Essay On Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump directed by Robert Zemeckis is about Forrest facing difficulties in his life. The film takes place in America and Vietnam. It is told from a third-person point of view by Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks). We start out with a funny and happy theme and later on in the movie we move to sad tone. The main characters are obviously Forrest Gump, Mrs. Gump, Lieutenant Dan, Bubba, and Jenny. Forrest wasn’t really the smartest guy around. He is very slow academic ways and using common sense but he is a loving and caring person. He always tried to protect those he cared about, especially his childhood friend, Jenny and of course his mother, Mrs. Gump too.

Forrest kept finding Jenny numerous times even though she kept leaving him, which was luck or destiny and Forrest says it in the movie as well when he states “I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time.”

The camera angles and the lighting were all over in the movie. Robert had a lot of close ups. Then he had slightly above, over the shoulder and other different types as well. He also had different lighting like when Forrest was with Jeeny as a child it was nice weather. But when we go to the war scene it’s the worst weather you can see. The s.ound he really made it a quiet or lower level of sound when he was telling the stories and when we went to the war scene he made everything loud. Whether it was the talking or the lighting or the rain, just everything during the war scene was loud to make it more intense and feel like we are there. There was also fast editing at times and others that were slow. Some fast editing was during the war scene and then we slowed it down when we went to the stories or at the end when he was with Jenny. Overall this movie was a great movie and used a wide variety of film elements in
