Did you know that all it takes to ruin someone’s life is a prairie dog and a racoon? In the movie, Furry Vengeance, a prairie dog howls at a passing car who throws a cigarette out the window. The car happens to be driven by a real estate developer who is tearing down the forest to build a new development. A racoon precedes to signal a mink who drops a ginormous boulder that rolls down the mountain and slams into the car. The car slides to the edge of the cliff and the racoon blows on the car, making it fall over the side of the mountain. All completely normal behavior for rodents, am I right? The man manages to survive the fall but quits his job which creates a job opening that Dan Sanders (Brendan Fraser) fills. Dragging his family of three …show more content…
and their entire lives to a town called Rocky Springs, Sanders finds out that this job isn’t as easy as it looks. He is tearing down the forest and the animals aren’t going to let their home go that easy! The animals start doing everything they can to stop the progress of the development.
A racoon pulled the plug of the treadmill Sanders was running on sending him flying across the room! A group of skunks piled into his car not once, but twice! We all know where that led. A crow pecked outside his house driving him mad, even throwing his wife’s papers all over the yard which made things even worse! Eventually Dan realized the animals were seeming to sabotage his new life and locked them all up in cages. That is, after he blew up the beaver dam and got stuck in a port-a-potty by a bear… Yeah, that was gross. Meanwhile, Dan Sander’s wife (Brooke Shields) was put in charge of the annual “eco-friendly” fair that happens to be sponsored by Dan’s work (a little ironic if you ask me.) Dan, figuring all of this out, sets the animals free and they wreak complete havoc on the fair. The CEO of Dan’s work, Neal Lyman (Ken Jeong) of Lyman Enterprises, accidentally tranquilizes the sponsor for the construction, Mr. Gupta (Gerry Bednob), after he attempted to break their deal. The animals attacked and dragged Mr. Lyman off in a worm tunnel, attached to a golf cart. driven by a bear. Months later, Sanders quit his job and became a park ranger. The forest was pronounced a nature reserve and all was restored back to it’s original
state. This was one of the funniest movies I have ever watched. Some of the comedy is cheesy but overall, how can you not laugh at animals ruining someone’s life? I would definitely recommend grabbing the entire family, sitting down with some popcorn, and enjoying a family movie night. Remember to watch out for the racoons! -Mac Ann Cheeze

The author of the story “Strays”, Mark Richard, starts off with the main characters, the two brothers, lying in their beds listening to the sound of stray dogs beneath the floorboards, scratching their flee infested backs, and licking the water leaking from the pipes. The mother of the children runs off into the cornfields while the father chases after her. The father’s brother, Uncle Trash, comes to babysit the boys and ends up scamming the boys out of everything they own. The parents still haven not returned, and when Uncle Trash returns after a night of heavy drinking the boys notice he was beaten up and his truck is gone. Later in the story while the adults are out of the house, the two brothers caught one of the stray dogs and sprayed

The lake finally melted and flooded the cabin, so a tent was pitched only ten yards from a hunting path. A boundary was made after the tent was pitched and the wolves never crossed it. Farley figured out the wolves were living on mice much more than caribou. When the heat came the wolves more their pups to a summer den where they could run. He watched the wolves hunting one day and was in a rage when they would not try and attack any of the healthy deer. Watching closely he figured out that they usually only eat the sick and weak deer.

Abnormal Psychology Abnormal psychology in the area within psychology that is focused on maladaptive behavior-its causes, consequences, and treatment. Abnormal psychology deals with how it feels to be different, the meanings the get attached to being different, and how society deals with people whom it considers to be different. The spectrum of differences is wide, ranging from reality defying delusions and severe debilitations to worries and behavioral quirks that we would be better off not having but do not significantly interfere with our daily lives. An example of the milder end of the spectrum is a man who was an eminently successful district attorney, was elected governor of New York on three occasions, and was almost elected president of the United States in 1948. This man, Thomas E. Dewy, reached the pinnacle of success, displaying such qualities as rectitude, efficiency, precision, and nearly limitless capacity for hard work.
The video contains the viral clip of 21-year-old Chad Wadman saving the rabbit and interviews from Wadman, his mother, and the doctor that cared for the rabbit at the California Wildfire Center. Henson then continues to reassure her audience that the “wild rabbit seen in a viral video being saved from a Southern California wildfire has been released back to the wild” and shares the release video. These videos provide the context for Hanson’s article and a strong connection to her audience’s pathos. She then continues to address the opposing side of this news event. Many critics “argued that the rabbit probably didn’t need help and that intervening with wildlife can often make things worse” (Henson). However, Hanson purposely sandwiches this opposition between “a December photo of the rabbit being treated at the California Wildlife Center” taken by Alyssa Schlange and a quote from the California Wildlife Center stating, “experts do generally advise against interfering with wildlife, [but] that in this case, the rabbit was seriously injured and definitely needed medical attention.” Hanson’s whole article is set up to prove that this event was a good deed with good
Erikson’s Stages of Development was seen most widely in Freaks and Geeks. Whenever there is a mix of freshmen age children in with older adolescents, there is always that awkward stage. When I was in the 9th grade, the school system I was in was still utilizing the junior high school and we would not enter high school until the ninth grade. The year that Freaks and Geeks was to take place, I myself was in the 9th grade, so I sympathized with the show somewhat. Sam and Rory from Gilmore Girls had trust from their mothers, where on the other hand, Danny from geeks and Lane, from Gilmore, dealt with mistrust because of how their mothers were. Danny’s mother expected him to drop everything and get what she needed, even if that meant missing school, and Lane’s mother did not allow her to
In many cultures, expectations are put upon men and women. From birth, boys are expected to be masculine and girls are expected to be feminine. These expectations follow us into adulthood. Although these expectations vary widely, in the United States, more masculine characteristics are valued (Michaelson & Aaland, 1976). Leadership and assertiveness, and other masculine characteristics are valued in work environments and other areas, while more feminine traits such as excessive expression of emotion can be less valuable. However, a combination of these characteristics, or androgyny, allows people to have important leadership skills, but also have empathy and consideration for others, and the ability to address different situations appropriately. Michaelson and Aaland defined androgyny as a combination of self-assertivity and relatedness, self-assertivity being the more masculine characteristic and relatedness being the more feminine trait. It is a combination of sensitive behaviors and controlled emotions. They described masculinity as agency, or having more emotional control and independence, and femininity as communion, or being sensitive to other people. Androgynous people showed characteristics of both.
Some are gentle and nice. But some can be very dangerous, like animals and weather. Even when Billy is hunting, nature sometimes becomes dangerous. When Billy was hunting, he was intent on catching a specific type of animal called a coon. Even though they are hunted very oftenly for their skins, coons are known to be very smart and can be very vicious when provoked and attacked. On every racoon that Billy had killed, there was not a time when his dogs did not fight the coon and come away with no wounds. The weather plays a role in the deaths of a million lives. Over the years, lives are lost by the extreme weather just outside their home. The weather has affected Billy and his dogs greatly before too. During when Billy hunted the wild coons, Little Ann almost lost her life in the winter in a long, icy river if it wasn’t for Billy’s brain. Later, on another occasion both dogs have almost lost their lives in a torrential blizzard. The snow storms during the winter also slowed Billy down when he was hunting for glory, but it did not stop him from catching those coons. It even didn’t stop him from getting to the camp hosted by the annual coon hunting competition and earning first
“Primal Fear” (1996) is a masterfully crafted film based on the novel written by William Diehl. Aaron Stampler (the main character) was on trial for the murder of an archbishop. He cunningly convinces his psychiatrist as well as his defense attorney (Martin Vail) that he suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. Stampler then plead for insanity successfully and was transferred to a mental institution for “help”. In the end, the audience shockingly discovers that Stampler had been lying the entire time about his alter ego; he manipulated everyone and clawed his way to freedom. “Primal Fear” provides excellent insight into psychopathy and contains subconscious themes the writer projects through the actions of the main characters.
