Frankenstein stood out to me because it was something that I was not expecting. Considering how the monster of Frankenstein has been perceived over the past few decades in the media, I expected it to be about an evil scientist who created a killing machine on purpose. To my surprise, it was a very interesting story that presented a theme I could relate to. The pursuit for more and more intelligence and further advancements in Science may not be such a good idea. I want to be an inventor and create revolutionary things one day of which may very well involve dealing with …show more content…

Walton is searching for new discoveries in Science (reflects Frankenstein). He is poetic and it is probably a reflection of the author’s husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley. Walton comes across a near death Victor Frankenstein in the Arctic. From there Victor tells his story to the captain, the story of his abandoned creation. I would recommend the book because it was not much of a hard read and it is interesting. At first, I felt close to Victor because I felt like we had something in common. Therefore, I liked the character, but after seeing his selfish doings I despised him for not taking responsibility. I eventually ended up feeling bad for the monster, rather than Victor for making a mistake. Victor’s family was very wealthy and he basically had everything as a kid, while his creation received nothing. I do not enjoy reading at all, but this novel goes down on my list of works I did not mind reading at all. It was a good read like 1984 or Catcher in the Rye. The book had a moderate pace and was not too short or long. I could predict the monster not being able to fit in society and therefore reject it, hate it, and want to destroy it. Frankenstein was overall satisfying. The plot is effective because it shows the ripple effect of one mistake. It shows how one bad thing leads to another and the need and urgency to clean up your own
