Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz! Garfield gasps as his alarm clock goes Beep! Beep! Beep! Garfield is a lazy boy who likes to do nothing but eat, watch television, and sit on the couch. To begin with, on one beautiful Saturday morning Garfield woke up at eleven thirty in the morning. He threw his blanket aside, and pulled himself to the phone, and called Wendy’s for a glass of milk. Then he calls burger king and orders a big whopper with large fries. The same thing that happened with the Italian food happened with this one it was gone in a blink of an eye. It was once again time for his nap, but he had forgotten that his report was due tomorrow. Garfield wakes up the next day lazy as always, to go to school, and while he was changing he sees his report, “AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH” he says. His mind in torture, howling like a wolf at dawn, and not knowing what he should do. He tries to write, but he has a severe writer's block because he had no ideas of what to write about. The children share how they also had a special toy they did not want no one to take it from them, after discussion the children had an opportunity to work on a sequence book in which they will create the story as they remember what happen. Billy is coming home from work one day when suddenly he hears some dogs up the street fighting. He goes to check it out and finds them picking on a redbone hound. He saves the dog and cares for it through the night. It reminds him of his childhood. When Billy was ten years old he lived on a farm in the Ozark Mountains of northeastern Oklahoma. He wanted two good coonhounds very badly, he called it “puppy love”, but his papa could not afford to buy him the dogs. For many months, Billy tries to content himself with some rodent traps his papa gives him, but he still wants a dog. Then one day he finds a sportsman’s catalog in an abandoned campsite. In it he sees an ad for good hounds, at $25 each. He decides he wants to save $50 and order himself two hounds. Billy works hard, selling fruit and bait to fishermen, and gathering fruit that he sells to his grandfather at his store. Finally, he saves enough money and gives it to his grandfather to order the dogs for him and asks him to keep it s secret. When a notice comes that they have arrived at the mail depot in the nearby town of Tahlequah, they decide to go into town the next week. That night Billy decides he can not wait any longer. He packs himself a little food, and heads of for town following the river through the woods. He walks all night, and finally reaches town in the morning. The people in town laugh and stare at the young hillbilly, but it does not bother Billy he is there on a mission to get his dogs. He finally collects his dogs and walks back out of town with their small heads sticking out of his bag. Some schoolchildren mob around him and knock him down, but the town sheriff rescues him. The sheriff is impressed with Billy’s determination, and says he has grit. That, night Billy camped in a cave with his two puppies. They wake up in the middle of the night to hear the call of a mountain lion. Billy builds a fire to keep them safe, while the bigger of the two dogs, the male, barks into the night air.

Bruno is getting really upset that he can no longer see his friends or his grandparents. He is stuck in his house and can’t explore as much as he would like because there is no one to explore with. He notices something out his window one day, a large fenced in area with little tiny dots moving. He asks his sister and maid Maria what they are but they don’t know. He decides one day that he is going to explore the fenced in area, so he leaves when no one is looking and explores it for about two hours walking up and down the fence looking for something. Finally he comes across I boy about the same size of him so he goes up and talks to him. The boy’s name is Shmuel and they are the same age. Bruno learns that he is stuck behind the fence and has nothing to wear but the striped pajamas. Bruno doesn’t understand why he is there but is told how awful it is behind the fence.
Then the girl had to take a break because it was snack time. But after she was done she came right back to playing. She got the entire family up and at the breakfast table, where there were tiny plates sitting at each chair. “Once you’re done get dressed and hop in the car,” said the mother. A couple seconds later she piled all of her dolls in the car. “Where are we going momma,” asked the little boy. After she drives the car around their house she says “we’re at the drive through zoo!” The kids scream with excitement. “Remember children, these are exotic animals, they can be found in the wild or the zoo,” said the mother doll. When the car would drive by the animals, the girl would make animal sounds to its corresponding animal. In addition to the animal sounds that were made, the student also said “oooohhh” and “aahhh.” After they got through all the animals she drove the car around the house and took all of the dolls out. The student then stated that she was bored and was going to move on to another center. She cleaned up her mess and moved
Before reading the story, the students are to sit in a circle as I explain the instructions to them. One student is going to play the hungry thing and the rest of the students are going to play the townspeople. The hungry thing is going to wear an envelope around his neck that says feed me in the front and thank you in the back and the rest of the students are going to receive food picture cards. In the story, the hungry thing can only say words that rhymes with the name of the food and the townspeople have to figure out what food names rhyme with what the hungry thing wants. For example, the hungry thing might say pilk and the townspeople have to respond with milk.

At the onset of this book, the reader is introduced to the narrator, Nick Carraway, who relates the past happenings that construct the story of Jay Gatsby and Nick during the summer of 1922. After fighting in World War I, or the Great War as Nick called it, Nick left his prominent family in the West of America for the North where he intended to learn the bond business. Nick was originally supposed to share a house in West Egg near New York City with an associate of his, but the man backed out and so Nick lived with only a Finnish cook. Yet Nick did not even hear about Gatsby until he went to visit his distant family at East Egg next to West Egg.
