Early on, Thompson states that she wrote this book for three reasons. The first reason was her love for Tolkien’s work. The second reason was because the Rings had one of the most historically significant impacts on modern day movies. The third reason was because Thompson went to New Zealand while the film was in production. This resulted in Thompson being in the best position to write a book on how the films were made (Thompson 7-12). These examples that Thompson gave all were able to convince me of the significance of how the films were made. Rings is one of the most historically significant film trilogies ever. The franchise that came out of the films is still generating revenue, and is even having more films made. The Rings films were successful because a dedicated company handled it, Peter Jackson was brilliant, the films were able to appeal to a wide audience, and the films were made in a way that reflected the hard work and dedication of the staff. With her first couple of chapters Thompson was able to write a convincing argument. She used arguments that were backed up by lots of details and sound examples. Overall, I was not able to find anything in her book that that led me to doubt her cl
