California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Texas are the states with the highest employment level in this occupation. The Education required to become a Preschool
and/or Childcare Center Director is a bachelor’s degree and several years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Many states require childcare center workers to be licensed. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, to qualify for licensure, “staff must pass a background check, have a complete record of immunizations, and meet a minimum training requirement set by employer. Some states require staff to have certifications in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as well” (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S). In addition, some employers also require their workers to have nationally recognized credentials, such as the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Finally, some important skills or qualities for this occupation are business skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and organizational skills. The goal of financing the cost of education is going to be continued in the future stages of my financial life cycle because I do have some student loans helping to put me through schooling right now and once I graduate from college I will have to start making payments on my loans. So, when I am making my monthly budget for once I graduate I will have to factor in that student loan payment into my budget. I also am thinking about continuing with school and getting my master’s degree after a couple of years of working which will be another added education cost/monthly payment I will be making/planning for.
The career path that I want to pursue is in the medical field. I major in psychology and minor in biology because going to medical school has always been my desire. Being a pediatrician is my goal I wish to conquer. I am beyond interested and passionate about this career. It is not just a career, it is my life dreams. I want to be able to enjoy going to work every day knowing I love my job and I am here because I want to. Being a pediatrician I am able to work with children and many people of different cultures. I am thrilled to know that I will be capable of caring for sick children.
Universal Preschool exists as a program intended to allow free universal Preschool to all four-year-old children, regardless of their family’s financial situation. The particular video explores both sides of the argument, clearly showing that the program has its pros and cons. One concept against Universal Preschool I found interesting is the impact it would have on licensed home care providers. By requiring them to have credentials to teach preschool aged children, many individuals, woman in particular, would be left without a reliable income. I selected this concept because I have not decided if I would like to use my Associates in Early Childhood Education to become an assistant preschool school teacher or if opening a licensed home care facility would be a wiser decision. In other words, by requiring credentials to teach all ages 4 and up, I would be forced to further my education before being allowed to work with preschool children, which, consequently, would limit my income for several more

Truck driving is a much needed career to help transport goods across the United States and other local areas. Commercial Truck Driving is the career I choose to uphold. Trucking is a way of transportation needed to keep business going. Trucking has been a part of my family for years so I fell in love with trucks now I won’t to drive my own. This career has a good background, career requirements, job positions, and a good reflection.
Another factor parents may not look into when finding a preschool is the curriculum that will be taught. “Despite decades of federal, state, and local programs intended to support young children’s preparation for schooling, children from low-income families continue to begin formal schooling at a disadvant...
The value of preschool is often overlooked as parents consider it for its utilitarian purposes. Although most preschools do function as a daycare, the merits gained from an early education follow children throughout their entire lives. Children at this ripe age are eager to learn, excited about the buzzing world aroun...
Try To Get a Better Job Opportunity in this field because I have a plan to buy my on Preschool in a future, also get my bachelor in early childhood education
Changing demographics in America are leading to an increased need for preschools. In 1950, only 14% of mothers of children under six worked outside the home (Williams 351), but in 1995, the U.S. Census Bureau reported that 63.5% of mothers of children under age six worked outside the home (Garey 4). The number of families with two working parents is steadily rising; the number of single-parent families is also increasing. Many families cannot afford to have a parent at home full time but have a hard time affording preschool or childcare costs. A publication by L.M. Casper, printed by the U.S. Census Bureau, found that on average, parents spend 8% of their family's income on childcare (Kinch 68). Many of these parents make great sacr...
To begin preschool coasts too much money. A typical preschool costs $3,000-$20,000 or more a year. The average minnesota preschool in 2012 costed around $157-$225 a week or $6,750-$9,680 for ten months. In states with a higher population like New York most preschools are more in the $19,000 for ten months (how much). Furthermore child care is cheaper for families. When families hire a babysitter they can choose the amount that they can afford to pay. Families may send their kids off to a relative's house for free for the day. They may also send their kid to daycare which runs more so around $100 per week for daycare. Moreover low income families cannot afford the cost of preschool. In 2011 the average low income family made $1,785 a month or $21,430 a year (the average). So paying for preschool is a big chunk of their income that they can not afford to lose with the expenses of necessities for life. These are reasons why preschool is too
Each education level, level of hands-on experience and continuing training is different for each position in child care. For example, an aide position only requires, “an orientation upon hire and must 16 years of age” ("Careers in Early Childhood: A Maryland Guide"). On the other hand, a nursery school teacher must have several more respectable qualifications. These include, “a Bachelor's degree, 120
Through extensive research I have learned a lot about the career field I have chosen to attain. A preschool director provides leadership and assistance to teachers and staff as well as providing educational and non-academic activities for the school’s programs. Depending on if the school you choose to work for is public or private depends on the requirements that are needed to be eligible for the position of director. Public schools usually do not expect a degree but some want a Masters Degree, while private schools look for a Bachelors or a Masters Degree. The Bachelors Degree would be desired in early childhood education or a relat...
When seeking a career, it is important to see the future growth of the job and the salary. It will determine how difficult it will be to find placement. Early childhood educators are the first people to truly show an impact on children and will always be needed. The projected growth of early childhood lead educators between 2014 to 2024 is 7% (Elrick). They will be needed in the upcoming future and the projected growth is said to go up even further. The median annual salary in the United States is $28,120 (Elrick). Many people do not choose this career because the salary is very low compared to the amount of hours spent. Early childhood educators spend a lot of time and energy for these children. They also have to understand that their pay is considerably low compared to many other
“Universal preschool” is a need for American’s because the cost of sending a child to a preschool is too much for most families (Wolfe and Scrivner 113). Roughly 49.3% of children of the ages three and four in America are enrolled in preschool (Percent of Population Ages 3 and 4 who are Enrolled in School: Census 2000 para 1). To send a child into daycare the cost of it is around $150 per week, and for three children in a preschool program is around $350 per week. Parents should not have to pay this much for their children to go to preschool. Children who go to preschool have a greater chance to become successful in the future, and missing out on the opportunity to become more successful can ultimately hurt the child in the...
Preschool teachers are becoming more and more sought after. The Bureau of Labor Statistics sees the need for Preschool teachers increasing by 25 percent by 2020, which is a faster increase than normal. It is widely accepted that early childhood education is important for a child’s intellectual and social development. As a result, there has been increasing demand for preschool programs, which is expected to create demand for preschool teachers. (Preschool Teachers, 2012) With the increase of needing more preschool teachers there will be more jobs opening in this field. Special education teachers, and elementary school teachers are not as sought after, though there is always a need for more teachers in these areas. The need for special education and elementary school teachers is only projected to increase by 17 percent according the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The enrollment rate for schools is increasing, as is the need for teachers who understand disabilities. These jobs will increase in all 3 fields by 2020, preschool jobs look to increase by 113,600 jobs (Preschool Teachers, 2012), whereas special education jobs will increase by 77,400 (Special Education Teachers, 2012) and elementary school jobs will increase the most by creating 281,500 jobs. (Kindergarten and Elementary School Teachers,...
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction.
