The diagram shows Japan can produce camcorders at lower costs - its supply curve is lower than the UK. This means that Japan has a comparative advantage in producing camcorders.
In the absence of international trade between the two countries, British consumers would have to buy at a higher equilibrium price than Japanese consumers. Since Japan is more efficient, it makes sense for Japan to specialise in production of camcorders and export their surplus output to the UK at a lower free trade price. At the intermediate price shown in the diagram, (the free trade price) Japan sells exports to the UK for a higher price but this is still lower than the UK equilibrium price. Japan receives revenue from the sale of these exports.
UK consumers can now buy more camcorders at a lower price and have more choice in the market
We are ignoring transportation costs between the two countries and we are assuming that the resources that were previously allocated to producing camcorders in the UK can be reallocated to other industries (i.e. resources are assumed to be occupationally mobile).
Free trade, interchange of commodities across political frontiers without restrictions such as tariffs, quotas, or foreign exchange controls. This economic policy contrasts with protectionist policies that use such restrictions to protect or stimulate domestic industries. In this article I will discuss the positive and negative effects of free trade. Trade can lead to an improvement in overall economic welfare if countries specialize in the products in which they have a production advantage. Trade allows businesses to exploit economies of scale by operating in international markets. International competition stimulates higher efficiency and reduces monopoly power. Trade enhances consumer choice and international competition between suppliers helps to keep prices down. Trade in ideas stimulates product and process innovations that generates better products for consumers and enhances the overall standard of living.
Negative effects:
Within countries, the gap between rich and poor has also generally increased. In the United States wealthier people tend to receive more income from owning shares of companies, while poor and middle income people get most of their income from wages and salaries. If a company makes more profits by moving its production offshore, those who own its shares will see their incomes rise while those people who lost their jobs will see their income fall. So as the trade deficit has increased, the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer.
Trade is the most common form of transferring ownership of a product. The concepts are very simple, I give you something (a good or service) and you give me something (a good or service) in return, everyone is happy. However, trade is not limited to two individuals. There are trades that happen outside national borders and we refer to that as international trading. Before a country does international trading, they do research to understand the opportunity costs and marginal costs of their production versus another countries production. Doing this we can increase profit, decrease costs and improve overall trade efficiency. Currently, there are negotiations going on between 11 countries about making a trade agreement called the Trans-Pacific
She gave the children the dress she made and the diadem, submerged with poison and instructed her to give these gifts to the princess under the false impression that she wants to please her so she may convince her father to allow the children to stay in Corinth. After the death of the king and the princess, Medea kills her two children. The only time the children have spoken and they plead to live. There is no future for the children, to escape their mother’s wrath and anger and her drive to hurt and destroy everything and everyone that Jason loves and cares about. Medea contributes to the work as a whole because we see her side of the story and understand the motives behind her action and the consequences as the result of her madness. Medea is the rising action and the climax of the play. We also see Jason side of the story from his conversations with Medea and his explanation was awful. He is the reason for the conflict and issues for Medea but Jason does not take care of the problems he created nor does he take the responsibility for the consequences of his actions. He married a sorceress and not a normal Greek
While some people may believe that Medea crossed the line when she had killed four people, including her children, in order to get revenge, others view this killing as justifiable because it was the only way to truly hurt Jason. Yet, because of how emotional Medea was and where she came from, readers believe her to be demented and barbaric. However, readers will have to take into factor the actions that Medea took before this story took place and is told throughout the story in Medea’s own confession, “Love for you was greater than my wisdom. Then I killed Pelias in the most agonizing way, at the hands of his own daughters, and demolished his household, all of it. Now, after I’ve done all this to help you, you brute, you betray me and help
Sex builds an important foundation for making choices, authority over assets, separation of work, valuing men/women connections in terms of gender roles in authority sharing and connection to evolution assets (Oluwagbemi-Jacob 224). Gender roles as shown are decided by many different things in the tribe. Gender plays a big role in the Igbo tribe. Oluwagbemi-Jacob says men and women gender parts are decided by the society because sexuality means opposite things. Being harsher to females, than to males is authority for sexuality. The females were supposed to be very proper and real and more attention was put on the female 's virginity. The gender roles are determined by the sexuality and manliness and feminism of the individual. This shows how some of the roles are chosen for the males and females. Males and females who were talented in the center of their manliness and feminism appropriately were acclaimed. Fortunate females got to take over men 's roles in the tribe. Something that has made an acceleration to several arguments is gender communication (Oluwagbemi-Jacob 225). The gender
Cystic fibrosis, also known as CF, affects over 30,000 children and adults world-wide. CF is a disease in the lungs and digestive system and is still incurable today. According to www.cff.org/aboutcf, over 70% of CF patients are diagnosed at two years of age. Cystic fibrosis is one of the most life-threatening diseases in the United States and is very common amongst chronic diseases. Cystic fibrosis is most commonly diagnosed in young children and sometimes adults.
Because of Medea’s strange way of thinking, the reader is able to identify with her. Although she wishes harm on Jason, Medea does not care who else gets hurt along the way. “Ah, lost in my sufferings, I wish, I wish I might die,” (pg. 692, line 97-8). She is able to convince the reader with her first line that her suffering has been so awful, that there is no longer any point in living. Before truly understanding what is going on in the play, Medea is able to get many people on her side. At the very least, she is able to make most people feel sorry for her right away, and recognize her as a pitiful character.
Child abuse is the physical, sexual, or emotional mistreatment, or neglect of a child. It can be detrimental to one’s daily life, affecting not only the abused child, but also those who are associated with the child. It can have lasting effects that may carry over to adulthood and cause potential issues with relationships or perhaps within their own families as well. It is important that we learn to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect so that we can save the lives and future of our children. Child abuse is widespread, often not reported, and is responsible for many problems involving our youth today.
According to an article based on child abuse “The HHS indicates in Child Maltreatment 2008 states CPS agencies received about 3.3 million reports of child maltreatment involving 6 million children.”(Doak, Defining Child Abuse and Domestic Violence) Child abuse whether it is physical, emotional, neglect or sexual it usually is caused by either parents, guardians or others who take care of the child. Physical abuse is distinguished by injuries such as beating or by harsh discipline. Pushing around a child excessively by either smacking, beating, shaking, shoving, stabbing, throwing, kicking, choking or biting are all under the category of physical abuse because that is the harm that is left on a child’s body after that type of abuse. In most cases the abuser isn’t really aware of how much force they use on their victim, it’s them showing a sign of discipline on the child In some studies it is stated that two out of three children are physically abused. Some physical signs for this abuse would be unexplained injuries that are not affected by normal childhood activities, repeated injuries such as from a hand, a belt

Medea, a barbarian woman who once complied with Jason to acquire the Golden Fleece betrays her country by killing her brother and father to run in exile to Corinth. Jason takes Medea, who is not from a Greek background to Greece, a male-dominated society, where he then betrays her for a royal bed. This causes Medea to seek revenge and kill individuals around Jason including her own children. Medea is considered a tragic drama where the protagonist, Medea, atrociously murders innocent individuals in order to get revenge on Jason who betrayed her by marrying a princess. Although Jason’s betrayal causes Medea sorrow, there is overwhelming evidence throughout the play of characters who heard Medea’s evil plans of revenge towards innocent victims, therefore, her immoral actions shall be given a trial in Corinth where
Child abuse is any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse, or exploitation, or an act of failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2012a) (Olson, Defrain, & Skogrand, 2014, p. 437). Abuse can happen to anyone at any time, even children of all ages. The abuse can be given by anyone. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, nearly 1,500 children died from abuse or neglect in 2003, in the latest year for which reasonably reliable statistics are available (March 2006) (Dudley, 2008). That is four children every day and that estimated number is probably low
The young girl sat along the cold frozen street, with no shoes or proper clothing (**). The readers are unaware of the time period, but we can infer from the text that it was not in modern times. In the beginning of the story the setting is clear and very descriptive, although we still can not tell what time period this story takes place. “And the poor little thing lost them as she scuffled away across the street, because of two carriages that rolled by dreadfully fast” (**). When the author writes about the carriages, we know that it is not in present times. The little girl was wanting to go home, but she knew that she would get blows if she came home without money for the matches (**). Readers of “The Little Match Girl” can get a sense of the setting, and the hard life of the little maiden. The little maiden only finds comfort when she strikes the match against the wall, just to get some comfort and warmth (**). The little maiden feels the warmth, and is greeted with the only person in her life that cannot be with her, her grandmother. The overall setting of “The Little Match Girl,” is grim, and very negative. The coldness shows the reader that the little girl is all alone, and has no one to comfort
Free trade can be defined as the free access of the market by individuals without any restriction or any trade barriers that can obstruct the trade process such as taxes, tariffs and import quotas. Free trade in its own way unites and brings people together. Most individuals love the concept of free trade because it gives them the ability to move freely and interact in the market. The whole idea of free trade is that it lowers the price for goods and services by promoting competition. Domestic producers will no longer be able to rely on government law and other forms of assistance, including quotas which essentially force citizens to buy from them. The producers will have to enter the market and strive into to obtain profit.
Child abuse has been defined as, any intentional act that results in physical or emotional harm to a child. This could cover any behavior from assault, to neglect, to molestation. (Encarta 1) In 1995, a study was done by the National Center on Child Abuse & Neglect. They concluded that in the United States alone, approximately 3 million children are victims of some sort of maltreatment each year. This means that an unimaginable amount of our county’s adolescents are being seriously mistreated, and the numbers are rising steadily. While the specific definition of child abuse may differ from state to state, the effects unfortunately do not. Physical maltreatment, neglect and sexual abuse create immediate problems for children, as well as long term damage. Some common effects on sufferers of abuse include, a lowered sense of self worth, an inability to relate to others, short attention span and often they develop learning disorders. More detrimental cases can develop severe depression or anxiety, schizophrenia, violent behavior and an increased risk of suicide. (Encarta 3) In some cases, abused children learn how to cope with their experiences and grow to healthy adults, but most are not that lucky. Most victims of abuse are forced to deal with the results for their entire lives.
