The author of Gang leader for a Day is Sudhir VenKatesh. I have never read a book from this author before but I was fascinated by this compelling story. This book is Non-Fiction for people who enjoy drama and seeing things from a different perspective. I don’t typically read these types of books although I wouldn’t mind reading another one. The title definitely grabbed my attention, sparked my interest and it went correspondent with the text. The cover portrays the author as kind of a fearless rebel which made me excited to read this book. There are no other pictures throughout the book. Some of the characters in the book are J.T. who makes a living organizing the drug trade. Autry, who mediates disputes between rival gangs. C-Note, who hustles fixing cars and appliances. Officer Reggie is who makes sure that peace reigns between rival gang factions in the area. Ms. Mae is J. T’s Mom. Clarisse is a prostitute and is also a distant relative of JT. Ms. Bailey is the representative for tenants’ rights, and T-Bone is who manages the gang’s finances. I liked most of the characters but my favorite would have to be C-Note because of his skills to hustle. …show more content…

Venkatesh’s personality unlocks many doors for him that one can’t help but think if it’s not an elaborate act that he pretends to be very ignorant of everything hoping that others will take it upon themselves and show him up. However, if his innocent personality is actually a research tool then he gives no indication of it in the book, when at times it even got him into some trouble. This book appealed to me in an interesting
In the last chapter titled “The Stay Together Gang”, J.T. becomes promoted to the highest ranks of the Black Kings which he then invites Venkatesh to tag along to these high-level meetings.
