The story of Romeo and Juliet is about a young couple who are forbidden to marry because of their families rivalry. This eventually leads to them being torn apart and killing themselves. In the story there are two families, the Montagues and the Capulets, and because of the way they treat Romeo and Juliet, especially the Capulets, I believe that it is their fault that they committed suicide.
One of the reasons why it is their fault is because whenever Juliet would try to talk to her parents and tell them about her problems they would brush her off and try to continue with their plan of forcing her to marry Tybalt. If they had not tried to use her to gain power she wouldn’t of been forced into feeling so helpless and killing herself. Friar Lawrence says in Act 4: scene 4, “The most you sought was her promotion, for ‘twas your heaven she could be advanced. And weep ye now, seeing she is advanced above the clouds, as high as heaven itself.” He is right in front of them and telling them how they’ve just used her for her power and they don’t dismiss him at all they just seem disappointed that they couldn’t of gained her political power. If they hadn’t of abused her marriage then Juliet wouldn’t of been

If the families weren’t enemies then Tybalt wouldn’t of killed Mercutio and Romeo wouldn’t of been exiled. There would also be no need for Juliet to marry Paris because the Prince wouldn’t have anything against either of their families. In act 2: scene 1 Friar Lawrence says, “This alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love.” The Friar knows that if the two were married together and if the households would stop fighting then a lot of the problems in Verona would be put to rest. Then Romeo and Juliet would both be able to get married in the open and there would be no reason for either of them to commit
Friar Laurence’s interference in the families of Romeo and Juliet set much of the fighting, rage and death of these characters into motion. Romeo and Juliet is the title of a great tragedy. This tragedy has been caused by Friar Laurence’s involvement in the marriage of Romeo and Juliet, the Friar’s lying to Capulet and his family, and his involvement in the false death of Juliet.
"Romeo and Juliet," a famous love story about two star-crossed lovers who take their lives in order to be together. Their deaths are at the fault of one Friar Lawrence who, being an adult, a man of God and a trusted person in the community, betrayed that trust and attempted to cover up his wrong doings with a plan that ended in tragedy.
But this statement fails to mention how none of this would have ever happened if Lord Capulet hadn’t been as unforgiving. The only reason Romeo killed himself is because he couldn’t be with Juliet, and the only reason he couldn’t be with Juliet is because Lord Capulet tried to make her marry Paris. It could also be said that it was the Friar or Juliet’s fault because he made such a risky plan and she took it, but he never would have had to make this plan if Capulet had been more accepting, and she never would have had to take such a plan if she wasn’t so scared of her
“From forth the fatal loins of these two foes, A pair of star- crossed lovers take their life, Whose misadventured piteous overthrows, Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.”
Love can be very righteous and beneficial if done moderately and adequately. When ones love life takes over his or her life in reality it can prove to be highly dangerous and injurious both mentally and physically. In the play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare advises the importance of moderate love. Unfortunately though this tragic play ends in two devastating and dreadful deaths of both young lovers. However they are not totally to blame, the ones to blame for the death of these two lovers are Friar Lawrence, the nurse, and the Capulets themselves.
Youth and Age Should Friar Lawrence and the Nurse have been more careful about the way they encouraged Romeo and Juliet’s love? To what extent does Shakespeare present them as being to blame?
Friar Lawrence is perhaps one of the most ambiguous characters in Romeo and Juliet. A quick Google search for “Friar Lawrence character analysis” would only affirm that fact. The Friar “advances the plot with his wisdom and religious powers” (Castanalysis.com), yet “he is the most scheming and political of characters in the play” (Sparknotes.com). How innocent was he in the destruction of young Montague and Capulet, and what kind of a personality did he truly have?
Had Friar Lawrence not been involed with Romeos and Juliets decisions the story may not have had a tragic ending. In William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence should be blamed for the death of the two main characters. The first mistake Friar Lawrence does, is secretly marrying the two lovers with out the parents consent right after romeo had just loved his "perfect" Rosaline. Then, he agrees, to the Capulet’s, to marry Paris and Juliet. Lastly, the worst mistake was he giving Juliet the sleeping potion. All of his actions combined lead to the main character’s suicidal action.
First of all, The Montague’s and Capulet’s hatred for one another shows another depth about how human errors create the setting of Romeo and Juliet’s death. If only both families had gotten along from the beginning, the two star-crossed lovers could have had a friendship from the very start. If the families were close when they were young, they could have grown up to realize that the two were in love. Juliet would have been able to tell her parents, and that way, they would have been ecstatic about the engagement. The reason this is their fault is because if they had been on civil terms with each other, the deaths wouldn’t have occurred. Shakespeare almost made it appear like the parents did it on purpose for them to have to go behind their backs. Romeo and Tybalt’s battle to the death was also fault of the families disliking each other, and if this conflict had not taken place, the wedding wouldn’t have been forced upon Juliet. In this case, she ...
The saying: love you to death, actually comes to life. We all need to learn to live, love and laugh in our daily lives. Life goes by way too quickly. Life still goes on even if you're angry with someone. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by: William Shakespeare, the Montagues and Capulets spent their entire lives fighting. So much anger, hate and even love between the two families. Nobody would ever forget the past and move on, they hold on to those grudges. In this play, Romeo and Juliet, it was never Romeo and Juliet to blame for their suicide. Romeo and Juliet’s death was all to do with fate.
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the two lovers are always held back from meeting each other due to their family feud. This forced them to hide their relationship from their families and get into major consequences. The cause of Romeo and Juliet giving up their lives to be with each other should be blamed on their families actions. Tybalt and Mercutio are always provoking each other to fight which ends up in a lot of deaths. This results in Romeo being blamed and getting banished from Verona. Due to the family feud Romeo and Juliet's wedding is kept a secret which ends up with a lot of conflicts. Juliet's father is forcing her to marry Paris, this is one of the major reasons why Juliet and Romeo give up their lives to be
Throughout the whole play the Capulet's and the Montague's have a distinct hatred for each other. This hatred only causes Romeo and Juliet to lie to their parents about their love. When Juliet finds out Romeo is a Montague, she is devastated. Even though their families are enemies, this doesn’t stop them from getting married. Friar Lawrence marries them believing this will end the feud between the two families, “In one respect I'll thy assistant be: For this alliance may so prove to turn your household's rancour to pure love.”

In Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence has a major role. As a member of the Order of St. Francis, a group of wise and generous priests, Romeo and Juliet trusted Friar Laurence completely, turning to him for advice, and solutions. He was there throughout Romeo’s and Juliet's lives; he married them, came up with a plan to keep them together, and was a friend throughout their tragedies. However, Friar Laurence’s rash action in marrying Romeo and Juliet, his shortsighted plan for rescuing Juliet from an unwanted marriage to Paris, and his fear of committing sin all contributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
The first factor that played a key part in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is the fact that Friar Lawrence was a coward. When Juliet awakened after her two-day sleep only to find Romeo and County Paris dead, she is in a very unstable state. Instead of being responsible and staying with Juliet to comfort her and make sure that she doesn’t harm herself or others, he tells her that he will make her a nun “Come, come away. Thy husband in thy bosom there lays dead and Paris too. Come, I’ll dispose of thee among a sisterhood of holy nuns.” (5. 3.166-169). The only selfish reason he wanted to make Juliet a nun is so that no one ever finds out that he secretly married Romeo and Juliet...
