In Verona, Italy, two feuding households and their quarreling have brought these two star-crossed lovers together, against the agreement of their parents. Through the false guidance and teaching by Friar Laurence and The Nurse, this story ends in tragedy. Although some may disagree, Friar Laurence and The Nurse caused the deaths of Romeo and Juliet by supporting their marriage, also through the false guidance of Both Friar Laurence and The Nurse, and by allowing them to meet up and marry behind their parents' backs. This evidence shows the reader that Friar Laurence wasn't inherently doing a poor thing. Still, his negligence and his lack of full thinking through all of what could go wrong ultimately resulted in the death of Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare foreshadows “These violent delights have violent ends and in their triumph die.Is loathsome in its deliciousness and the taste confounds the appetite therefore love moderately.” The textual evidence provided is important because it shows that Friar Laurence was not thinking about what might happen in the future because of this secret marriage. Also, this evidence shows that Friar Laurence was thinking only about the good that may come with them marrying, not the bad things that may happen. Therefore, this evidence shows that Friar Laurence was not fully thinking about every outcome related to marrying the two lovers. The way this textual evidence supports the fact of The Nurse being negligent, and having false guidance over Romeo and Juliet, is that The Nurse allows Romeo to marry Juliet even though she knows that it is not right and that the two households are feuding with each other. This evidence shows that The Nurse is teaching Juliet incorrect information and giving false guidance related to marrying Romeo. This is because Romeo and Juliet have just met and Juliet is too young to marry. This evidence reveals that The Nurse is not teaching Juliet correctly and is allowing an irresponsible action to take place due to the false guidance she is giving Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, The Nurse states “Your love says, like an honest gentleman, and a courteous, and a kind, and a handsome, and, I warrant, a virtuous”. This textual evidence shows that The Nurse approves of Romeo as husband to Juliet even though their love for each other is just based on lust. Also, in this evidence, The Nurse gives reasons why Romeo is a good husband. This is because of all of the positive attributes that she states and describes him with.
