Good-Morning/ After-noon I’m Kirra Lee, I’m here to talk about one of the Four Corners Documentary’s called the “Punch Drunk”, uploaded February, 26 2013 by Janine Cohen and Karen Michelmore. A quote I saw once said that “Alcohol gives you infinite patience for stupidity behaviour” by Sammy Davis, Jr, and the purpose of this documentary is telling us about violence under the influence of alcohol and what it does to use while under the guidance and what we can do to others without thinking about it. This story is about a young boy going out on his first time drinking out in the clubs, while walking with his girlfriend, he gets severely punched in the head by a drunk person and now has ended up half crippled on one side of the body for the rest
of his life. The other half of the story is about the alcohol level in the streets and the clubs and how they act towards the police department and towards the nurses and security guards in the hospitals and to each other under the influence of alcohol and how it gets out of hand during the night. In this documentary they firstly show us Sam Fords story, of how he was a nice young boy on his first night out drinking with his girlfriend and brother then it all turned to the worse, after a drunken person wacked him over the head several times, then fleeing the scene and leaving him on the ground bleeding and unconscious and severally hurt. They showed use footage of them in the hospital and how he was in a comma for several weeks and how he ended up like crippled
Jody was born biologically with male genitals and he was brought up as a boy. Unlike his more gender-typical older brother, Jody’s childhood behavior was considered “sissy”. Jody genetically preferred the company of girls compared to boys during childhood. Jody considered herself a bisexual male until the age of 19. At 19 years of age, she became involved with a man, and her identity would be transgender, meaning that Jody was unhappy with her gender of birth and seeks a change from male to female. It would seem that there was some late-onset dissatisfaction, and late-onset is linked to attraction to women; in comparison to early childhood-onset, which are attracted to men. Jody identified herself as bisexual. The relationship with the man ended; nevertheless, Jody’s desire to become a woman consumed her, and Jody feels that’s he was born in the
Attention Getter: “I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a Baller, I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call her.” That timeless phrase coined by Ski-Lo in the early nineties, resonates with so many of us because all of those goals are things that people relate to being successful. And while I can’t help you with the first and the last respectively, becoming a “Basket-baller” is quite feasible, with a little hard work.
The violence is having an actual impact on John’s biomedical as by him hitting Anne this could lead him to further injury his back. John is consuming excessive amounts of alcohol continuously which leads to the violence occurring. It is not only physical injuries from hitting Anne, but also alcohol has many health risks associated with it including liver disease, brain damage, heart disease, high blood pressure and increases John’s risk of many cancers (guidelines for alcohol consumption 2013). Additionally, John is also being effected psychologically as chronic pain and stress are closing related. Chronic pain can cause feelings such as anger, hopelessness, sadness and anxiety, this potentially could be leading John to use alcohol as a relaxant which overall is causing him to lash out towards Anne (Bruns & Kerns 2013) John goes to the pub frequently to socialise and drink, this may be having potential effects causing John to lash out towards Anne. This is because ‘research shows that heavy drinking and intoxication are associated with physical aggression’ (Morgan & Chadwick 2009). Overall, there are numerous actual and potential impacts to John’s biopsychosocial model as a result of domestic
Every 53 minutes someone dies from a drunk driver and every 2 minutes someone is injured from drunk driving (“About Drunk Driving”). Drunk driving is a huge problem and there are multiple solutions to decrease drunk driving. Families are affected by society's choice to drink and drive, not that society knows any better. This also costs money that could be spent on other, more important things and makes the roads completely dangerous for all drivers. Through all the issues drunk driving creates; there are solutions too- addicts could get medical help and society could help by raising awareness and talking to each other.
“For every family that is impacted by drugs, there are another 10 to 15 families impacted by alcohol abuse. It's a pretty big deal. We have a tendency to only look at part of the puzzle.” (Kevin Lewis). As a society we tend to categorize the severity of addiction in a way that drugs are the most dangerous and alcohol being just a problem. Because alcohol addiction can be a slow progressive disease many people don’t see it in the same light as drug addiction. An addiction to drugs is seen as being a more deadly and dangerous issue then that of alcohol because a drug addiction can happen more quickly and can kill more quickly. Alcohol is something that is easy to obtain, something that is found at almost every restaurant. People with an alcohol addiction can not hide from alcohol as easy as a drug addict. Approximately 7 million Americans suffer from alcohol abuse and another 7 million suffer from alcoholism. (Haisong 6) The dangers of alcohol affect everyone from children with alcoholic parents, to teenagers who abuse alcohol, then to citizens who are terrorized by drunk drivers.
Chapter eight of “A Concise Public Speaking Handbook”, is about how to develop one’s speech. Selecting a topic to speak about is the first step to developing one’s speech. Analyzing the audience will help the speaker choose which topic to speak on and how to present the topic to them. The speaker also needs to have purpose for speaking on the topic in order to develop their speech. This is because having purpose for speaking on the topic will help the speaker organize how they’re going to speak their topic and convey their message to the audience. Knowing the purpose for the speech will help create and clarify the central idea and main ideas of the spoken topic to the audience. When I have presented in the past, I have tried to state my purpose and central idea on what I was speaking on to the audience. By knowing my purpose and central idea about the topic I was speaking on, it has helped me a lot with being able to
Good evening class, during this lecture we will be looking at two pieces of fantasy text. The first one being Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi published in 2011, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 first written by Suzanne Collins in 2010 then directed by Francis Lawrence in 2014. Okay, you will see that I have placed a book in front of you, can you please turn to the first page. On this page you will see there are three questions, the second and third question can be answered at any time and even in your own time if you wish. Throughout the presentation if you do not know any answers they will surely be discussed, and at any time feel free to raise your hand. The first question asks what are three problem facing us/the environment today. It
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and can tell a thousand tales. Just what exactly is this saying? (Visual of a bad snap shot… finger in shot)
Discursive consciousness encourages politicians to partake in sharing one’s history. It is the speech that is a conversation or discourse between the potential and the intended audience. It is a personal campaign, relating platform to the laity in an effort to gain a true backing. That creates a profile. Through existential coherence, the insinuations of relatedness succor the public and the politician to find common ground, supplying elements of familiarity evoking a relatable and approachable persona. This public image is a configuration of the individual’s history, ideas, beliefs, and purpose, an oratorical resume of sorts.
I do not support nor encourage the use of alcohol, dangerous party games or drunk driving. The story above is a purly fictional tale that encompases a steryotype that I perceive a specific type of person would experience, and do not myself currently share any of the same experiences, negative behavioral actions or destructive thoughts. Any similarity to actual people, places, or events is purely coincidental and not intended to offend
...eads to violence and sexual aggression in men if the drinking becomes out of control. In First Dance, Roy and his group of mates hang out outside the local surf club, drinking beer in a controlled environment until Chrissie and Toni show up, too drunk to control themselves. This causes the men to take advantage Toni and as a consequence, rape and kill her as a result of sexual aggression. This action is reflects alcoholism and sexual aggression in Australian adolescent men.

I delivered my informative speech on the psychological aspects of smiling. I used examples of how the brain, body and others around you are affected by your smile. I explained how your brain activates neural messaging, releases tiny molecules and releases your happy chemicals of dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins for your health and well being. I presented the audience with an adequate amount of slides with important facts regarding my topic. Credit was given to three sources required for this assignment, Professor Paula Niedenthal, a case study done at the University of Aberdeen and a study conducted in Sweden. I mentioned how smiling affects your body by looking attractive, relaxed, confident,
Alcohol and drug abuse is one of biggest problems in United States today. It is not only a personal problem that dramatically affects individuals' lives, but is a major social problem that affects society as whole. "Drug and alcohol abuse", these phrases we hear daily on the radio, television or in discussions of social problem. But what do they mean or what do we think and understand by it? Most of us don't really view drug or alcohol use as a problem, if that includes your grandmother taking two aspirins when she has a headache or your friends having few beers or drinks on Saturday night. What we really mean is that some drugs or alcohol are being used by some people or in some situations constitute problem with which our society must deal. It becomes a real problem when using or I should say abusing drugs cause accidents, antisocial behavior, broken relationships, family instability, crime and violence, poverty, unsafe streets and highways, worker absenteeism and nonproductivity, and the most tragic one death. The situation in which the drug or alcohol uses accurse often makes all the difference. The clearest example is the drinking of alcohol, when individual begins to drink during the job, at school, or in the morning, we have evidence that indicates a potential drinking problem. If a person takes narcotic drug because he just wrecked his knee while his physician prescribed playing football and the drug, most of us would be not concerned. If, on the other hand, he took the same drug on his own just because he likes the way it makes him feel, then we should begin to worry about him developing dependence. Even use of illegal drugs are sometimes acceptable, but it also depends on situation, for example in some countries smoking marijuana is legal just like drinking alcohol in United States. Some subcultures even in United States that accept the use of illegal drugs may distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable situation, some college age groups might accept marijuana smoking at a party on weekends, but not just before going to a calculus class. Most of people would accept a fact that a bartender or a waiter who is working at a night club is having a beer or a drink on his break or that a landscape worker is having a cold beer with his lunch on a hot summer day. I'm not saying that it is "OK" but we wouldn't complain a...
Sort Out your Matter: Before you hit the decks the foremost thing you have to do is decide on a matter which is of your concern. Being acquainted with the matter is of good concern than what you incorporate in your speech. The better way not to forget what is to be said is the proper application of some funny side, some stories related to yourself and language that is familiar to everyone on every day. A good number of speeches include amid two and five key thoughts. Approach with thoughts than you would be able to fit inside your time limits. For this reason you have to be choosy in picking out only those key ideas that are crucial to your speech. Your most powerful idea will be the one that will create the maximum effect on the listeners. Generally, what your speech should be reflecting is representation of you as an upcoming influence and as a successful personality. A few regular and supportive ways speakers prefer to sort out the key ideas in their speeches are Chronological Organization and Topical Organization.
