1. Fossils are commonly thought to be the “evidence for evolution” but there is so much more. Use examples to illustrate one of these other lines of evidence, being explicit in how it relates to the tree-like branching pattern of evolution. The molecular record is another line of evidence for evolution. Molecular records show a stronger evidence for evolution by comparing the DNA of different species. Even though fossils that are similar gives a physical relation to another, species DNA show more similarities. For example humans and chimpanzees are similar in appearance, structure but are more closely related by DNA. Humans are Primates right along with the great apes, one of the main individuals of the primate evolutionary tree. The Smithsonian …show more content…
What would you want to know to evaluate whether Reaves is right “these snakes have now started to evolve to the point they’re losing their rattle in order to survive”, and how would you go about finding out? In order to determine whether Reaves is right I would look into the different types of rattle snakes being found in the areas where the claims are coming from doing this will give me a view of the range of rattle snakes that live in the areas. I would also look at the time gaps of before the rattle snakes started going silent to the present to see if there is a difference in population size. If Reaves is right I would expect a lower population rate for rattle snakes that do rattle verse those that don’t rattle as much. I would also want to know what is influencing the rattlesnake gene pool. Something has to be the cause for why rattle snakes would to go silent. A predator would more than likely be the cause for why rattle snakes are going silent allowing them not to alert their predators or prey. Those that are heritably prone to staying quiet would be the rattlesnakes that are more likely to pass on their genes, causing a population of quiet rattlesnakes to form. Leaving us with the conclusion that rattlesnakes are
The Hall of the Vertebrate Origins is another exhibit that shows evidence of evolutionism. The purpose of this hall is to show that all vertebrates had a common ancestor. That common ancestor had a brain case and a backbone. As time progressed, the vertebrates developed limbs that were supported by the backbone, and had watertight eggs.
I shall begin by telling you what I believe. I do not think that the fossil record is of any help to evolution. I trust that the fossil record is, in fact, the greatest evidence against the evolutionary train of view.
There are many reasons why people should believe in Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. One of the more compelling reasons is the anatomical similarities between different species. Still another reason to accept Darwin’s Theory is the geographic distribution of species, meaning that certain plants and animals have evolved in specific ways to meet the needs of their isolated environments. Another reason to support the theory of evolution is the fossil record of change over time throughout earlier species. Lastly, scientists have recorded genetic changes in a certain species over many generations which support Darwin’s Theory.
Modern-day genetic technology has granted mankind with the opportunity to bring back extinct species from the dead. If humans have come to possess the DNA from an extinct animal population, it is possible to create an identical clone of the animal in question, effectively “bringing it back from the dead”. Many ethical dilemmas surround the practice of de-extinction, and rightfully so. Recreating an extinct species could produce groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, generating exciting opportunities for future genetics-based research. However, there could also be monumental consequences: the newly revived, once-extinct species might destroy the ecological equilibrium of modern Earth
Really there wasn't much of a drive to find the first fossils discovered. When they were first found, that's all they were, found. As stated by Sues in “European Dinosaur Hunters” (1997) most of the first fossils discovered were usually fragments found in quarries. They just started showing up when people dug holes or built things. But once it was realized by the scientific community that these were the petrified remains of creatures that once lived, they became more and more valuable, and they actually became sought after. Paleontologists are always looking for new fossils of new animals to add to the list of discoveries. Like explorers in the dark depths of the jungles of South America,
Susan Lindee and Ricardo Santos’ goal was to understand the contexts of genesis and development of biological anthropology around the world from an international standpoint, focusing on engagement with living human populations. Their contributors, scholars in history of science, science studies, and anthropology, were guided by key questions about national histories, collections, and scientific field practice.
“Scientific evidence is consistent with the belief that the physical universe was designed by God.” Several of those evidences can be proven throughout the Bible. As intelligent beings who are born, live life span, then die, we must have come into existence through either a natural, or supernatural process would indicate an all- powering and all- knowing Deity. This Deity would have left some record of his existence. An orderly universe was made by an orderly Creator (Sarfati, Refuting Evolution I 25).
Another piece of evidence is that the same fossil remnants are found on two different continents. It couldn’t be just a coincident that the same thing is found on two different land masses thousands of miles apart. They matched up the sections where animals or plants were found and they fit together on different continents.

Growing up in a conservative household and being surrounded around Christian values, naturally one would be inclined to be opposed to the concept of evolution. Although in my residence, my mother held fast to her religious beliefs, my father (being a doctor ) readily approved of evolution. Also my grandparents understand evolution, because my grandfather was in the sciences. While a child can only be apt to accept a concept if they understand it, my family never fully explained evolution and because my mother did not recognizing it, I do not have a definite answer as to if I support it or not.
The theory takes into consideration the biological processes of natural selection, mutation, symbiosis, gene transfer and genetic drift. Science concept Charles Darwin Charles Darwin was a naturalist born on the 12th of February 1809 in England. Darwin grew up loving nature and went to Edinburgh University. On the trip around the world, Darwin collected natural samples including birds, plants and fossils. Darwin found a particular interest in the Pacific islands and South America.
Evolution: Fact or Fiction? One of the greatest questions of all time is: "Where the heck did we come from?" One of the most popular answers to this question is creationism, the idea that everything was created by a higher being. Another idea is evolution, the idea that all living organisms descended from a less complex organism. Up and coming in the last century, evolution possesses a new way of thinking that is being greatly accepted by the scientific community.
The second piece of evidence of evolution is similarities among living organisms. This theory is one of the ones that truly show that evolution could actually be true. Similarities among organisms is exactly that. It’s like the structure of two different organisms that are the same. For example, a deer and a horse's’ bodies are pretty much the same, so that must mean that they have an ancestor in common, so they may have evolutionized from each other. This supports evolution because, as already stated, it shows that they have evolved from an ancestor they have in common.
The prevailing declination of the Tasmanian devil’s population can be accounted to the dissemination of the malignant disease known as Devil-Facial-Tumour-Disease (DFTD) which is spread through biting each other. The reproductive trends within Tasmanian Devils have had to adopt survival techniques such as early reproduction due to selective pressures which are precipitating the chance of death within the population. Both Charles Darwin and Jean-Baptiste Lamarck have proposed theories of evolution which can be pertained towards the endangerment of the devils however, Darwin’s theory conveys the concept better.
Dino means terrible and sauros (sarus) means lizard. The word dinosaur means "terrible lizard", the name is rather misleading, as dinosaurs are not lizards. Instead they are a separate group of reptiles. Many extinct forms do not reveal characteristics traditionally seen as reptilian, such as a sprawling limb posture or exothermic. Many prehistoric animals including masseurs, plesiosaurs, and Dimetrodon are popularly conceived of as dinosaurs but are not classified as dinosaurs. Before birds were recognized as dinosaurs the scientific community believed dinosaurs to have been sluggish and cold-blooded. Most research however has proved that all dinosaurs were dynamic animals with elevated metabolisms and a number of social interactions adaptations.
