Throughout my academic career, my test scores and transcripts have been a pretty accurate representation of my intellect and my work ethic. However, there are some issues involving my GPA and class rank. In my sophomore year, I decided that I wanted to get ahead in math in order to prepare for future classes. However, due to the timing of this decision, the only way I would be able to finish both geometry and pre-cal would be to do them online through Midway’s excel program. Although getting ahead allowed me to take Calculus my junior year, I was not able to get a weighted credit for the semesters of geometry and pre-cal taken, which resulted in a drop in my GPA. The West Point Cheating Scandal Description: In April of 1976 it was found that there was a possibility that over half of the junior class at West Point Academy had violated the West Point honor code by cheating on a case assignment. The honor code states "A cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do. " This was by far the largest violation of the honor code in West Point history and presented some unusual challenges to the administration. As the year dragged on, it was found that more and more students possibly had cheated on the assignment and was also becoming a public relations nightmare in the press and internally to the Army branch of the United States military. The honor code at West Point was pointed and harsh in its dealings with violators and this case brought scrutiny, criticism as well as staunch support for the code and how violations were dealt with.
My GPA is a 4.1000 and it teeters between 4.1500 and 4.1000. I haven't ever had a C and my grades are all A’s or A+’s. I also make sure I behave in class, so my work habits grades are also all A’s and A+’s. I’m consistently make sure that I keep my grades where they are and I always am striving for my best. If I do happen to get a grade I'm not fond of, I make sure that as soon as possible I get my grade back up to the desired A or A+. For instance, once I had a complex goal not met, so as soon as I could, I made sure I got my grade up. Now that goal is met and my grade for that quarter is A+. Even in the topics I don't enjoy as much, I make sure I work my hardest. I’m always trying to improve my grade with extra credits and 4.0 opportunities. Throughout my two years in high school, I have been trying to maintain a certain grade point average. I’ve passed two of my state tests already and I have yet to take my English II and U.S. History state test. I passed my Algebra I test in 8th grade with Proficient and my Biology I test my freshman year with Proficient. My grades fell off the first 9 weeks of this school year because I had a hard time understanding English II and I ended up scoring Basic on my 1st 9 weeks benchmark test. Now I have made a promise to myself that I will be advanced in everything from now on. I’ve been studying more and working in my SATP practice booklets and now my grades are improving. When I was in 2nd grade I was accepted into the Gifted/Excel class at Bentonia Gibbs up until my 7th grade year at Yazoo County Junior High. I recently graduated high school, being in the top three percent of my class, all while being a captain in the varsity football team and working full time. Throughout my career at WHS, I have maintained nearly perfect grades and worked hard to excel – not just to earn an A, but to fully understand the material. I have taken every advanced course offered to me and more. I have taken 7 AP tests and earned 7 5’s. I scored nearly perfect on the SAT (superscore of 2380), nearly perfect on the ACT (raw score of 35.25), and have pushed myself by taking AP courses over the summer and performing well in ACP classes. To do so, I will attend the law enforcement program at BOCES, a vocational school connected to the school in which I attend. And post high school, I intend apply to the State University of New York of Canton. While attending SUNY Canton, I’ll earn an AAS in criminal justice. The acceptance rate at SUNY Canton is 87%, thus I won’t have to worry about getting rejected. SUNY Canton’s high acceptance rate, however, is overshadowed with it’s incredibly low graduation rate, which is 32%. The NCAA and its student-athletes deal with much more than are seen by the general public. The coaches and players always have hidden agendas. Scandals or infractions are committed every year in collegiate sports and are left unnoticed. The NCAA does its best in trying to keep this under control but have difficulty doing so. Student-Athletes receiving improper benefits and breaking NCAA rules are a common group and information on these atrocities must be brought to light.

I am respectfully writing a request of waiver of Rule G(1) of the student handbook, requiring students to maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain enrolled. During the Fall 2016 semester I failed one course, causing me not to earn the 2.0 GPA required to remain a student at Florida Coastal School of Law. My academic background consists of a four-year undergraduate education (major in international economics) and a two-year graduate education (major in finance). During my undergraduate program, I passed courses on calculus, intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, statistics, and econometrics. Class rank is a flawed system designed to benefit very few people, hurt students’ chances at scholarships and college admission, and add extra stress to the lives of high school students. The most effective solution to how class rank negatively affects students is to get rid of it completely. The entire system is flawed in a way that doesn’t give hard-working students the recognition they crave and deserve. Just the concept of comparing students, who all learn differently, is an unpleasant idea to begin with. Comparing students has the immediate potential to affect students psychologically and academically because of the way it hurts student’s self-confidence.
