Andy picked up Morgan at five from Groovy Vibes. They pulled into the garage and got out of the car. Andy opened the door to the door to the house and took a few steps before he stopped. “Wait.” Morgan stood still wondering what was wrong. “You have no idea how embarrassing it was to have my credit card declined. And in front of the girls!” Morgan heard Elaine’s voice although Andy’s mom was nowhere in sight. “I told you not to worry about it. You spend too much money anyway,” Steve answered. “You never let me know anything about our finances. I’m always in the dark!” “What’s the point? You never think about money before you spend it.” Their voices were coming from the bedroom. A door slammed. Andy resumed walking. He didn’t go to the kitchen or his bedroom. He walked out the front door. Morgan followed him. He sat down on the front step. “It’s best to leave when it gets like that.” He leaned against the post on the porch. Morgan sat down next to him. She had a number of questions in her head, but hesitated to ask them. After a few minutes of sitting and waiting Elaine opened the front door and stuck her head out. “There you are. I’ll be at Grandma’s if you need me.” She closed the door before either Morgan or Andy could answer. “Just wait here a few more minutes,” Andy said. Elaine backed her car out of the driveway and she drove off without another word. A moment later Steve drove his car down the driveway and he pulled in front of the house and stopped. He lowered the window. “You’re on your own for dinner. Make sure you are home by 10:00.” He raised the window and drove off. “Where’s he going?” “Country Club probably. He’ll be back tonight.” Andy stood up and opened the front door. “You hungry?” Morgan wasn’t ... ... middle of paper ... ...to the top of the machine. Morgan was used to playing in the Fantasy Universe where she was Kira of Elwyn, a warrior girl with magical powers and friends who would help her. She thought about sitting at her computer, Zaxon’s face on the screen and what he would say helping her figure out the next challenge in their shared quest. Did Zaxon miss her? Maybe he was worried about her. She reached into her pocket for her cell phone only to find two quarters and a dime. No cell phone and no computer. No Fantasy Universe where magical beings lived grand adventures. And no Zaxon. He couldn’t miss her because he wasn’t born yet. Or maybe he had been and she was lost in another version of the past. What if she did something in 1979 that caused the future to be different? How could she know if her actions here would affect the future? Maybe everything would be different when
The sound of ice swerving in the crystal clear glass echoed through my ear. I was at the Old Susy’s place regretting the decision I took for Lennie. I drank until noon and went back to the ranch. As I entered, I noticed everyone was looking at me with deep concern in their eyes. I wasn't in the mood to talk so I went straight to my bed. I heard Candy’s footsteps inch closer to me.
Again, Kristy didn't hear the slightest bit of movement so she went upstairs to look. When she got upstairs she turned to the right, walked a couple of steps, and stood in front of the already open door to Temprence's room. As her mom, Kristy thought that this was very odd because she rarely left her door open, especially when she has people over and they're in her room. Kristy approached the room, gently and subtly she opened the door to Temprence's room. She was shocked at was she saw, or more like didn't see in the room. Kristy then, walked into the room, the girls weren't there so she started searching for a note saying that they might have just gone somewhere really quickly. Instead of finding a note she found that the window was open and the safety screen had been removed. She took a couple steps so she was in front of the window and looked outside, all she saw was the screen outside directly in front of the window on the

WHEN THE DOORBELL rings at three in the morning, it's never good news. Alex Rider was woken by the first chime. His eyes flickered open, but for a moment he stayed completely still in his bed, lying on his back with his head resting on the pillow. He heard a bedroom door open and a creak of wood as somebody went downstairs. The bell rang a second time, and he looked at the alarm clock glowing beside him. There was a rattle as someone slid the security chain off the front door.
As she opened the door, Macey startled by the ghostly pale hue of Adelaide’s face asked if she was feeling well and proceeded to go through the unwritten checklist of what to say to a distraught friend.
“The silver friend knows your present and the gold friend knows all of your past dirt and glories. Once in a blue moon there is someone who knows it all, someone who knows and accepts you unconditionally, someone who is there for life.” This is a quote I read once in an article by Jill McCorkle. I wrote it down and posted on my wall. McCorkle’s description of a “gold friend” describes a friendship that I have with a group of girls who mean the world to me.

Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits.
