, emphasizes a much larger, less romantic scope Fitzgerald positions the characters.
The story is about a man who wasn't very wealthy and then comes across a decent amount of money and now lives in west egg. Jay Gatsby was that man he joined the military and fell in love with Daisy Buchanan who he never got over when he went to war. “ I was in the ninth Machine-Gun Battalion.) was created as the 9th Division during World War I, but never deployed overseas. He was in the seventh Infantry unit June nineteen-Eighteen.The division was first activated in December 1917 in World War I, and based at Fort Ord, California for most of its history. Once Nick seen Gatsby they talked for a while about the war and “some wet, grey little villages in france. Evidently he lived in this vicinity for he told me that” Nick and Gatsby are neighbors.
One day Gatsby decided to go to Nick's house and invite him to lunch (pg 68) he showed up in one of his cars, which was a rich cream color, bright with nickel swollen here and there in its monstrous length with triumphant heatboxes and upper boxes and tool boxes.
Nick was sitting “behind many layers of glass in a sort of green leather conservatory we started down town.” they talked about Gatsby and his life until they reached were they we're going to eat. Gatsby got medal in the military For Valor Extraordinary. They planned to have lunch but Gatsby told nick he's having lunch with miss baker. Which lead to stuff like more drama and a climax change. Near the end of the story Myrtle's husband got in a tussle with tom because he thought his wife was cheating. Tom being the sneaky bastard he is lied to Myrtle’s Husband and told him Jay had an affair with her. He heated to jay’s house barged through the front door and killed jay.
