My topic is on height as it relates to the accuracy of successful free throw shots. After thinking about creative ways to get my children to do chores I came up with a quick challenge for them. Whoever can make the most, free throws would be exempt for weekly chores. They were excited and then thought the odds weren’t fair because they are shorter than I am. Which leads me to the question of does height matter? In this report, you will see data that shows the accuracy of successful free throw shot attempts from various heights. I will use pie charts and bar chart to record my results. DATA ANALYSIS I collected my data by having each person stand at the free throw line which is 12ft.10in. away from the standard 10ft basketball hoop. They each
In lacrosse, the overhead shot is the most vital part of the game and the most important skill that an offensive player can have. The goal of the lacrosse shot is to create a scoring attempt with peak speed and accuracy. Each player is different regarding personal technique; however, the basis of each shot remains the same and are interpreted through six phases. The general purpose of this paper is to describe trunk rotation and its impact on power and accuracy which will maximize the potential of a lacrosse shot.
We tried to find out how certain basketball statistics affect winning percentage for a NCAA Division I basketball team. We used the entire NCAA division I 1999-2000 season statistics. We considered the following statistics: Field Goals, Free Throws, Personal Fouls, Turnovers, 3 Pointers, Blocks, & Steals.
The most significant information found in the post-experiment research is the information found in Caruso’s research that accounts for the swing of the arms when jumping vertically. Caruso’s experiment shows how male and female volleyball players display different vertical jump heights with the men’s being higher. She accounts for this by saying the swing of the arms results in the men being able to jump higher due to their greater upper body strength.

A sample of children ranging from 4 to 13 years old are going to be asked to watch a Rainbow Brite video. The children will be randomly picked from a childcare center. To ensure that the children are going to be randomly assigned, the children will range in different age groups. The first group will consist of 4, 6, and 8 year olds. The second group will consist of 10,12, and 14 year olds. It would have to be a field experiment because you have to go out and collect the data.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada-Twenty-seven years on and The Montreal Massacre still stands as the worst mass shooting in the name of misogyny. Shooter Marc Lepine acted his perverse fantasy to punish all of the feminists by killing fourteen nursing students at The École Polytechnique.
The musical Hamilton, by Lin-Manuel Miranda tells of Alexander Hamilton’s impressive journey from an all but irrelevant street child, to one of the most important men in American politics. It is based off of a true story of growth, heroism, and determination. In writing this musical, Miranda takes a dry, historic story, and turns it into a captivating performance. His project to take the story of Alexander Hamilton and make it relatable to the average American is extraordinarily successful, mostly because the methods by which he does this are unprecedented. His unique methods and practices have resulted in Hamilton being so popular that it was awarded a record breaking sixteen Tony nominations (Paulson). The musical tells how Hamilton doesn’t
SWOOSH. That’s all I hear in a gym full of 100 or more screaming fans and the sound of the buzzer going off as if it was never going to stop. As I laid on the ground gasping for air, I came to my senses that I just hit the game winning shot against Tates Creek high School with 3.7 seconds left. This shot was the shot of my career but who would of knew 7 years prior to that shot that I would of became a top rated shooting guard in the city of Lexington, Kentucky. My whole basketball career all I’ve known is to shoot a basketball jump shot, that was my duty, my job, my responsibility but never did I feel I was mechanically doing my whole life’s work wrong.
The situation that I am choosing is Coach K wants to increase his basketball players’ free throw percentages. The first thing I would do is talk to the whole team and let them know what my standards are. Let’s say currently the team is shooting free throws at 65%, I would lay down the foundation of what my expectations are, and would let them know that I would like for the team to increase its free throw percentage to at least 80%. The positive reinforcer that I would use is more play time minutes during an actual game. In College basketball the more minutes you play, means the more time you get to show off your skills to recruiters in hopes of getting drafted or to play overseas. If players’ free throw percentages decrease, not only will
* Age of the person exercising * level of fitness and recovery rate * gender of candidate * temperature * amount of recovery time KEY VARIABLE: - The variable that I will be using is the duration of exercise, this is because it is easy to measure against any candidate and get a correct accurate reading from it. If I chose the type of exercise I will get readings that might not be correct because some types of exercises are
Basketball is a fun sport. Layups are a very popular way of scoring or making a basket in basketball. I am learning about layups becuse there are many different ways to do a layup. Layups can be difficult to do if you have never done them before, but just practice practice practice!. Some people will be able to do a layup there first time, and others may need some practice. To do a layup you should always try doing it with both hands. And to most people it will be easier to do a layup with your dominant hand. But it would really help to perfect your layup with both your right hand and your left hand.
A simple formula may be used which gives a correlation to the 95th percentile of BP for the 50th percentile for height up to 16 years of age.[7]
There are many aspects to the game of basketball and physics can be applied to all of them. Although to be good at basketball it is not necessary to play it from a physics point of view. Basketball players become good by developing muscle memory for the actions that must be performed in the game of basketball from years of practice. Nevertheless knowing some of the physics in the game of basketball can help a good player be a better player. In this paper I will cover the three most important aspects of the game, shooting, dribbling and passing.
