Higher Learning After graduation from high school, I plan to do several things. The most important thing I plan to do is go to college. Other than a degree, from a college education I plan to pursue higher learning, to begin a career, and to make history in my family. The first thing I hope to gain from a college education is higher learning. Learning goes far beyond a high school education and is very necessary in today's society. It allows us to be familiar with our environment and everyone in it, and it allows us to maintain assurance of ourselves. A lot of us would be lost without any learning at all, and our world would be very confused. One must learn to do such things as apply math skills as well as be responsible and independent. I know that a college education would allow me to acquire this ability. Secondly, I hope to begin a career as a result of a college education. As a college student, I plan to study chemical engineering. After taking all the classes necessary for this major and completing them successfully, I hope to be able to begin a career as a chemical engineer. Making history in my family is the most important thing I hope to gain from a college education. Neither of my parents graduated from college, nor did either of my three brothers, but they did, however, graduate from high school. Taking a look back has motivated me to reach farther. As the valedictorian of my senior class, the first in my family, I plan to make history in my family by being the first also to get a college education. Pursuing higher learning, beginning a career, and making history in my family are things I hope to gain from a college education other than a degree. It is very important that I accomplish these goals so that I will have continued success. By the grace of God I know all of these things and many more are possible. If I believe it, then I can achieve it.
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
The novel begins with the point of view of Mr. Lockwood, a new tenant who resides at Thrushcross Grange. Then the story shifts to Ellen, Nelly, Dean’s perspective from twenty-three years ago. Ms. Dean recollects the past and Mr. Lockwood chronicles the tale. Unfortunately, Ms. Dean supplies a substantial amount of unreliable or distorted information. Some are hearsay and gossip from nosy servants and workers, who tend to enhance the original tale by adding more drama than necessary. Lockwood’s perspective serves as first impression of the current characters. His fresh eye is crucial for readers, as it not only lessen the bias, but also measures Heathcliff’s character development. Readers can engage with the past and use knowledge from the future to understand Heathcliff’s personality and shortcomings. The additional perspective can also reveal facets of other characters’ personalities that Ms. Dean failed to
Catherine's character will be examined first, since she is one of the main characters in the book. Catherine was not your typical sweet, caring, angelic little girl. Ellen describes her by saying, "Her spirits were always at high-water mark, her tongue always going--singing, laughing, and plaguing everybody who would not do the same. A wild, wicked slip she was-" (p.32), and, " In play, she liked, exceedingly, to act the little mistress; using her hands freely, and commanding her companions: she did so to me, but I would not bear slapping and ordering; so I let her know."(p.33). From these two descriptions of Catherine, it seems she was always testing her limits, not at all submissive. Even as a child she had a strong mind that would not easily be swayed. It is obvious that Catherine was dominant and even domineering, an example of this would be the way she continually ordered her playmates around and by resorting to physical abuse to get them to do what she wanted them to do. Later in the book Catherine described herself as a child by saying she was "half savage, and hardy, and free"(p.97).
Mr. Earnshaw, Catherine and Heathcliff are successful in destroying every life they touch because of their selfishness and self-centered outlook on life. What they want will always be theirs, whatever the cost to others may be. In this story, Brontë depicts the tragic outcomes of those who rely on selfishness. When someone attempts to achieve his/her goals while ignoring the needs of others, he/she loses sight of the dreams and hopes of those around them, including loved ones. Consequently, the selfish eventually destroy themselves and others both emotionally and physically. This utter disregard for others may seem innocuous at first, but the eventual ruin that follows is eternal and irreversible.
As a child Cathy was wild and headstrong and her determination enables her to get everything that she wants. Although she only loves Heathcliff, she has a choice between him and Edgar Linton, as he too loves her. She chooses Edgar because of his status, but ends u...
First off, I want to graduate from college and do it well. I want to be able to do things on the weekends and not worry about having to make things up or anything like that. I am hoping for a scholarship in football, in my opinion that would be a great start for me in college. Then after college maybe pursue that as a career. If that doesn't work out for me then I want to look into athletic training or physical therapy. If those things don't interest me or I don't get into it I am then looking into law. That will take much more time and patience, but it's gonna be the rest of my life.
There are many major themes of the book, but revenge is the most imminent theme, the factor that leads the protagonists to their dismal fate. Bronte proves there is no peace in eternal vengeance, and in the end self-injury involved in serving revenge’s purposes will be more damaging than the original wrong.
The crucial importance and relevance of economics related disciplines to the modern world have led me to want to pursue the study of these social sciences at a higher level. My study of Economics has shown me the fundamental part it plays in our lives and I would like to approach it with an open mind - interested but not yet fully informed.
The WTO isn’t a perfect organization by any means, but it does try to regulate tariffs and taxes and occasionally does end up helping a few poor countries out. Without the WTO, would the world be a different place? America needs it, this much we know, but do all the other countries? Many protestors would argue that no, the world does not need the WTO and everyone should stick to its own domestic issues. However, others might say yes, the WTO can be of some use when dealing with particularly remote countries that might not have a chance to trade with anyone else otherwise. In either case the facts have been shown on what the WTO is, why it is here, what it does and how it effects trading.
Growing up I was always told that I had to attend college and be something great. So I guess in a sense I have to prove to myself and others that I can achieve this. When I graduate it will give me a piece of mind knowing that I did what I was destined to do. Graduating and receiving my degree will be one of my greatest accomplishments.

College is going to start my own life on a foot that is ready to leap because my career is going to take off right out of the gate. All-in-all I’m going to college for three main reasons. My immediate family is a reason because I want them to be proud of me for doing something right for once. My future family is also one because it’s a big part of my life that I want to be happy and always feel comfortable. Finally for my personal financial well-being, so I can be able to treat myself to all the luxuries I want for myself. Going back to line one, all of these things are a part of my future. Isn’t that what college is for after all, to prepare people for their own futures and what they bring? A university is not my future, it’s only the beginning of it.
I have three specific goals that I intend to reach, which are to graduate high school, graduate college, and be successful in my career after college. To start, I plan to graduate high school. Although I am very near to attaining this goal, as I am in my last year of high school, it is an extremely important goal to me. In order to achieve this goal, I, as I have done throughout my time as a student, plan to study hard and strive to succeed in the classroom.
