Freshman social life My freshman experience was by far the longest and most difficult time in the four years I spent at American Heritage High School. I did not know one person in my entire high school when I got there so it was a difficult task to make friends. The first few weeks in high school I was so miserable. The hardest time of freshman year was probably overhearing other students I went to school with talking about an amazing party they went too on the first weekend of high school. This was extremely tough for me considering that I was not invited to this party and that weekend, I had just stayed home and watched a movie. During my freshman year there were certain activities designed to help new students make friends. I went to …show more content…
In the third month of my freshman year I felt very happy about my current social situation because I had made so many new friends. That was also the time when I got invited to my very first party of high school. I went to this party with friends and had such a good time. There was a DJ and his music was amazing. I enjoyed dancing with friends, and it was also a good atmosphere to meet new people. Model UN is a club that is a simulation of the United Nations. During my freshman year I traveled to New York City to compete in a competition for Model UN. I represented Iran in the delegation, which was extremely difficult because my viewpoints are so different from there. The point of Model UN is to represent the country given to you, as the actually country would act. Being Iran, it was actually a good thing to be disrespectful and make things difficult for the other countries. I was pretty rude in the committee sessions and actually fell asleep in the conference. I actually one first place because how realistic my representation of Iran was so realistic. Who would have My freshman year turned out a lot better than I thought it would and I really had a fine time meeting new
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
Social psychology is a scientific study that studies how people think, feel, and how they behave under the influence of other people (Aronson, Wilson & Akert, 2013, p. 2). Thinking about what social influence really means, we tend to think of a person who tries to persuade another person to acting a certain way. It can be a form of peer pressure, like taking that first puff of a cigarette, or it can be conforming to popular societal views, such as obeying the law of the land. Fiction is a great way to learn about social psychological perspectives. Watching popular theatrical films is the perfect way to learn because it illustrates the application of many perceptions within the subject of social psychology.
As people socialize, they create interactions whose products are influential to act back upon the people to determine or constrain actions. Moreover, social interactions may be likened to a theatre whereby people are the actors as the rest of the people are the audience. These other people actively observe the role-playing and respond by reacting to the performances. However, people’s behaviors tend to change when they are alone as they get rid of the roles they play in front of others.
Throughout high school, my experience was very difficult. The past three years at Wise high school have been difficult because I have transitioned from a small school to a huge school. It seemed like staying to myself was easier. It cut out on drama and unnecessary interactions. This helped me in school because each individual person shows their culture and they express it vibrantly. Being passively social in school helps me realized that there lots of opinions and point of views. I tend to take in more than what I spit out but it's because I want to hear people out and understand where they are coming from. Throughout my art classes, the teachers help me express myself without talking. It challenges me to be more creative and imaginative.

He we go. Just me and myself now. I can write whatever I want and Mrs. Wesbecher can’t read it. To this point I have wrote about a lot of fun things I have done throughout high school, but that was just the PG version. Sophomore year is when things really began to heat up. One day over at Alex’s we found the key to his parents liquor cabinet. We did exactly what 15 year old guys would do, took some sips and wow did we think we were badasses. Looking back opening the cabinet taking a few sips and locking it back up really quick was quite comical. One night during Sophomore year it was Alex, Cal, and I, Alex drank a lot and we started to walk around town (no license yet). We walked around town for a long time with Alex’s sloppy ass. After a while
Starting high school is tough for some people. Moving to a new city is also tough for some people. Or me I had to deal with both. I can remember my very first day of high school, I was so nervous. I didn’t make any friends over the summer so I didn’t talk to anyone. I was pushed out of my comfort zone to talk to people and make new friends. A few months into school I received my first interim. It wasn't the greatest but , I blamed it on my transition to high school and promised that
Socialization is a never ending process that continues to change our perspectives to help us learn and adapt to a social reality. This lifelo.ng process can be split up into two different parts; primary socialization, the first socialization an individual undergoes in childhood, and secondary socialization, when an individual adapts to a specific group within society. Although one may believe that secondary socialization has more power over primary socialization since it is current and therefore more relevant, primary socialization has more authority considering that it lays down the foundation for all future socializations. Our initial values, attitudes, and actions are more important since we internalize them
“What are your plans after high school?.”, This is a question that everyone is asked multiple times throughout the course of their lives. Sometimes it is just something that they themselves ponder in their own thoughts. What someone does after high school should be something that is not only interesting to that person, but will ultimately lead them into a career that they will loved and enjoy. A great career that is definitely worth considering is that of a paramedic. The job description of a paramedic is very broad and can have many affects on a person's life. But not only is this job greatly fulfilling to someone’s personal life, it is also very fulfilling to someone else’s life as well. It is a fast paced, adrenaline fueled job that requires more than the faint of heart. It requires a person who not only enjoys the thrill of the rush and a hard adrenaline pump, but is also content with
The guiltiest people of abusing and overusing the phrase, “I love you.” As well, they are the people with the worst reputation for relationships. Not only that, but no one ever believes the relationship will last, except for them. Teens being so adolescent are the reason they have a bad name with relationships. They bring their own reputation upon themselves. Almost all teen relationships are looked down upon because of the way majority of them work.

According to Lorenzini and Giugni, (2010) negative consequences of unemployment, however, might be compensated or at least reduced if young people dispose of certain external resources. For example, the help of the family in supporting them financially might prove essential. Similarly, being in a relationship with a partner and having close friends with whom one can talk to might help overcoming the psychological distress caused by unemployment. “Social integration may increase the individual’s ability to cope in a way that reduces mental health symptoms and prevents social exclusion” (Hammer, 2000). Social integration is understood as having a network of family and friends, but also as having contacts with them. In

Social psychologists, such as Hazel, Kitayama, Triandis, and Brewer to name a few, have been working on the subject of culture and social self since the early ninety’s. Through individual studies, they have found relationships between the origin of ones’ culture and their sense of self.
