Australia is also known for its warm and sunny climate, unique outback, natural and wild beaches, and Australian are sport obsessed. By obsession, gambling is also one of the activities that Australians obsessed with. As Delfabbro and King (2012) have noted in their journal, gambling is always a feature of Australian life way before the British settlement as under form of playing cards, racing, and lotteries, though many other forms had been formed over the years such as electronic gaming machines, gaming tables, and pokers. Gambling is embedded within Australian society as part of their culture as a form of entertainment that attracts tourist and a source of revenue government and private enterprise. Some might say that gambling is not as bad due to the fact that it promotes the growth of the country, both in foreign investment, foreign budget and taxes. they may go further to explain that gambling increases tourism and globalization.
Australia is always the destination that attract tourists who love and want an adventure trip because of its unique, wild and natural environment. According to Yap (2012, p. 111), international tourists from North-East Asia accounted for 28% of the total tourist arrivals to Australia, followed by Oceania and Antarctica (21%) and North-West Europe (21%) between 1991 and 2010. Tourists usually come to Australia for livable cities such as Sydney and Melbourne with many festivals that traditional Aboriginal culture as well as other cultures. Beside enjoying the outback and festivals, casinos are the second option destination for tourists have an occasional flutter. Addicted to gambling has a negative outcomes which usually happen to people who think that they can stop gambling if they lose.
Gambling is as bad as addicted to drug, alcohol, or smoking if people do not know how to control their gambling behavior. For people who have problem gambling, they usually lose more than twenty thousands dollars in a year. With a large losing amount of money, many people fall in debt though they do not seek for help or need the help from others because of feeling of shame , disbelieving in counselors, as well as families.
